Nope, 3 points will be massive but a loss in December wont end our season by a long shot

Re: Is Watford a must win?
I'd say it's a mustn't lose .
Re: Is Watford a must win?
Can't afford to lose against Watford and we need to
keep within distance of those above us and hope that we can
turn things around soon, very soon.
Lose to Watford and I think we're gonners.

I'd say yes. It's obviously not going to seal our fate should we lose, but we really have to start winning football matches and get some momentum going..

Yes, you need to beat the teams near the bottom if you want to stay up.

Every game is must win until we are out of this mess.
7-8 wins required from 23 games. They have got to start coming from somewhere

Can somebody add it to the list….. thanks in advance.
Re: Is Watford a must win?
Yes it is a must win.
A win takes us above them and onto 14 points.
A defeat leaves us languishing in the relegation zone.
We need to win ten games and Watford should be one of them.

Re: Is Watford a must win?
I said Newcastle was a "mustn't lose" and we did. If we lose to Watford it will surely be terminal. Not NECESSARILY a must win, but DEFINITELY a mustn't lose!
Re: Is Watford a must win?
Not yet. Wednesday is a big game but if we draw on Wednesday i don't believe that means we will be relegated. You are obviously surprised at me saying this but I was perplexed at you saying Wolves away was a must win.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 6:24 pmI’m interested to know at what point games become must win for you?

I think every game at the moment is a must win.
Re: Is Watford a must win?
I don't. Wolves away was a decent result and point for example with so many games still to go.

it's more than 3 points, the damage done to the losing side will be massive.

How about.... when you must win, or something bad will happen?
There can be important to win games, 6 pointers, etc..... but MUST win is in the name,

Re: Is Watford a must win?
I'd take a much better attacking performance to be honest
We've certainly successfully shored up at the back, but at the cost of nearly all our creative and goal scoring spark that was there
I think a defeat wouldn't be terminal, but a defeat and a terrible performance possibly could be

Re: Is Watford a must win?
Exactly. Wednesday is a very important game. But if we say draw it doesn't mean it will or is very likely to be terminal or catastrophic which is what I regard as 'must win'. Must win games rarely occur in December with 23 games still to play.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 6:35 pmHow about.... when you must win, or something bad will happen?

Re: Is Watford a must win?
The "must win" games generally occur in, say, the last eight or ten games of the season when you are lnot winning enough points and games are running out.
We could beat Watford handsomely and then lose the next two or three. A win would be a massive boost short -term, a defeat a massive blow short-term but that's all - nothing, absolutely nothing will be determined one way or another.
Level of performance and our approach will be of vital importance.

Re: Is Watford a must win?
I disagree, we need short term wins to put us in a position to be able to attract players in January.evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 6:46 pmThe "must win" games generally occur in, say, the last eight or ten games of the season when you are lnot winning enough points and games are running out.

If we are 6-8 points adrift no decent player would want to come
Re: Is Watford a must win?
A draw wouldn’t be an unmitigated disaster but I’d lump on us getting relegated if we fail to pick up all three points.

Both games were must win 2 points dropped today. We now need 3 points against a very average Watford team

Re: Is Watford a must win?
We really need a win, not particularly because it's Watford but because we need to reach 40ish points and we won't do it with draws alone
Re: Is Watford a must win?
It's an odd way of defining a must win gameNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 7:11 pmI think you can class these games as must win because if we don’t we won’t attract the players in Jan to keep us up

,we started the game on 10 points we ended the game on 11 points, that's 1 point gained not 2 points droppedWoodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 12, 2021 7:10 pmBoth games were must win 2 points dropped today. We now need 3 points against a very average Watford team

Re: Is Watford a must win?
I think it is more important for moral going into Christmas, rather than point value. No matter how professional a player is it is easier to play well in mid table than around the bottom. The sooner we get out the better the football and the higher we finish.

Re: Is Watford a must win?
A defeat or draw wouldn't finish our season, but we really need to dent our relegation rivals, so yes for me it's a game we have to treat as a must win.
I'd have settled for 4 points against the Hammers and Watford, however if we could only win 1 it would be the latter, simply because it ensures we climb out of the bottom 3, I think for the 1st time this season, and purely for belief that would be a huge boost.
It's strange talking about must win games when we've only lost 2 in 10, but the amount of draws isn't doing us any favours, so although points are welcome against the likes of Chelsea & West Ham, it's the 6 pointers playing those around us that will ultimately determine our fate.
