"May open door for Collins"
"potentially opening"
"apparent interest"
"Collins may"
Sounds like guessing rather than knowing anything

Think Tarks release clause is only if 1 of the top 2 or 3 Northern clubs come in for him..aint gonna happen. After Brentford get their stash, best we can hope to have left would be 10 million.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 2:53 pmI read that to mean that Tarks has a huge release clause, and its up to Newcastle to pay it if they want him
And for us, its up to us to replace, or assume that Mee, Collins, Long and Thomas is enough
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I got the impression from SD’s Sky post match interview that if Newcastle offered the right money then he’d be gone. I could be completely wrong though.

I would guarantee that if Newcastle came in for Tarkowski they would be able to better any offer any other club could offer him when he is a free agent this summer. If the rumours are true I think we have seen Tarkowski play his last game for Burnley, lets hope we can get a large fee for him

Get the same feeling that the Arsenal game was his last for us. Not a bad way to go if it is the case.

Listening to the Totally Football show podcast, Daniel Taylor (sports journalist for the Athletic) says we've been sniffing around Brennan Johnson for a fee of around £16 million pounds

If SD was apparently best pleased Wood went to relegation rivals Newcastle, then after Tarks fantastic display v Arsenal he is going to feel very uneasy about Tarks going to Newcastle too. In Tarks case its high risk-if Newcastle go down even if they come up first time he will be 31 then. We must keep Tarks at all cost

I think David Taylor is the Forest correspondent (and a Forest fan) and the way he phrased it was that it was a lot of money to turn down for a championship side
Guess we will see

Might be wrong but I reckon he meant to say Brentford, rather than Burnley.

Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I mentioned this morning on the Tarky & Mee post I’d seen that Newcastle were intending making a bid for Tarky, possibly today. My concern is that it will be a bid that’s neither high nor low, in other words one that could be tempting bearing in mind the circumstances of his contract. Put on the spot probably £12-£15m.
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Not enough given his performance yesterday. He's had his critics and rightly so for some of his errors, but he has had some colossal performances too and survival is worth much more than 12-15mil, plus he would strengthen Newcastle no end.beddie wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 4:51 pmI mentioned this morning on the Tarky & Mee post I’d seen that Newcastle were intending making a bid for Tarky, possibly today. And we'd be mad not to when his replacement is already at the club
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
It seems some people continue to assume that even if we did accept an offer for Tarkowski he would be prepared to leave in January.

If we sell Tarks, the windfall for Brentford may enable them to add a few million to the Johnson deal and end up scuppering our chances (if we are in for him).
Him and the young Stoke striker would really be a signal of our intent for the future and where Pace and co see us growing in the future

Yeah I think it’s got to be £25m+ for me simply because it’s Newcastle.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 4:55 pmWe'll sell if its ridiculous (ala the bid for Wood)

Maybe that’s why we’ve seen the link with the Livingstone defender appear today who we may want to be Collins’ back up.

There have been several reports that he wants to stay until the summer when he would still get that sort of pay rise while keeping his options open.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 4:57 pmI think he'd leave if he gets the sort of pay rise that Wood got tbh
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
it's a difficult one and i agree with the sentiment yet I don't think he should go to any team in the bottom 6, especially Newcastle/Watford and Norwich, he will improve all of them and the funds to me are simply not worth it. Everton to partner MK maybe, just maybe.

Oh, there is that, but there is a guaranteed pay rise as opposed to one that might not materialise
I guess we will see, and I don't think we lose in either scenario
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
One would certainly materialise in the summer. Not convinced he'd move to Newcastle in January when they are at risk of relegation.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 5:02 pmOh, there is that, but there is a guaranteed pay rise as opposed to one that might not materialise

There is also the attraction of a hefty signing on fee if he leaves in the summer.

He’d get much more money if he waits until the Summer and it would too daft to sell him now for any price, especially to Newcastle. Wood was one thing but Tarkowski is another. If this happens, I will lose all faith.

I've seen a report that the Newcastle fans do not want Tarks. The way he played yesterday gave me the impression he'd sorted things out and he will stay until the summer. However, the way Tarks and Mee came over to the fans at the end of the game was a little ambiguous.

I know a Huddersfield fan very well - I couldn’t type the opinion of Mounie that Terriers fans have on here without being banned.
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Mounie would be an appalling signing. If we are looking at the likes of Mounie and Carroll we might as well just give up and try some youngsters out.

Once JT's contract runs out he is a free agent and can talk to anyone, discussing wages and sign on fees
I presume that would also not rule us out of offering him a new deal, him being then a free agent surely does not preclude us from the same scenario as other clubs
How much is it going to cost to replace him and should we not be offering a similar amount as part of a new deal to a "new" signing ?

Yeah! not for me either, and his PL stats hardly inspire 9 goals, 5 assists in 59 games, not exactly suggesting that he'll be the answer to our goal scoring woes is it.
Still got 2+ years on his contract as well, so he wouldn't be that cheap, 27 so not likely to increase in value, I'd prefer if we explored younger pacier options TBH then waste dough on a journeymen like him.
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
From Brennan Johnson links to Steve Mounie. And we all know which one is the more likely…

I just think there are smoke screens being put out by Burnley… but I wish they’d hurry up and get some bodies over the line. Talking to a host of players only benefits the team if some are signed… we need bodies, but the right bodies in. The draw at Arsenal was great to see, but we clearly lacked punch.

1. Dyche (and the club) have made clear lots of times that often you sign players you "don't need now" because they become available and you don't pass it up if they are good enoughDark Cloud wrote: ↑Mon Jan 24, 2022 1:53 pmI have to say I get the point here. I've said several times on here that we clearly recruited 3 excellent first team squad additions in the summer and fair play to Alan and Co for that. BUT it was obvious that we desperately needed to strengthen in CM and by failing to do so we have put the future of those excellent signings in doubt because none will want to play in the Championship if they can help it. By selling Wood we have compounded the problems as we're now desperately light up front. I wasn't really sorry to see Wood depart when you look at the money offered, but it needs reinvesting extremely sharpish in a quality replacement. CM should have been the number one priority in the summer and yes picking up Collins and Roberts inadvertently along the way was fine, but it appears we took our eye off the most pressing issues. (IMO)
2. Wood leaving was a complete surprise (ie no-one thought anyone would fork out the release fee and let's be honest if anyone suggested we might get even 18m for Wood heading roward 31 and the final year of a contract they would have been hounded out with derision)
3. We did "sign" an attacking CM who chose to go to a Championship club instead despite us offering more money
