Nixon recons they will be in for Mee and Tarks with a bid also for Tripps… he’s after a post Dyche back four, we always said that Howe needed Dyche to sort his defence out.

Why would Mee and Tarkowski want to go to Newcastle and play in Championship next season when they can stay at the Turf and carry on playing Premiership Football next season

A city club, 52,000 dedicated and barmy supporters, a large wage increase and attacking football. Jeff Hendrick has few regrets about the move, Tarkowski and Mee could do likewise ......but I hope they don’t!

I think it would appeal to Mee as a last hurrah big pay day, possibly; possibly less so to Tarks but there is money, potentially his CB team mate and the chance to play with fellow England defender Tripps…DAVETHEVICAR wrote: ↑Mon Dec 06, 2021 7:42 pmThought Tarkowski wanted a big club to get back playing for England

A potential triple signing I dread, on many levels.

Doesn’t Tarky want to play Champions League football and the big reason he wants out?

With who next season? If Moyes is keen, that would make sense, just. Free punt at Newcastle, ground floor of the takeover, massive wages, sign on fee and safety net release clause if relegated this season.ClaretLoup wrote: ↑Mon Dec 06, 2021 7:54 pmDoesn’t Tarky want to play Champions League football and the big reason he wants out?

But Newcastle Utd is a much bigger club, they may stay up (would have a better chance with Tarks and Mee in), and pay better money.DAVETHEVICAR wrote: ↑Mon Dec 06, 2021 7:42 pmThought Tarkowski wanted a big club to get back playing for England

There is more chance of Champs League with Newcastle than with Burnley (only a little bit )
And we've seen Lascelles and Clark

We would be mad to sell to relegation rivals, wouldn't we?

Re: Newcastle fans eyeing Clarets!
Or insane not to. I can see this really appealing to Ben Mee, one last chance to fill the mattress. It would push any move for Tarks up a gear… and we need a bloody big pot to either get players in or deal with the consequences of losing our rocks/ bringing fresh legs in.Juan Tanamera wrote: ↑Mon Dec 06, 2021 8:13 pmWe would be mad to sell to relegation rivals, wouldn't we?

Buy the lad Hill from Fleetwood, take a chance with Long and Thomas, plus Pieters at a push, as cover.
Buy a midfielder who can carry the ball at pace....
Just a bit of reverie

As a ready made back 2, £50 million should do given they are both out of contract soon.

With the rational head on… bloody good business potentially for club and player/s. If we can plug the gaps and add a couple of fighters, it might be something the club would look at, is my take.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Mon Dec 06, 2021 8:40 pmWhat if we get really good money for them?

Hope you are right, and no reason yet, to feel otherwise.
Re: Newcastle fans eyeing Clarets!
Thought Tarks had one of his poorest games last Saturday. Distribution was poor. Maybe he just missed Ben

Tbh, if they want to go……..they’d get a “thanks for everything” from me…..
Then file under “goodbye”.

Re: Newcastle fans eyeing Clarets!
Listening to a BFC snippet on the Athletics podcast today with Mark Chapman, they were reporting Tarks has “long standing admirers” in Italy & Spain as well as the West Ham, Leicester, Newcastle etc over here. He will have his pick of offers in the summer. I’d suggest he would also interest a top level club as a backup option.
He will also be offered an absolute wedge of a signing on fee in the summer, easily £5m+ from a big club so it makes sense for him to wait it out and not do anything hasty.
Ben Mee won’t leave IMO - he comes across as a dedicated club ambassador & leader and I just don’t think he would leave for a rival, I imagine his career panned out far better (earnings) than he imagined it would. Then again, money can talk we know that.
Tripps has only missed 3 La Liga games so is clearly part of DS plans, and I wouldn’t be swapping Madrid for Newcastle. I follow his Insta and his life looks wonderful to me

Re: Newcastle fans eyeing Clarets!
Tarky's distribution was sloppy on Saturday but it usually is when he's on the left hand side.
Not sure that him and Mee would look anywhere near as good playing behind Almiron, Shelvey, Willock and Saint Maximin either. Not much of a shield that is it.

Re: Newcastle fans eyeing Clarets!
The concern with this is we'd have to decide whether to sell in Jan or not
If Newcastle give us stupid money, then we'll sell
I for one don't fancy a winner takes all game at the Turf with our two CBs joining Newcastle after the game is finished
I don't doubt their professionalism btw, but its certainly going to prey on their minds as the season goes on, and if they are not going to sign it might be better to let them go

Re: Newcastle fans eyeing Clarets!
Both reported to have a sell on clause and Mee's was said to be really high. Would sooner we kept them than made peanuts and strengthened a main rival.
