Nketiah would be great but he played a blinder recentlyHedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 9:57 pmLoan with an open to buy would be ideal. No obligation but a chance for the player in question to put themselves in the shop window as Lingard did last year with West Ham, however he made the wrong decision to stay with United afterward.
Who will be available ? And who will be willing to come?
Not many from the top clubs in England I’d imagine with covid looming and Swiss being utilised -
Lingard
Barkley
Van de Beek
Origi
Nketiah
Would we really loan anyone from abroad who’s an unknown quantity ? I doubt it

We need to move quickly as we did with Hennessy & Collins. Leaving it to the end of the window can lead to being outbid during panic buying by our rivals

I have suspected for some time that Mr Pace has more idea of the European game than most of us, his love of the game stems from his time as a student in Milan I think) and I should imagine many of his peers are spread throughout Europe and many with more than a passing interest in football. TBH For that reason I will not be second guessing anything regarding incomings.

Just 3 players that have been mentioned already that we should seriously be bringing in right now, not just looking at, jed Wallace, Ben Davies, John swift, would all improve us, 2 of which are ooc shortly, not sure about the 3rd. But it's absolutely astounding that this thread has yet again reached 20 pages and have we signed anybody, have we hell as like.

We’re all hanging around chatting while things happen/drag on. Some of the liveliest chats this board gets happens about all and sundry and wish lists. Funny thing is when something happens there will be at least five other threads launched within seconds.alwaysaclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 10:57 pmJust 3 players that have been mentioned already that we should seriously be bringing in right now, not just looking at, jed Wallace, Ben Davies, John swift, would all improve us, 2 of which are ooc shortly, not sure about the 3rd. Given Covid and injuries, I can't see Spurs looking to offload Ben Davies when he's played a full 90 minutes in 8 of the last 9 games.alwaysaclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 10:57 pmJust 3 players that have been mentioned already that we should seriously be bringing in right now, not just looking at, jed Wallace, Ben Davies, John swift, would all improve us, 2 of which are ooc shortly, not sure about the 3rd. Isn't Ben Davies already on loan at Sheff Utd ?

It looks like its loans only for us.
Looks like new owners want to see what division we will be in before splashing more cash.

Astounding that we haven't signed anybody yet? This thread started long before the window opened, so we couldn't sign anyone then. As it is, it's only been open a week. Origi is not rubbish, he would be a massive upgrade on both Barnes and Jrod. The issue we have is the dire lack of quality and creativity from midfield, which is why we need to replace JBG, Cork and Westwood in the very near future. Id go as far as saying shift McNeil on as well, he looks far too uninterested lately!

Villa signed Coutinho on loan.
Wow that is some signing for a mid table team.

As a man invested in data and statistics Alan Pace will know that Burnley are second worst on expected Goals For (xGF) in the Premier League and that any hopes of survival diminished even further with the loss of leading scorer Cornet until March.
I am not expecting any major incomings but, maybe, a loan or two is still possible.

Wonder if it makes Trézéguet available. Someone mentioned him further back on here. He’d be a good option for our problem right hand side

If we’re looking for a LEFT side centre back to cover Mee then it might be advisable to target left footed players.

One thing that is for sure is that there wont be any early signings and that is not the Board's fault
WE are unlikely to be any players first pick for a move any target's agent will tell them to wait until the end of January to see what else is available

By which time it might be too little too late. With Cornet away we desperately need some pace and creativity in the side, I'm not panicking yet but in our current situation we need things to change sooner rather than later.Down_Rover wrote: ↑Fri Jan 07, 2022 10:44 amOne thing that is for sure is that there wont be any early signings and that is not the Board's fault

I’m not getting my hopes up! I think it’ll be too difficult to attract players where we sit in the league.

TBF I'm with you on a large part of your post. Our current midfield, including the wings isn't creative enough by far and barring the addiction of the excellent Cornet, it hasn't been addressed and it's a huge reason where where we are. I'll accept that Origi might not be rubbish and that he would be an upgrade on our current striking option, BUT for what he would cost in terms of wages alone he's really not an upgrade I'd be looking at as I believe we can do much better if we're going to pay out the kind of money we'll be talking. He's "not pulled up any trees" as people tend to say and every time I see him he seems like he's just a step up from the hapless Brewster.Jonny1910 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 07, 2022 9:31 amOrigi is not rubbish, he would be a massive upgrade on both Barnes and Jrod. Definitely agree and it's my worry too unfortunately. If Alan Pace rang me right now and asked my advice I'd say raid the bank and bust a gut to TRY to get 2 real quality midfielders in. Whether it's on loan or to buy. It COULD cost us £40 million, but it COULD keep us up and bring us £120 million at the end of the season. It's a gamble and I'm not a gambler and I've never advocated the club taking daft risks, but I honestly believe if there's a time to gamble it's now, as our PL adventure is simply fading away unless we do something.
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I know we are only 1week into the transfer window but there are 9 points to be played for before the end of January. We are desperate for points to keep in touch so if possible if it be buys or loans we need to strengthen sooner rather than later.

Personally I think we have a ready made player to cover for Ben. Charlie Taylor could easily make the same move that Ben did a few years ago and could prove to be even better than Ben.

Why not? If Tarks is leaving and we’ve continued our interest in Phillips, then surely the sooner e is in with the squad, the better? All clubs have targets and our priority is clearly the midfield, BUT if one of your other targets becomes a possibility, then you should never ever let it go by!
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Not a rumour but me personally would go for Reading midfielder John swift (26) he's got eight goals and nine assists in 21 league appearances and right winger Jed Wallace (27) at Millwall he's got 5 goals and 6 assists in 21 league appearances, both young and out of contract in the summer and probably could be picked up for 8/10 million for both.

Do you think Newcastle have paid top dollar for Tripps?
I don't and wirh him in early and some very winnable games in January, it's a master stroke from Eddie in my opinion.
