Hope Burnley do the right thing and refund supporters

Post by PadihamThickNeck » Sat Dec 18, 2021 12:53 pm

Hope the club do what Watford did and refund fans, even thought it’s not Burnley’s fault it’s the least they can do before Christmas for fans who work hard to afford to travel to games.

There must be a way to refund those who haven’t gone by coach too ? Maybe if they have bought a ticket the club can work out how many miles to and from Villa Park it is from where they live and come to some agreement.

Do the right thing Mr Pace !

So you want the club to work out mileage and train cost for everyone that has gone to the game? OK.

I think some sort of compensation or show of goodwill may be worthwhile but this isn't Burnley fc fault. In either case this week.

The whole thing is such a shambles and needs sorting ASAP.

What a mess

They should at least put free coaches on for supporters who travelled for the rearranges games. People that live in other areas is a bit more complicated.

Thing is, Watford refunded because it was because of them it was called off.

If BFC receive any compensation from Villa or the PL, that should be passed on to those who travelled on supporters' coaches. I think reimbursing anyone else is out of the question.

The Monday Premier League meeting needs two rules being decided. If a team call off a game due to COVID they forfeit the game 3-0 and then that team is responsible for paying the travel/ticket costs of fans who were going to the game.

What about supporters who can produce evidence of a match ticket and train tickets? Not everyone travels from Burnley to away games and many people who follow Burnley away like to go by train anyway.

Nonsensical. Burnley themselves have been left seriously out of pocket by Watford and Aston Villa, it is them that should be paying reparations to ALL fans.

Burnley should refund nothing but the ticket cost.

Aston Villa, Watford, The FA, Boris Johnson, Some bloke eating a bat in China etc are the ones who should be refunding the hard earned lost travel costs.

Whole thing is a ******* farce.

I think the only thing they are obliged to do is refund match ticket costs not any travel or hotel costs...

Bill the Premier League ...

I haven't travelled for today's game....I think even the forever optimist knew their was a strong chance of this game getting cancelled at very short notice.

Though .....

if I was in the position the unfortunate find themselves in being a few hundred out of pocket having travelled down and staying over....I would 100% be seeking compensation via action against the Premier League

While the fans should be compensated, I don't see why it should be by Burnley FC.
We aren't the richest club in the land, and this scenario, unless I've misunderstood, isn't of our making. Either Villa or the Prem should be picking up the tab, and reimbursing BFC as well as the fans.

Maybe Wetherspoons in Walsall could donate from the extra profit they've made from all our coaches now spending more time and money there!

The club won’t refund anyone. £20 per person wasted on coach fare to go to stoke and back. The club will say it is villas fault and will say they can’t afford to pay us fans back and it isn’t their problem.
Pathetic. For a family of 4 £60 wasted on coach travel. Disgusting.

But it really isn't the club's fault . We can't keep blaming things that are not in their control. It is really poor and is wasted and plenty travelling and out of pocket.

You can't expect Burnley FC to be responsible ... contact the PL or Villa it is their fault ... The PL should have called a circuit breaker and cancelled all matches this week end ...

They aren't to blame. I assume ticket refunds will be given to those that want them. That's as far as their liability should go however unfortunate - or expensive - it has been for those who travelled.

Just back from Villa.

My 6 year old son and I set off early today, as i was worrying about the Covid checks and with it being his first away game he wanted to have a good look around the outside of the ground. We were outside the stadium when it was announced.

I can live with the wasted journey, the 200 and odd mile round trip, wasted cost of petrol, wasted cost of parking, etc, but not with the disappointment on his face when he heard. He's been talking about this game none stop for two weeks and was as excited as any kid would be for their first away game.

He hopes Villa get relegated.

Gutted for all Clarets today, especially all of you who travelled, the ones from Dublin, Ianmcl and you and your son deserve the red carpet for a game in the future......paid for by the premier league (premier thats a joke). Hope we stuff Villa whenever its replayed and your sons there to see it Chuckypad.

Burnley FC should be in the queue for compensation, not the ones dishing it out. Definitely no magic money tree at Burnley. Clearly, there needs to be a cut off for test results that allows a decision to be made in good time, but even then if injuries and other illness are part of the equation it is wide open to abuse which is what I suspect in both cancellations this week. We need to see the details (without naming players if that's an issue) to help us understand what the hell is going on..

Fully understand that when he's been looking forward to it so much. We, as adults, can understand games being called off at times for whatever reason, but for an excited 6 year old it is totally different.

If Watford did let the Premier League know by 1400 on the day, why did it take them so long to decide? They say Villa knew in the morning so, again, why did it take so long? It is the Premier League that should be dipping into their very deep white powder store. They had ample time to let supporters know either before or just after they had set off.

Just in case you didn't realise...... you can no longer just turn up on the day at away games and pay at the turnstiles. If you are going to the game by train then it's best to book early as prices tend to increase the nearer it gets to the travel date.

If you travel with one of the supporters clubs then you need to reserve your seat as early as you can because the coaches can fill up quickly. When you get on the coach you pay your money.

This is what Burnley fans do when they follow the team away from home, which many of them do and probably have done for years, before the pandemic and now at the present time during the pandemic.
Clarets fans who follow the team away and give excellent support to the players have been aknowleged on here recently by fans who, through whatever reason don't go to away games because they are unable or don't wish to do so

99 times out of 100 you can't just decide on the day to go to an away game.
Yes you are correct in that it is their choice whether to go or not but they don't expect to travel long distances only to be told a couple of hours before kick off that the game has been postponed.

Neither should they expect to be told on here it was their choice to go and should accept what happened without question.
For goodness sake, they are travelling to these places to give the players some support.

Even if they said the Huddersfield game is free for them, it'd be some sort of good will gesture that won't directly cost anything, and it's hardly like it's going to be full.

* IF fans are in stadiums by then

There would have been no chance under the lady lot, let's see if the new guys are any different

The Huddersfield gate (cup tie) is shared between the clubs and the FA. So if BFC decided to let people in for free, they would no doubt have to pay to Huddersfied and to the FA their share of the "lost" gate money.

BFC haven’t called anything off. They should be claiming money not paying it out to people. They’ve already incurred huge costs, wasted time and preparation.

I know we split the gate receipts, but I'm sure not everyone who attends pays.

Won't happen anyway then.

Obviously everyone will get a ticket refund, however they should receive a further £30.00, to cover travel expenses etc, funded by the EPL. Let's face it - we are talking about the richest league in the world. They should bring this policy in for all games that are called off at short notice.
