I suspect with a day to go Ramsey is now talking to everyone.
It sounds like Wolves want him, maybe Palace and if it were just us Newcastle would grab him just for a laugh. I just can’t see it but if you don’t buy a ticket……
I’m also struggling to see where he would fit into our system, not a midfield two these days and if in the hole behind WW where does Cornet play? Class player at his peak though so willing to roll with it and see.

There's going to be a lot of people on here doing little or no work later on today as they keep refreshing this thread and scour the internet for rumours and news.

As I said, you should have read my subsequent post.burnleymik wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 11:30 pmThis guy, if it is the same Brad as his previous account had a lot of good info on our previous transfer window. If I'd have paid attention and clocked who the link was from I wouldn't have commented at all, I've been on his old twitter for ages and had no idea it had been closed down (bizarre happening tbh). I don’t even think that’ll be enough, we won’t have a stronger squad than Newcastle at the finish like for like, I keep wondering who else we are going to pull in apart from newcastle, Leeds & Everton are too good I think, palace & Southampton always seem to get by & pick points up, Brentford but even them are on 23pts a good 11 pts away & thats 3 wins & 2 draws & we've only won 1 all season this far on with over half a season gone. The teams just aren’t there in contention or too far away already for a team that can’t win to catch up.

Apart from Weghorst I really can't see us getting anyone else in at this late stage which is a pity. It will be a case of "we tried hard to get them over the line but ran out of time" "the January window is always a tough one" "we just can't compete with the funds of other clubs" etc.
Any other signings will be a bonus but with our funds and current league position it will be tough trying to persuade any good young player to join us. Hopefully I'll be proved wrong but I'm feeling more realistic than optimistic.

It’s an understandable view, I honestly think with a decent CM, Rm we will rapidly turn our fortunes around. We just need some added quality to the workhorse ethic we have.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 7:08 amI don’t even think that’ll be enough, we won’t have a stronger squad than Newcastle at the finish like for like, I keep wondering who else we are going to pull in apart from newcastle, Leeds & Everton are too good I think, palace & Southampton always seem to get by & pick points up, Brentford but even them are on 23pts a good 11 pts away & thats 3 wins & 2 draws & we've only won 1 all season this far on with over half a season gone. By all accounts we should have made at least two signings but have been let down or messed around on one at the eleventh hour.Firthy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 7:31 amApart from Weghorst I really can't see us getting anyone else in at this late stage which is a pity. I’ll say this before we see the results today but my perspective, from the outside looking in, is that we seem to have tried harder than ever on our recruitment. That’s all I ask. Yes it’s results that count, but if you’re a realist you’ll take account of the fact we won’t be able to persuade every player we might like to join us, either in a footballing sense or economically. Or club in January, whatever we might be prepared to pay.
Good luck to Alan an the recruitment team working on these deals today. Fingers crossed the months hard work comes to fruition.
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I think the encouraging thing is it looks like we have a proper scouting/recruiting team. Regardless of whether we stay up or not this summer is a massive rebuild with so many out of contract.
If we are relegated we may need to look a little lower but at least I now feel we will be looking at the right sort of players rather than Championship cast offs.

Of course not it’s just realistic, I can pretend & be positive if you want me to be? By now we should have at least 3 new players already bedded in the squad, if only we was as quick with getting people through the door as people going out of the door all would be well.

We seem to be stuck between two stools a bit. We’re obviously targeting demonstrably better players than we have in the past, but sitting rock bottom with 1 win all season is hampering our attempts to convince them to come.andyh wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 8:14 amI think the encouraging thing is it looks like we have a proper scouting/recruiting team. Not seen anything to substantiate it, but I'm really hoping we can get Jason Knight. Understand Derby would be reluctant to sell given their position (and it looks like they've got the momentum to pull it off), but if we're creative about it, and loan them Stephens or even Cork at this stage whilst still paying their wages to push it through I think it'd be worth it!

It would be an incredibly risky strategy to give up a PL proven/experienced player for unproven potential in a relegation battle.FeedTheArf wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 8:44 am

All for testing their administrators resolve, but not in place of experience.

Wood out and Wout in, whilst an upgrade in that position, if that’s our only business, that’s a huge failure of a window in which Newcastle and Watford have both strengthened.
Plenty of time to go yet, but we desperately need a CM upgrade (so not gosling) as a minimum.
If we are serious about being in for Ramsey, You would expect us to have a solid second choice that will upgrade our first 11 if we are throwing those kind of wages about, all be it a loan contribution %
I just hope we didn’t have specific single targets, and get none, but let’s see.
It’s great that Pace has been flying about getting deals done (or not) but do we have anyone else on the job? Like experienced football people to get this stuff done - the Example being Villa who have Purslow heading up a top setup, and it shows in how they “just get things done”. Obviously different finances but you get my point.

Let’s rephrase “them finish below us” to “we finish above them”
We have won 1 game, and it’s February tomorrow. We need 4 wins to go above Brentford, assuming they don’t win anymore.
Does everyone else see a different league table to me lol?

So you are saying a massive flip in results, Burnley have won 1 in 18 and would need to win at least 6 or 7 more and those other teams will have to go on one hell of a drop, okay let's go again what 6 or 7 games are we going to winburnley007 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 8:51 amWatford, Norwich, Everton, Brentford....there you go, that's 4 that will finish below Burnley.

Whatever happened to the young up and coming player agenda ?
If we do go down that will be seen as the criminally negligent aspect of our recruitment policy.
All successful sides need succession planning, it’s the thing we’ve forgotten.

Roll on 11pm when we are spared this until the summer window. The one real positive to take from all this is those who have whined all month about lack of signings and the prospect of relegation surely aren't going to start tomorrow saying the dame things over and over again, they will have bored even themselves won't they ?

Out of these I can't see Everton or Newcastle going 10-12 games without a win, Leeds and Brentford are to far away for us to catch its not a crystal ball you need its just common sense, I absolutely hope we pull off the great escape but being a realist I can't see it
