Some of the transfe rumours are laughable. Someone on the forum joked about Defoe joining us and a rumour suddenly appears elsewhere that Defoe could be joining Burnley. Obviously been reading this forum. Rumours are what ever anyone feels like makin up.

Who knew that when Barnfield was being constructed it had to undergo sign off and inspection from the Care Quality Commission.

Seems like Dyche continues to want his old pros whereas Pace prefers younger investment types according to the Athletic

Apologies, it's pretty tiresome on here being jumped on after every post, having to explain every fine detail to someone hoping to catch me in a trap. I can see Defoe being brought in like we did with Crouch and Steven Reid.
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
A few stories of this donkey being linked, Cardiff City striker Kieffer Moore, I hope we don't waste 10 million on this 29 year old, he's 6ft 5inch so it'll be back to lump it football, he's been at 11 clubs in 8 season's and got a massive 5 goals so for this season in the league below, a typical Dyche signing, tall target man to long ball to with no sell on value, bloody hope this is a smoke screen

Defoe and Lennon could form a devastating partnership.
undecided whether that would be in the Premier League or the local whist drive

Kieffer Moore isn't even the type of signing to get us out of the championship next year. It would be extremely worrying if we start blowing our money on this type of player.

Stinks of relegation if we sign Kieffer Moore.

Pace cannot allow Dyche to spend money on overpriced Championship players like Lyndon Dykes and Kieffer Moore.

I just looked at the Bundesliga table and I don't know what on earth is happening at Wolfsburg, fighting relegation but they've more than a few players I'd be looking at.
Schlager has always impressed me for Austria in central midfield.
Maxi Arnold is pure quality.
Baku is a young promising German right midfielder/right wing back.
Lukas Nmecha broke into German national team, finally developed into an effective player.
Wout Weghorst, started Euros as Dutch number 9, target man goalscorer.

Interesting to see Harry Wilson, a signing Dyche is known to have turned down from Garlick, absolutely ripping up the Championship this year with Fulham.
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Whoever we bring in needs to play straight away, also drop Tarkowski he's not interested, he's give a good few goals away this season and play Collins he's Burnley's future.

Just clicked on a story in the daily mail that says : Burnley hold talks with Lens midfielder Seko Fofana
of course if we were holding talks with the player that would mean that we've met the sellers asking price but once you read the story it says: Burnley have held talks with French side Lens for £14million-rated midfielder Seko Fofana.
That's not the same thing at all. One French paper suggested that we haven't even put in an official offer.
This does sound like a Maxwel Cornet sort of link. Probably the sort of player who'd have ambitions to do more than play in a relegation battle and there are some comments suggesting that the offer is laughable and should be two or three times that to even be considered.

If Dyche continues to push for older players with no resale value, it is time Pace moved on from him.

Fofana would be a serious signing. If pace could pull that off he’d show exactly what direction we’re going in. Very much a cornet type signing in that it’s unexpected and he is seen as very ambitious for us. Plays like a haha toure type - would be class for us to have the physical presence in the middle, but also brilliant dribbler.

Garlick stepped in by the end and pace has stopped it so far, just let him have Lennon back to keep him happy.

The Athelete article/snippet is a brilliant example of how journalists can create content from not a lot.
“It is thought their approach is different…….”
It doesn’t say that there is a difference in approach or that there is a source indicating there are differences between the 2. The journalist is doing what some on here are doing and looking at past performance to predict future performance.
Let’s reflect on the fact that it’s been talked about by pace that he wants to develop talent, he wants to use data and analytics better and have committees to agree and get everyone involved etc.
Now if Dyche was simply going to pay lip service to this and say he is up for this whilst continuing to just insist he will only work with who he and his coaching team decides then it’s a bit pointless isn’t it.
The point being here is that we have better insight from the club in our approach but we seem happy to hang on the words of a journalist who hasn’t actually said anything with substance.

Hennessey as an experienced deputy in a specialist position I can understand, would you rather Norris was our number 2?
Generally we do appear to be evolving our transfer strategy, and that's great to see at long last.
The summer will really be the indicator as we have 10 out of contract who aren't exactly getting any younger, and this feels like the genuine end of an era, a successful era no doubt, but all good things come to the end eventually, it's how we plan for the next phase in the clubs history that will be determine the immediate and longer term future.
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I’m not sure on that. The Athletic has journalist close to the club and their knowledge is usually spot on.
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
No surprises that Dyche wants the target old pro’s same situation we had under Garlick yet Garlick got all the blame.

I don't think you can blame Dyche for targeting old pros. It was all we could afford. A young, British, prem-quality player from the Championship will cost you £20 million plus.
