What's your middle name?

Post by mkmel » Mon Nov 29, 2021 2:38 pm

My middle name is John so quite bland. John was my Dad"s first name but he did not like it so everyone called him by his middle name of Robert or should I say Bob.

So my Dad didn't like the name John and yet he gave it to me as my middle name.
Parents who'd have 'em!

What's your middle name? Reveal all no matter what it is no matter how strange and maybe give the reason behind you being given that middle name.

My middle name is also John, given for no particular reason.

My grandma, like your dad did not like or use her given name of Eileen and went by her middle name, Barbara. She then named her first daughter Eileen.

Joking apart I have always used my middle name ...

Plus the only people who call me by my 1st name are either Policemen or Doctors (Oh I forgot and the idiots who ring up from Amazon saying an order has been made on my prime account for £239.95 or from BT Internet telling me there has been a security problem with my interweb and they want me to give my details, or from my Visa Account saying a foreign payment of £575 has gone out)

There are some jokers on here. My middle name is Yvonne, after my Dad's favourite sister. Very boring.

My Dad was much more interesting. He had three forenames, none of which was Robert, yet he was called Bob by everyone. We even had 'Bob' engraved on his gravestone rather than any of his real forenames. How did he come by the name Bob? Apparently he was tiny at birth and when his aunt first saw him she said, "Oh, isn't he a little bob."

My Mum registered me and made it up on the spot, my Dad didn’t know she was going and was fuming he hadn’t been involved as he had wanted it to be Ralph after a certain Ex-Claret.

Stop your bitching!

When I first started work, I had a colleague called Richard or occasionally Ritchie but never Dick, whose parents, Mrs and Mrs Head, had far more to answer for.

We have an American friend who's got to be in her mid fifties and has answered to 'Cricket' her whole life, I'm sure that I've been told her given name at some point, but I'm damned if I can remember it and I suspect that I'm not alone in that; apparently even when she got married the priest inserted 'Cricket' as a precursor to her given names when conducting the service - 'so that people weren't confused'.

The name apparently came from her Grandmother who on first seeing her new granddaughter labelled her 'As cute as a cricket' and to be fair, she was probably right; Cricket's still pretty cute now.

Issac, named after my Great Uncle.

I still don't know the correct spelling to be honest, my passport and driving license have it spelt in different ways.

Dealt with an estate last year where the guys middle name was aloysius. Named as such to honour hitlers father.
His first name was rather too obvious.
You'd have thought that choosing to live in the UK, it might have been a good idea to get it changed. It's tough to think of a worse combination.
