Everton, Spurs, Villa, Watford
What's the odds that they'll all be near full strength when we eventually come to play them, and It'd be just our bad luck that Cornet is involved in the AFCON as well.
And it wouldn't surprise me if the Leeds game is also postponed, it's fine and dandy having all these games in hand, but if we have to fit them into a chaotic schedule through no fault of our own, we are being punished for other teams not being able or willing to field the players they have available on the scheduled date the games are due to be played.
I'll be paying close attention to how strong the XI'S these sides choose to put out in the FA Cup, after all isn't it all about the integrity of the competition.

Null and void the season across all leagues now. It’s an absolute **** show.

Let’s just hope we have enough when it comes to points per games to survive, because there ain’t gonna be any more football played.

I’m with you in this tiger.
My own opinion is that if it’s the Covid numbers that have taken the numbers too high to be able to play, then when the fixture is rearranged, they can only select players that were fit at the time of the postponement so that they CANT benefit from poor (or spurious) Covid management

I'm lucky I had no plans to attend, however it's the supporters who've already made travel plans I feel sympathy for, especially if they've forked out their hard earned dosh.conyoviejo wrote: ↑Fri Dec 24, 2021 11:34 amDon't worry be happy,it's Christmas have a few drinks and chill out.
Still at least they're being given 2 days notice this time, instead of 2 hours, so I guess that's an improvement of sorts.

One option would be to just crack on and let players with covid play, who are well enough

If the season doesn’t finish it won’t be relegation we need to worry about.

Don't take that tone. Debate with courtesy or not at all.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 24, 2021 2:43 pmAbsolute nonsense. The clubs have to finish the season or they don’t get the money.
How do you propose the season will be finished? Clubs clearly don't wish to play when they have infections within their squad, and we we've seen today that all clubs need to do is cite "more injuries" to get a game called off. It ain't going to happen unless clubs shape up, which they may well do when they realise it's their pockets that will take the hit.
Re: Everton, Spurs, Villa, Watford
I can see the season pushing into summer beyond it's normal scheduled end, at least I hope that's the end outcome rather, than as noted, they have teams, especially us, playing in a ridiculously tight schedule. I do believe we would probably be the worst hit now in regard to players and winning games we need, Cornet being out just makes it worse.

Just said the same Leeds will certainly be the next game we have called off.tiger76 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 24, 2021 11:32 amWhat's the odds that they'll all be near full strength when we eventually come to play them, and It'd be just our bad luck that Cornet is involved in the AFCON as well.

No tone intended, I just think it’s nonsense. The season will be finished one way or the other. Even if we play every two days it will still happen.ksrclaret wrote: ↑Fri Dec 24, 2021 2:49 pmDon't take that tone. Debate with courtesy or not at all.

What would happen to Burnley if they were told half way through the season that they were not receiving any money?
Re: Everton, Spurs, Villa, Watford
The same as would happen to all other clubs. We'll be up the creek without a paddle. Nothing we can do about it though as others have clearly decided they no longer wish to play with infections in the squad. When do we imagine that clubs will begin reporting no new infections for weeks at a time, enabling the season to be finished? The summer, perhaps?Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 24, 2021 2:52 pmNo tone intended, I just think it’s nonsense. The season will be finished one way or the other. There will be loads and loads of Premiership Games called off before and in the New Year.
Also games will be played behind closed doors in the New Year

Yep shame it's highly convenient for them due to their growing injury list, I'd have fancied us to get a result at Elland Road.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Fri Dec 24, 2021 2:50 pmJust said the same Leeds will certainly be the next game we have called off.

Re: Everton, Spurs, Villa, Watford
Zero chance the season will get voided. The financial hit to the clubs like ours would be disastrous.
And if we have a significant pause, would we have our soon to be out of contract players, refusing to play in order to stay healthy for their next club?

Re: Everton, Spurs, Villa, Watford
Why don’t we just quit the league? I mean that’s basically what posters said on the Jordan Henderson thread.

We'd booked the Premier Inn in Burnley but managed to rebook for a extra £45 for the game v Newcastle

Conte and others saying the managers meeting the other day was a farce, all the decisions had been taken by the PL before the managers got chance to discuss the way forward.

Re: Everton, Spurs, Villa, Watford
well the PL set an awful precedent today by allowing Everton to use injured players as an excuse to call the game off. Maybe if we have a poor weeks training everyone should develop a muscle strain so we can't play. Precedent set

Re: Everton, Spurs, Villa, Watford
I dont know why the league bothered to issue guidelines. It made them look tough but in reality they are as soft as the proverbial. Well played Everton-they applied with a supposed list of injuries/Covid positives, then waited until Christmas Eve when presumably the decision makers were already on leave, and they got their wish, with no accountability. All clubs will get wise, and it will now be a case of who can be the most creative in getting a game called off if they dont fancy it. Big own goal for the authorities
Re: Everton, Spurs, Villa, Watford
Some of them just want a Christmas /New year break.
