In their dealings with the Croatian club and the player, BFC must have sensed hesitancy and hopefully kept their options open. They will now need to motor with a week-end and one day only left. There have been a few porkies reported though about Orsic-how he had said good bye to his colleagues, desperate to play in the PL, and not phased by relegation. Very disappointing

I agree. The way some posters get flight trackers out and get so giddy over a few obscure tweets is bizarre.
Most sensible folk probably knew the script.

Those blaming Pace and Burnley need to give their heads a wobble.
He flew in to meet the agent and player. As has been reported deal agreed on all sides.
Probably given the night to think about it and player decides to stay. He's had pressure from the owner, ultra's and for all we know maybe family.
We move on and still have time to get deals both permanent and loan done.
Pace has had 1 window and did well, keep the faith!

Under the new regime, I would have expected they have understood what our failings have been regarding transfers under the previous ownership and look to not have a repeat show.

You’d have thought with work permits etc any signing now may have to be domestic (Weghorst aside which is seemingly already advanced).
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I thought with us not playing at least i could enjoy a weekend without Clarets stress or gloom, but that's gone out the window now....
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Very disappointing so late in the window. I just hope we have other options available. Weghorst alone will not be enough to keep us up, we still need another pacey forward and midfielder.

Blocking the attention seeking troll btw
Ouch, this is a bad one, as we really needed the options in midfield
But I don't think we could have done anything more
We agreed a deal, he wanted to come, Dinamo agreed to let him go because of the service he'd given, fan backlash resulting in Dinamo (and probably Orsic) changing their minds
And that looks like its backed up by the press reports over the past week
But its a big blow no doubt about it

Maybe the best time to remember that we kept a clean sheet at the Emirates last week, have kept Tarkowski and are due to get Cornet back. We can stay up even with this group, its just harder.
Far from ideal this morning, the player looked gutted to me, all this talk of him changing his mind is likely to be just the player choosing not to kick up a huge fuss (he does after all play in that stadium for the national team so can hardly disappear for good). But in truth there is little difference between us refusing to sell players this window (unless forced to) and them doing the same.
I would be expecting us to bust a gut now though to get something else over the line, like that lad at L’Orient.

Is it that people on here don't believe the stories but just engage in improbable hyperbole as some kind of cathartic attempt to escape from reality or do people on here genuinely believe what is written in he media?

So all it takes to keep a player is to whinge about it in public and cry to the club you support?

Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
The good news is the more important deal for Weghorst remains alive, Weghorst and a central midfielder would likely be better than Orsic and Weghorst.

How does work permit stuff work? Can we sort the work permit after the deadline providing the deal between the clubs and player has been fully agreed?

The reason given in a number of media outlets (not sure if they have different sources) is that Zagreb were happy with the fee but did not like the method of payment. No idea if that is the truth but that is what is being reported.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 9:51 amBlocking the attention seeking troll btw

Nobody knows. There’s various reports from we had a few rejected, it was about the terms, to the player had a change of heart.ClaretPete001 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 9:57 amThe reason given in a number of media outlets (not sure if they have different sources) is that Zagreb were happy with the fee but did not like the method of payment. That would be disappointing if we did indeed receive the Wood fee upfront.ClaretPete001 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 9:57 amThe reason given in a number of media outlets (not sure if they have different sources) is that Zagreb were happy with the fee but did not like the method of payment. So much for these super verified Twitter sources saying the deal was almost done & dusted a couple of days ago, these things are never ever confirmed until he’s actually signs until then it’s always in doubt.
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
CT posted on here last night implying the deal was done. By all intents and purposes it seems like there’s been a last minute change. Perhaps you can shed some light CT?Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 10:04 amSo much for these super verified Twitter sources saying the deal was almost done & dusted a couple of days ago, these things are never ever confirmed until he’s actually signs until then it’s always in doubt.

Looking at another thread only 15 deals done to date through out the Premier league and 3 of those were by Watford. If spent wisely the 25 million for Wood could be a blessing in disguise but not in a January transfer

Like I said you can read about advanced stages & the player is determined to join until he actually signs it’s never confirmed, it’s easy for me to now say I had doubts but I did I never posted this because I would have been accused of being negative, the thing was just dragging on for far too long for a player who’s supposedly desperate to join us.

It's a bit gutting, but I'd say getting a striker in is far more important. If the deal for the Dutch lad collapses then it might be time to panic, not now.
