1991-92 Champions ...

Post by Clarets4me » Fri Dec 17, 2021 3:52 pm

Having had a 2nd hip replacement on 2nd December ( recovering nicely, thanks for asking ! ), I stumbled across the video for this season on " you-tube " this afternoon ...

Interesting to see the 20 year old Graham Alexander playing for Scunthorpe, and a furious red-haired Chesterfield central defender stomping away when " Super " Johnny Francis put us 2-0 up after 18 minutes at Saltergate on New Years Day, 1992 ... wonder what happened to him !! ;)

I like the look of surprise when the red card comes out.

Back in my Rugby days, It was a look mastered by front five forwards after being penalised for " over vigorous " rucking etc ... " What, me Ref ? "

Just reading the new " Blackburn Rovers v Burnley " book about all the derby matches and there's an interview with Kevin Ball ...

" I was taking the Sunderland Academy lads to an away game, when I heard gasps and laughter as they were viewing something on one of their lap-tops. I wandered to the back of the coach, and from their faces, I guessed what they were looking at ... they looked at me expectantly
" Yes lads, it was a shocker .... but before you get any ideas, I got a three match ban and fined two weeks wages for that, which is exactly what you'll get if you try that ! " ..... they suddenly went very quiet !! " 8-)
