I heard that the Marina on the Culvert had frozen solid, ad therefore the chairman's barge couldn't get close to the ground. We need some underwater heaters (switched on and working) to keep the canal free.

Don't we have to pay Spurs costs tooQuickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 12:51 pmLooking forward- do we just accept matches will be off on the Turf if we have snow again or are there solutions to postponing in?
I didn't think we would ever see a Premier league game called off for unfit pitches after Desso pitches came in, with added undersoil heating. But snow is a big problem.
Let's be honest, it will have cost the club a few quid in catering and stewards/police bill.
Do the corporate punters get reimbursed or free game for the rearranged meeting?

Yes, we could have put covers over the pitch, but these would have been removed before the snow started so would still have fallen on the pitch
His point about Manchester City’s game going ahead despite being close is irrelevant. The weather can be different in Nelson compared to Burnley

Where did this idea come from that heavy snow was forecast? I didn't see it. Light snow was forecast, about half an inch. If heavy snow was forecast, why isn't he having a go at the spurs team that set off far too late and arrived at the ground well after they were supposed to?

Also Manchester big city on mostly flat land 1/2 mill population creating a warmer thermal temperature that will shorten the lifespan of any snow clouds. Burnley a tenth of the size in a valley surrounded by hills and moors.dsr wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 4:18 pmI'm surprised he didn't mention that we don't have undersoil heating and that we didn't switch it on until 12 o'clock.

18, Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six."
Funnily enough if you add up every number on a Roulette wheel you also get Six Hundred and Sixty Six

Re: MATCH OFF.
After reading the Times report posted by Paul Waine it appears that the match was called off primarily by the agreement of both managers.
For all Dyches hard man posturing with him turning out in shirt & tie saying he was ready and wanting the game on, why didn't he insist on the game being played ?
Conte says he wanted the game on but it "was impossible" that's quite simply rubbish.
If the ref says the game could proceed with breaks every 15 minutes to clear the lines - what's wrong with that ?
Fans had / have a choice. Bosscat choose not to attend, that's his perogative. Any fan who felt it wasn't safe had a choice. Any fan who thought they may get stuck on the way home had a choice, don't attend or leave early.
I'm pretty sure there were many thousands who wanted the game on and would have seen it through.
I hope that the authorities fine or even dock points off both clubs for not fulfilling their fixture.

Bosscat - I wasn't getting at you or trying to imply you were the only one. I was saying fans ( all fans ) have a choice. Your choice not to attend because of the dodgy weather. Thats perfectly sensible and acceptable. I have no problem with that whatsoever.Bosscat wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 7:00 pmI stated our reason for not setting off to drive the 23 miles to the game ... we had 2" of Snow here and it was still snowing at 1pm ... What I'm getting at is how can 2 people ( the managers ) dictate when or how they want a game to be played.

Every fan had a choice, your was by the far most sensible post on why you decided not to attend.

Just think of all the games cancelled because of Covid and nobody could see that, there was only one person who had the power to call off the game it was the Ref, someone send him the bill.

Re: MATCH OFF.
Just had a look Damo and the comment is still there from BeatzInternational at 29 Nov 2021 9:42
"Obviously disappointed to have negotiated the snow over the tops on the drive to Burnley, only to hear the game was off just as I was getting out the car.
It was almost worth it though to see the number of random Spurs fans outing themselves as non-experts in undersoil heating or claiming Burnley didn't want to play as we had 6 players injured. (We had 1 injured but he wouldn't have played anyway)
The buffoonery wasn't limited to Spurs though as one Burnley fan spent about 12 hours ranting on a forum about how it was sunny half an hour after kick off time and the game should have gone ahead after an unspecified delay. Not sure why he was so arsed as he's in France. I'm sure all those on to trains from London would have loved waiting around in the freezing cold so they could leave at half time to get home."

Re: MATCH OFF.
Hi Nonay, funny how different people can read the same piece and have different understanding of what the writer meant. My understanding: the ref offered the two managers the opportunity to play the game "in 15 minute bits" with a break between each "bit" when the pitch would be cleared of snow. Otherwise the game couldn't be played. Now, can you imagine how long each of these breaks would be to re-clear the pitch? 10 minutes? 15 minutes? longer? So, players start to "cool down" at the end of each "bit" - and need to warm up again before they re-start. And, it's snowing and cold, perhaps even a little slippery, so think of the risk of injury in these situations. I'd have thought Dyche and Conte would have "lost it" if they'd made a decision to play in those circumstances.Nonayforever wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 6:49 pmAfter reading the Times report posted by Paul Waine it appears that the match was called off primarily by the agreement of both managers.
