I didn't realise that saving a keyboard warrior from being locked in his bedroom was a reason for allowing the game to go ahead
I travelled several miles to burnley, arrived at 12pm it was ok. An hour later it wasn't. Took over an hour to get out of burnley Town centre due to snow laden roads, hindsight is great, but at 1pm there was no way that pitch would be playable by 2pm.. Ok delay kick off, but what if the forecast was wrong, and it still wasn't fit at 3pm??

You keep defending the wrong decision, City and Leicester have managed to play games in worse snow than we had.
Hi mate, this is your original tweet
It had only just started snowing in City at the start, which is a bit different to the situation at the Turf
But I get it, you say what you want to see
Its fine

At the sake of repeating myself, this is why an hour delay would have been the correct decision.

Ah, yes, the benefit of hindsight, and again, absolutely not taking into account the situation in Manchester and Leicester at the same time as it was in Burnley

I think the fact that you are absolutely pretending that it was as bad at City/Leicester as it was at Burnley when the game was called off is slightly weird btw, and ignoring that completely undermines your argument

Gutted about today...thought the weather would have kicked us and our fans on and Spurs would have struggled. Last game I can rememeber like that was Peterborough but that went ahead. It is what it is. Took me an hour getting out of town, who's to say if it carried on that many would have struggled at full time or been stranded

Not reading through all the thread but was the game called off due to the condition of the pitch or the underfoot conditions outside the ground?

At the time, the gamble could not be taken. We're assuming staff, stewards, police and so on would have all been OK with hanging around for an hour or so on the off chance a game might have been played never mind players and management.
Not very logical, is it ? Get over it.

What's the gamble in waiting 30 minutes before reaching a decision?
It was the wrong decision and thousands of people are out of pocket and had their day wasted.

The snow falling heavily at the time. Apparently little or no consideration given to the forecast that showed the snow easing very shortly afterwards and stopping.
30-40 minutes later, Turf Moor was bathed in sunshine. Very poor decision making.

Horrendous conditions, a match called off. Management, players and officials in full agreement after an hour's deliberations.
A couple of bored, petulant fans, neither of whom were even contemplating being there in the first place, apparently, chuck their toys out of the pram.

Why a delay wasn’t a viable option (to be fair most of this has already been stated in various places):
1. Who knew when then snow was going to die down
2. It actually stopped at 14:50, literally like a snow machine was turned off
3. Therefore, the game realistically wouldn’t have gone ahead until 15:30 at the earliest if all fans were in the ground ready for the original kick off
4. Fans travelling back down south would have then struggled on public transport
5. The later the game is played the more hazardous the surrounding areas become (I’ve just been for a walk around Eastern Avenue and the paths and side roads are slippy)
6. Would the police agree to an hour/2 hour delay? Not sure but they certainly have a say to kick off times
7. Because of the unknown time frame of the weather clearing the fans would need to have been inside the ground ready for a new kick off time. What do you do with 18000 people in freezing conditions inside the ground (children/elderly not the well’ard b@stards amongst this forum)
8. Then there is the players to consider. If the ref says delay for an hour and the players get ready and warm for that 15:00 kickoff then they have to wait for another 30mins at least, this risks injury and possibly the quality of the game.
9. Regardless of what people say the quality of the game is very high up on the priority list due to the “brand” image

To be fair those who think the game should and could have been delayed aren't saying it was fit between 1pm - 2pm. They are saying review thirty mins or so later and that it would've been playable from 3pm. They don't think Dyche was telling lies.

Pretty sure the snow HADN’T been forecast. At least it hadn’t last night, chance of sleet it said. And if it was falling too fast to clear what can you do?

Hi love. Game called off, eh? What did you managed to do all Sunday afternoon?
I spent over four hours, and still counting, arguing with strangers on a football forum about how I'm better informed than those who called it off, and how it should me, Rowls, making the decisions regarding ground and public safety.

It was not snowing heavily by that stage and it would have demonstrated the forecast (that the snow would die down then stop) was very probably correct.
Waiting half an hour would have been enough to say the pitch could be cleared without worrying about it falling faster than it could be cleared and the game could have been prepared for a 3pm KO.
Just take a look at the picture of the blue sky and sunshine that was the scene by that time.

Hi love. Game called off, eh? What did you managed to do all Sunday afternoon?
I spent over four hours, and still counting, arguing with strangers on a football forum about how I'm better informed than those who called it off, and how it should me, Rowls, making the decisions regarding ground and public safety.
The relevant decision was nothing to do with "ground and public safety". The decision was, if we delay slightly will the pitch be playable.
If that correct decision had been taken thousands of people would not have had a wasted day and lost lots of money.

It did snow a lot that day but most of it was towards the end of the game when Jay Rod scored and then after the game people couldn't get out of Burnley for hours, your damned if you do, damned if you don't.
