Don’t think undersoil heating can shift huge dumps of snow. Things have changed SO much over the last 50 years. Orange ball and crack on !

Final decision was delayed until Spurs team arrived, it sounds like they arrived and didn’t fancy it.

Is this just guesswork or has it been confirmed? Not that under soil heating would have cleared the heavy snow.

The ref and managers have just explained the heating is on but it’s not costing the snow. Re: MATCH OFF.
This snow if forecast to end very, very shortly.
That pitch is going to be perfectly playable. They could easily have delayed it an hour.
This decision puts a lot of people out of pocket and wastes their time. It is a selfish and cowardly decision.

The ref made the decision. No evidence that Spurs influenced his decision. Reported that both teams were willing to give it a go and both managers disappointed but understand the decision made.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 1:38 pmFinal decision was delayed until Spurs team arrived, it sounds like they arrived and didn’t fancy it.

I feel for both sets of fans who don't live locally. That said, we decided at 1.00pm not to bother. The road outside our house isn't far off from being impassable. At least we'll now see the game at a later date.
Going to watch the Chelsea v ManU game with a couple of beers.

What about if there's a medical emergency inside the stadium, like at Newcastle recently?
How would you feel if it was your dad, brother, son or whoever couldn't be treated and rushed to hospital for life saving treatment due to the conditions outside the stadium?
We're all frustrated, but it's a game that's been called off.

Re: MATCH OFF.
People just say "safety" these days like that trumps everything.
It's the equivalent of "I couldn't do X because of 'personal reasons' " as if it gives you an automatic free pass. It's cowardly and takes no account of the expense and time people have gone to to get to the game.
I feel especially sorry for the Tottenham supporters who travelled but there will be plenty of Burnley fans who travelled great distances to watch this game.
"IT'S FREEZING", you say? Well guess what? It's winter - it will be cold. That's what it's like in the UK.
Cold weather is not a "safety" issue. It means people should wear appropriate clothes.
They could easily have at least waited an hour to see if the pitch was playable, especially as the forecast is that the sleet and snow is going to end very shortly.
Whoever has made this decision has done so out of a warped sense of risk aversion trumping all other considerations. It's cowardly and unfair on the supporters.
Wait and see what the weather is like at 3pm or 4pm when this game could very, very easily have been played.

Re: MATCH OFF.
Problem is that more or less wherever your coming from on my side of Burnley there is a biggish hill to get over. So I suppose safety for vehicles later in the day was a factor in clalling it off. Bars full on Rawtenstall market I noticed. Few Clarets downing some German beer no doubt.

What if you suffer a health problem when it's snowing at any other time? Do you rush to be within spitting distance of an A&E department every time it snows "just in case"?
This is a ridiculous decision. I'm fuming about this because it's so unnecessary and people think they can safe "due to safety" like it's some kind of magical spell that justifies this ludicrous, cowardly decision.
It's going to put thousands of people out of pocket and waste their time. Whoever made this decision should hang their head in shame.
You watch - that pitch will be perfectly playable and that game could and should have gone ahead today, even if it was delayed for an hour or two.

We decided not to risk it this morning, Woodhead Pass still shut from yesterday anyway. Gutted for anyone that tried getting there, it was treacherous in South Yorkshire today.

The temperature is due to drop another degree or two by 5pm, so delaying the game by an hour or two isn't going to help.

Pretty sure it is the match official and not either club who decide if they play or not. Under soil heating stops the pitch from freezing but it doesn't melt snow as it falls.
That looks pretty unplayable to me, if nothing else but for safety reasons
Can you just stop posting sensible stuff like this when you should be slagging the club off please!

All these people slagging off the people in authority for calling this game off, are the same type of people who'd be the first on the phone to an injury lawyer should they fall on ice in or around the stadium footprint.

About when they make a decision to not allow a game to take place.
Using this logic we should never ever ever play football at all. Not ever.
This is a cowardly decision and part of a wider cowardice whereby the slightest of risks leads to stupid decisions.

If we decided whether games are played based on weather forecasts and what the temp might be we’d barely play between November and February.

The fans should take themselves into consideration. You do things like watch the weather forecast or look out of the window before you decide to rock up in shirt and sandals or boots, overcoat, hat & scarf.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 2:07 pmYou're only focusing on the pitch, not the fans, why is that?

The health and safety officer at the club can postpone the match if they think the conditions are dangerous to the general public.
This is not the case today which is why I haven't mentioned it.
Do you always cower indoors when it is cold "just in case"?
Have you never been outside in the snow in your life?
