I read that to mean that Tarks has a huge release clause, and its up to Newcastle to pay it if they want him

And for us, its up to us to replace, or assume that Mee, Collins, Long and Thomas is enough

Think Tarks release clause is only if 1 of the top 2 or 3 Northern clubs come in for him..aint gonna happen. After Brentford get their stash, best we can hope to have left would be 10 million.

If SD was apparently best pleased Wood went to relegation rivals Newcastle, then after Tarks fantastic display v Arsenal he is going to feel very uneasy about Tarks going to Newcastle too. In Tarks case its high risk-if Newcastle go down even if they come up first time he will be 31 then. We must keep Tarks at all cost

Not enough given his performance yesterday. He's had his critics and rightly so for some of his errors, but he has had some colossal performances too and survival is worth much more than 12-15mil, plus he would strengthen Newcastle no end.

If we sell Tarks, the windfall for Brentford may enable them to add a few million to the Johnson deal and end up scuppering our chances (if we are in for him).

Him and the young Stoke striker would really be a signal of our intent for the future and where Pace and co see us growing in the future

Yeah I think it’s got to be £25m+ for me simply because it’s Newcastle.

it's a difficult one and i agree with the sentiment yet I don't think he should go to any team in the bottom 6, especially Newcastle/Watford and Norwich, he will improve all of them and the funds to me are simply not worth it. Everton to partner MK maybe, just maybe.

One would certainly materialise in the summer. Not convinced he'd move to Newcastle in January when they are at risk of relegation.

Once JT's contract runs out he is a free agent and can talk to anyone, discussing wages and sign on fees

I presume that would also not rule us out of offering him a new deal, him being then a free agent surely does not preclude us from the same scenario as other clubs

Yeah! not for me either, and his PL stats hardly inspire 9 goals, 5 assists in 59 games, not exactly suggesting that he'll be the answer to our goal scoring woes is it.

Still got 2+ years on his contract as well, so he wouldn't be that cheap, 27 so not likely to increase in value, I'd prefer if we explored younger pacier options TBH then waste dough on a journeymen like him.

I just think there are smoke screens being put out by Burnley… but I wish they’d hurry up and get some bodies over the line. Talking to a host of players only benefits the team if some are signed… we need bodies, but the right bodies in. The draw at Arsenal was great to see, but we clearly lacked punch.

I have to say I get the point here. I've said several times on here that we clearly recruited 3 excellent first team squad additions in the summer and fair play to Alan and Co for that. BUT it was obvious that we desperately needed to strengthen in CM and by failing to do so we have put the future of those excellent signings in doubt because none will want to play in the Championship if they can help it. By selling Wood we have compounded the problems as we're now desperately light up front. I wasn't really sorry to see Wood depart when you look at the money offered, but it needs reinvesting extremely sharpish in a quality replacement. CM should have been the number one priority in the summer and yes picking up Collins and Roberts inadvertently along the way was fine, but it appears we took our eye off the most pressing issues. (IMO)
