Great idea.
Would be a good idea to keep this post going for anyone to post on who's struggling.
There's one on the Everton fans forum (Grand Old Team)...its been running for ages. A great resource

Excellent from them. I don't know any of the lads but I did spot the name Darren Tahir who I think lost his dad Cliff about three months ago.#
I think keeping this thread going is brilliant as is linking with these lads.

Re: Mens mental health group
Excellent news. There's also an initiative in Colne which is actually open this week and next, at Open Door. I believe it's aimed at men's mental health too.

For anyone in Accrington, a friend of mine is employed at the Mount and I can confirm he is both extremely approachable and is a mad claret, so much so I can be an hour longer walking the dog if I bump into him. Anyone struggling in Accrington will be welcomed at the drop in throughout Christmas.

Just had a look to possibly retweet… if you can tell your friends nothing at all is displayed when searching for Burnley minds matter. That would make a good first contact option for many, just a thought.longside72 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 22, 2021 3:41 pmMens mental health group set up by 5 local lads

Re: Mens mental health group
Great idea & much needed by the sound of it.
I recently read about Pastor Mick & the work he's doing.
People waiting Months for a Counseling session when having a mental crisis is beyond belief.
Where is the Government involvement in all this?
Local activism like this is great but can only scratch the surface of the overall problem.
I live in Los Angeles and we have a huge Mental health/Homeless problem (they are related) people just laying around on the ground,
tents set up on pavements everywhere & there isn't a bridge anywhere without tons of homeless living under it, lucky ones have a car to sleep in......When did we become such a callous, unfeeling Society?
We're going to Hell in a hand-basket and fast!

Re: Mens mental health group
Amazing to see local guys reaching out and I know Daz and Jay from school both genuinely great guys. If some find it hard to have that face to face contact, especially while grieving, I can highly recommend https://www.cruse.org.uk/
Re: Mens mental health group
I agree with what their doing, and a lot of mental health issues in young men stems from drugs
It just hope this doesnt somehow contridict.

Maybe that’s the case, and I do agree, but they still need help though.
Most folk just need a support group to help them stay on the straight and narrow, I think it’s a great idea

Great idea.
Men used to go the pub a lot and chat to mates. That has declined in society.
Women have always gone around to their mates for a coffee and gossip.

This is a fantastic idea and there are a few of these groups up here in the Newcastle area...also Sky have a brilliant leadership in men's mental health amongst other initiatives for staff but quite often we just need people outside of that sphere......

Absolutely, Cocaine is everywhere these days and most young people take it regularly it’s that cheap and cut with all sorts. Causes severe depression and anxiety when they take it 2 or 3 times a week which a lot do.

Re: Mens mental health group
Cocaine is only the current drug of choice, teenagers have abused drugs since drugs were available; they go in and out of fashion. The problem with Cocaine is the cutting and the mass availability of a commodity that should it ever be legalised would make South America into a major world power.
However it is not the drug, but the conditions that lead to experimentation and ultimately dependency. These are societal issues that need addressing every bit as much as any dependency and if the informal approach can make people outside their world even for a few seconds it can make all the difference.

A good story and good publicity for the work done by Pastor Mick and the amazing team of volunteers.bfcjg wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 9:28 pmhttps://uk.news.yahoo.com/prince-willia ... 26940.html

It struck me that William and Kate saw the BBC report in December and requested the visit themselves rather than it being given to them like a Royal Assignment. I like how Deacon, the kid, was disappointed at first expecting a footballer turning up.

Re: Mens mental health group
Very glad to see that people are accepting just how damaging drug use is to mental health.
It's only one part of a multi-faceted problem but it's certainly a very big factor.

I agree.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 10:39 pmI think some of the prescription drugs can be as damaging as the recreational 1s.
People are beginning to realise that mass medicating people who have multiple life problems affecting their mental health isn't the golden bullet that the pharmacutical companies sold it as.

Meh... always a trendy cause to promote, especially with those fundraising and talking the "right talk" to Facebook.
Then when someone with mental health problems is smashing up the town... "GET EM LOCKED UP" "how dare they!" "NAME AND SHAME, YOU KNOW!!!" is the usual response, from these people!!
Always tickles me!

What an incredibly crass post.....have you no soul, or have you just not had someone you know and love affected, either way try to put yourself in someone else's shoes and think for a minutetarkys_ears wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 10:54 pmMeh... always a trendy cause to promote, especially with those fundraising and talking the "right talk" to Facebook.

Re: Mens mental health group
As someone who’s suffered badly with depression on and off through the years, what a worthy cause of which those lads can and should be proud. I always found that, along with regular exercise, the best cure for me was getting out there and chatting with my mates down the pub. In many ways, social media and forums like this can serve the same purpose, especially in recent times.
Great thread- keep talking chaps.
