Have we signed anybody yet !! No, thought not. What names were being mentioned seem to have gone quiet and now the name on everybody's lips seems to be Andy Carroll, it really does make you wonder, do we have a scouting network, and if so, do they watch anybody. I'm seriously beginning to think not, but if we have one, get your damn fingers out, other clubs seem to find player's, if not for the first 11, good prospects that are not a million miles away. As was mentioned on another thread, who is ready to step up from the u23's that's good enough, it seems no one, yes there's a couple of pretenders but we all know that dyche won't gamble. Lost for words !!!

Cornet looks like a cracking player, but another starting left winger wasn't an urgent priority and it will be interesting to see how he gets on up front when he returns - without Woody keeping the oppositions defenders off his back. In terms of the price Teun Koopmeiners went to Atlanta and he has the making or a world class player. Could have beat Atalanta to his signature, probably not, but his transfer fee of 11m puts the 13.5m transfer fee of Cornet into perspective. Koopmeiners would have been immense for us and he is already proving his quality and worth at Atalanta.
As you said, he’s a starting winger rather than left wing, his best spell at Lyon was on the right, and he’s been great for us up top. You can’t complain at the price though, that fee is as good as any, and you can’t guarantee Koopmeiners would have done nearly as well in the prem for us.
Collins as well, we paid the going rate. Roberts was cheap. Our summer was good - if we’d had summers of that standard for a couple of years previously we wouldn’t be in our current position.

I’m happy to bet Burnley will pay agreed transfer fees, as agreed by the clubs involved.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 7:06 pmCan you prove the full transfer fees been paid & no instalments are outstanding?
Are you suggesting Alan Pace is operating a fraudulent business? I’d be very careful, before I’d start making careless comments.

Well Martin Hodge is "head of recruitment", I doubt he's doing it as a favour,
and "head of" sort of implies there are others.
However, we don't really know what goes on.

Being one of the 3 lowest scoring teams in the PL last season and having 4 strikers all aged around 30 years old obviously didn't start any alarm bells ringing. Given the fact that Barnes hasn't made an appearance for some time should have been another point of concern. If Wood had picked up a long term injury we would still be in this situation. A mess very much of the clubs making.

Well I'd suggest that someone reviews the amount of expenses the club are paying him, because it doesn't seem he or he's staff are going anywhere. But if his budget is sufficient, then its time someone put a bomb up his jacksy, and got him doing something with it, or get some others in who might be able to do better. The situation really is ridiculous !!!boatshed bill wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 8:24 pmWell Martin Hodge is "head of recruitment", I doubt he's doing it as a favour,

FFS ALL? I presume all this having a pop at each other is because your getting nothing out of the club to moan about? Can we please just get on with the same goal we all want. Debate is 1 thing, but full on keyboard warrior convention is taking it to an all time low! Take a breath and realise your alive and can breathe and make a decision, which is a lot more than others can do, so don't waste time.

I may get pelters here but with Vyds carrying an injury Defoe would be a great option for the remainder of the season, think he can still do a job and has the desire before he hangs his boots up at the end of the season...hat on

Not sure he'll win any Ben Mee lofted 50 yard specials against any centre back in this division.

split Martin Hodge's salary between me and LTL and you will see proper players enter the building.
Jota from Benfica is on loan at Celtic, Benfica asking for around £5m I heard. Celtic just signed Maeda, top scorer in J league and monster SoRare scorer!
Ola Solbakken is another from Bodo Glimt who LTL mentioned, incredibly talented left footed forward. Recently got his first Norway caps, oozed class in his national team debut v Latvia, (a game I watched live).
Jesper Karlsson a player I mentioned the other week, just won the player of the month in the Dutch league. A right footed left winger, incredibly talented with the ball, young, will see him at one of the top clubs in 2-3 years.
Lois Openda, lightening quick, 21 year old, Vitesse striker. Already matched his league goal tally (10) from last year.
I'd call up Benfica, they've got Ramos, Nunez, Yaremchuk and Seferovic. I think Seferovic will leave pretty soon providing a big club doesn't come in for Darwin. Seferovic a back to goal Swiss international, bags of experience and quality.
Luca Orellano right winger for Velez in Argentina, watched him play live quite a few times last year, fast and beat a man for fun. midget left footed right winger
I saw Atalanta were open to allowing Miranchuk to leave, full Russian international number 10, another absolute quality player.
Yusuf Demir, one of the hottest prospects in world football, was on loan at Barcelona but their financial position didn't allow them to spend 10 million euros to convert the loan to permanent from his Austrian team. Full Austrian international at 18 years old
Julio Enciso youngest ever Copa Libertadores goalscorer, Brighton already sniffing around him at £3m.
Sevilla just signed Jesus Corona from Porto for £3m, could potentially free up Suso to move on
Ricardo Pepi just went from the MLS to Augsburg, one of the brightest US talents in a long time. His team mate at Dallas Jesus Ferreira is another young American talent. Barco at Atlanta is a better player than Almiron was, Almiron was in a better Atlanta side too. Josef Martinez returned from ACL mid MLS season, another I'd look at, his goalscoring record is brilliant.

I don't play FM, I watch certain football leagues. My knowledge on French football is really bad, I watch more MLS than Serie A. Yes anyone who watches foreign football has to be a Football Manager player, I'm a SoRare player not Football Manager.

Indeed! the proof will be in the pudding, and if we don't strengthen when we've just had a £25m windfall we'll deserve to go down.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 10:07 pmi'm sure we are in contact with agents, but whose is the big question.

How many years and how many scapegoats have we had now for our lack of recruitment.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 8:24 pmWell Martin Hodge is "head of recruitment", I doubt he's doing it as a favour,
and "head of" sort of implies there are others.
However, we don't really know what goes on.
There is one common denominator that deliniates that time when we became crap at signing players, Sean.
He is a manager that doesn't want to take risks with players, he only wants to play it safe.

Exactly. Not something I am willing to slew potentially libellous accusations. People are legally responsible for the content of this board, and I quite enjoy popping on and off here. I’m not being dramatic, just asking if we can’t keep it sensible at least make accusations reasonable.
