We’ve been overrun most of the season with Westwood and Brownhill as our midfield two. A huge part of why we find ourselves in our current position in the league is because we failed to address the central midfield issues in the summer. It’s been a glaring and growing weakness for over a year.

I’m not against the two likely signings and certainly don’t dispute a need for reinforcements in both positions, but if we fail to reinforce the centre of midfield, I fear it will be a big mistake.

There have been plenty of links to suggest it’s an area we are looking at, but for me it’s an absolute priority.

The best form of defence isn’t attack in the Premier League, certainly not for a team with a more modest budget. That sort of approach night see us scoring a few more but the goals against column would sky rocket.

We haven't been pressing enough though upfront, we haven't given the opposition enough to think about, so they've been given more freedom to run at us as a result.

If we attack more and occupy the opposition you'll find our midfield isn't being over ran as much

I’ve seen another post that their Ultras firm are ‘politely’ asking that Orsic stay. Pictures of them with flares and a banner.

Not a good sign, either.

Chris Boden has tweeted a link to a Croatian sports paper saying that they have refused our £10 million offer

I suspect this might not be as clear cut as it looks

It’s conceivable that their Ultras have demanded he stay for the title run in, which has prompted their u-turn, if indeed there is one.

It’s a shame we aren’t looking to reduce the age bracket of the players we want and plan ahead with the signings. Weghorst clearly another ‘short term fix’ but his scoring record seems decent. That daily mail article is rather scary with the suggestion we looked at donkeys Lyndon Dykes and Kieffer Moore.
Short term fix is exactly what a team needs in January when it’s bottom of the league.

Why does it always have to be a failing on our part?

None of us really have the foggiest about the realities of signing a player.

Deals take time and that time has now been extended because of Brexit.

From what I’ve picked up, both deals are moving forward as expected. There are never guarantees until the signature is on the forms but I believe there is plenty to be optimistic about with these two deals.

Do you think we're likely to have a reasonable chance of landing any third signing this window Tony?

If we can get these two over the line I would be 100% sure with the games in hand that we could survive. Always been a glass ½ full happy clapper type, but those 2 with Cornet back add some massive attacking power to us. Come on Burnley!!!

It’s quite bizarre on how we are generally kept informed on the progress of our transfers now.

These two signings are like Cornets , when we were getting updates from social media and the media , seemingly on ever twist and turn of the negotiations over the days and weeks of the transfer.

Fortunately these two, if they happen, will be over a shorter time but fingers crossed they have the same happy ending as Cornet.

We certainly need more than just two signings. Centre midfield and right wing also need sorting this window.

We are signing a winger. Cornet McNeil Orsic (potentially) can all operate from the right.

Cornet played his best football for Lyon on the right.

McNeil and Orsic are more than capable of rotating mid game.

Let’s hope so but don’t underestimate the position we are in. I’d be happier if Brentford and one other side maintained poor form but then that’s because I think Newcastle will escape

If Orsic were to play wide left I hope he’s as good getting back as he appears to be going forward. DMc always puts a goodly shift in defensively. He’s more likely to be our attacking MF for me.

I don't underestimate our predicament 1 bit, in fact for a postive supporter before Arsenal it was looking very ominous. However, a classic clarets performance at the Emirates, the return of King Cornet, hopefully with 2 quality additions to the first team and things start to look a lot rosier. If we can win our games in hand, or at least some we can climb this league.

I have faith we can pull of another Premier League turnaround against all odds as it was when Wood left.

The quote from the paper by NewClaret was missing the last few paragraphs so I’ve obliged….

I know this is bartering with an entire nation (and a tough one) and their biggest club, but it has the feel of Tarkowski and Brentford to me. One of the best things about being in this league is the sense we are viewed as a big club with power. We’ll miss it when its gone.

Definitely, it is not an easy decision when it comes to Dinamo. Oršić has become one of the symbols of Dinamo's success, a man that the team would greatly miss not only in terms of playing, but also in that symbolic sense. It's like Bayern selling Lewandowski. With such a transfer, three interests need to be settled. Dinamo's interest, Oršić's interest and Burnley's interest. The interest of the Blues is certainly not to jeopardize the race for the title by weakening the team, but also to earn an amount that will have a significant impact on finances.

At least, the offer of 10 million euros that sat down from Burnley to Maksimir's address is very ticklish. But it also emphasizes another fact. Dinamo therefore rejected the offer. When the club rejects an offer of 10 million euros for its 29-year-old player, and when he does not know if he will ever get such a lucrative one for him again, then that speaks to the strength of the club. By currently rejecting the 10 million euro offer, Dinamo has really shown enormous strength.

Now, will Oršić be sold in the end if Dinamo brings reinforcements by the end of the transfer window that could replace him? It is still open. During the day, information arrived that the story about the arrival of Lukas Kačavenda was waking up again, but as it arrived, it was extinguished. The Italians write that Genoa is interested in the young Lokomotiva player, but the youngster still has offers. Also, there is no chance that Kristijan Lovrić will arrive in the Blue Home, nor Robert Murić. Like Martin Ojeda, who joined Godoy Cruz's trainings, at least Dinamo's offer of 5.3 million euros still stands. Like Emreli from the Legion ... Colak is too expensive, 3.5 million euros seems too much. That's how things look now ....

A new name that Dinamo is interested in does not appear on the horizon. The winter transition period is somewhat specific, in the winter there is usually no work on a serious reconstruction of the team. Unless a position wants to be improved, as is the case with Petar Bočkaj, or as Dinamo wanted to bring Ojeda to the right wing position.

Dinamo does not officially comment on this topic, they do not want to make a football 'Big Brother' out of a possible transfer. Information leaks through the surrounding roads. We are waiting

Why does it always have to be a failing on our part?

None of us really have the foggiest about the realities of signing a player.
I never implied it was a failing on.our part,it's always seems though fate, or another club with deeper pockets come in and muddys thecwater.

In what world would a right wing supporters group have any control over the business of the club?
I believe Lazio have a similar issue...

Just hope catching up on these games in hand don’t weigh us down

To save going back over all the pages today, it looks like Orsic and Weghorst are happening. Any news on a CM?

If these deals come off the club should make sure the Turf is packed out for the Watford game, make it a carnival get national flags etc. Let's get a real buzz around the club again.
