My only possible thought on Gosling coming in as fourth choice central midfielder is if one of Cork or Stephens is leaving during this window, they are both out of contract in the summer (we do have an option with Cork for a further twelve months).
A first choice central midfielder is still a major necessity for us and we all know he isn't that.

What's the point of bringing Gosling in as 4th choice, even if one of Cork/Stephens departs we'll still have 3 ageing midfielders, and Gosling would be another signing with no resale value, and yet more wages down the drain in my view.Goody1975 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 9:09 pmMy only possible thought on Gosling coming in as fourth choice central midfielder is if one of Cork or Stephens is leaving during this window, they are both out of contract in the summer (we do have an option with Cork for a further twelve months).

Agree a younger first choice centre mid is vital, not another squad filler.

I would say two things. If the club can't do better than this then it is hard to justify the method used to purchase the club. You don't need to be a Wall Street trader to know that you can't shop in Harrods on an Oobidoo budget unless you know where the bargains are.
And, secondly, I agree relegation would be worrying not least because we would probably lose Tarko, Mc Neil and Cornet but also because the remaining first 11 would be the first in Premiership team in history to be able to travel to the game on a bus pass.

Many on here have decided he's already signed cause Nixon mentioned him, it makes no sense but if there is any substance in it at all I was trying to think of why it would even be considered.

It seems that Burnley fans are living up to their reputation. No matter what someone does, it'll always fall short to those idiots that expected, no demanded, 4 or 5 players in in January. At least I am happy with the efforts Mr Pace and co are putting in, but if you aren't, deal with it withour appearing to be the 4ssholes we are, collectively, thought to be.

If we were relegated we wouldn't be a Premier league team, nor a premiership one, so no history would be being made....ClaretPete001 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 9:14 pm

I think most would accept the bare minimum. Which was two signings before we sold Wood. Now three as a minimum.

1 would be a start. as it stands we're currently going to come out of this window in a worse state than when we entered it.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 9:21 pmI don’t think anyone has said 4-5 signings.

Assuming we get WW in tomorrow that still only leaves us in the same position we were prior to the window opening.
CM & RW still not strengthened yet again.
Still time for things to happen, but the clock is rapidly ticking.

It's January so, unless you have unlimited millions, it's not going to happen.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 9:21 pmI don’t think anyone has said 4-5 signings.

We were going to spend 12 on Orsic and now we’re signing Gosling so yes that’s correct.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 9:36 pmare you trying to suggest you genuinely believe if Garlick had given Dyche 10 million to spend instead of short of 1 million Dyche would still have gone for Stephens ?

Having seen Helm play we'd just as well keep our powder dry and forget Gosling, and (in the event of 3 CMs being out) give the lad a go.

Which tbf is absolutely how it should be, but doesn't exactly fill any of us with the greatest of confidence that anything will happen, as some have said on here, you can just see it tmrw, interview from dyche - : unfortunately we've not been able to add, and we go with what we have, that's definitely not the case.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 9:53 pmAnything we might be working on has definitely been kept quiet

We are about to sign Weghorst, and just failed to sign Orsic, and because someone who knew nothing about either deal suddenly mentions someone we really don't need, most of you decided to go into full doom mode?
Just think about it for sec, who we've been linked too, and who is coming in, and fit bloody Gosling into that?
It doesn't fit
At all

Not meant to sound like that. I just don’t think we are trying to bring in those we have been linked with such as Origi & Gosling.

I think we have to put our faith in Pace and Co. in trying their utmost
to bring in decent players who will improve the team and hopefully help
us get a few wins and stay up. How successful the club may or may not be
we'll have a better idea after tomorrow and in the next few weeks.
Or maybe the last few weeks? More than likely.
After Watford we've got a tough run of fixtures but I'd like to think
that we'll have a goodish run from say 6 games where we can 10 or more points.
If we can still be in with a shout with 6 game or so to go so I'd be reasonably happy.
Makes for an exciting end to the season.
