Should half time be extended to 25 minutes?
http://www.insideworldfootball.com/2021 ... 5-minutes/
I don't think it should be, but Conmebol, the south American football federation, have asked for this idea to be considered by the IFAB.
It's expected that the idea will be rejected, because the belief is a longer rest for players could potentially lead to an increase in injuries.

Re: Should half time be extended to 25 minutes?
No need to change half time for that. If, as they say, they want to do it to provide crowd entertainment, then let them have it before or after the game and those people in the crowd who want to watch it, can arrive earlier or leave later.
Do we think watching 25 miutes of the Swankypants dogs would have been even better than 15?

Given how long it takes some teams to return to the pitch sometimes, you'd be forgiven for thinking it was already 25 minutes.

On the plus side you might have a chance of getting a beer on the Turf.

No. Increases chance of supporter hyperthermia on a cold Winter night game at t’Turf!

Why do they insist on keep messing with the rules of the game. I can’t keep up just leave it alone!

No.
It'll be quarters at some point in next 20 years though which will be even worse.

Re: Should half time be extended to 25 minutes?
Not for me, I’d be interested in hearing professionals and managers views on it though.
I’ve played football and never felt the need for 15 minutes never mind 25, obviously not at their intensity but also not with their fitness levels. I’d say the longer you relax the muscles and cool down the more likely you are to start picking up injuries again

Re: Should half time be extended to 25 minutes?
Some games I've seen I'd sooner have 25 minutes football and 90 minutes half time.

Re: Should half time be extended to 25 minutes?
As a spectator- no thanks.
I've never played at any great level but wouldve hated longer HT breaks when I played. You get "cold" and maybe your nice level of adrenaline/concentration gets a bit too low.
Have some liquid, listen to the manager's words of wisdom and get back out there to continue the battle. 10 mins is probably enough but I can understand 15 at top level.

Re: Should half time be extended to 25 minutes?
Absolutely. Must be two or three games where after half time we've been left standing on the pitch waiting for the other team to join us. No way that should happen.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 12:50 amGiven how long it takes some teams to return to the pitch sometimes, you'd be forgiven for thinking it was already 25 minutes.
Re: Should half time be extended to 25 minutes?
As daft as the idea of having each half of 30 mins with a clock stop/starting each time the ball goes out of play.

Re: Should half time be extended to 25 minutes?
It leaves more time for ads. No footballer can be expected to have to play 2 halves of football with only 15 minutes off. They'll be wanting them to play 2 games a week next

The Suits in the Boardrooms sometimes feel a need to justify their existence.

My thoughts! Might get a pint without missing 5 minutes of the game if they did!LoveCurryPies wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 9:22 amGiven how long it takes to get served at the beer and snacks bars.....definitely!

Re: Should half time be extended to 25 minutes?
It will appeal though, a large captive audience with more time to kill would increase the ‘shopping mall’ sales. Terrible idea for the core reason for being their though, as stated above more danger from injuries, more time for crowd unrest…

Re: Should half time be extended to 25 minutes?
It's too cold in winter to be ******* about for 25 minutes.
Re: Should half time be extended to 25 minutes?
No. Imagine if someone like Gifton had had a 25 minuite half time, he wouldn't have made it back to the pitch for the second half.

Re: Should half time be extended to 25 minutes?
imagine being 4 down at half time, then having almost half an hour to kill before the hammering continues on a cold wintery afternoon. No chance.
15 minutes is boring enough to endure.

Re: Should half time be extended to 25 minutes?
It wouldn't surprise me if one day in the near future it is indeed 25 minutes. More time for commercials on TV. The opinions of those paying to go through the turnstiles won't count.

Don't be ridiculous is my answer to the thread title.

Re: Should half time be extended to 25 minutes?
Why is it such a daft idea to have minutes actually played as opposed to a fixed duration with random stoppages and an approximation of time added on?
I'm not sure how keen I am on the idea, but I don't see it as being a daft idea.

Re: Should half time be extended to 25 minutes?
Blimey remember 7-30pm ko’s……no “added time”…………ability to have a beer watching the match…..10 minutes HT……..in’t pub getting warm by 9-20pm
Now it’s 8pm, possibly 25 minutes HT and say 10 minutes rolling around lacazette time……….it’ll be 10-30pm …….good help anyone going to an away match.

Re: Should half time be extended to 25 minutes?
Sounds a decent idea to me. Not only will the fans on the game benefit from the entertainment and additional time for refreshments but it will give the pundits more time for proper in-depth analysis which will benefit those watching it on the telly.
Im sure it wont go down with the dinosaurs who get frightened by any change but I like this kind of progressive thinking

Hopefully not too long if you've got Dianna Ross singing and taking penalties on the pitchboatshed bill wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 6:31 pmHow long does it take to buy and eat a burger or hot dog?
