Lennon! Oh my God...hope his legs have good muscle memory. No worries, we can bring Stephens on for him in the 2nd half. That'll have them quaking in their boots.

My point further up. Cornet comes in for Lennon, Pope comes in. The other is simply whether Brownhill comes in.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 7:56 pmNo it isn't. I would say that nine of those would get in most people's best eleven.
Re: Man Utd v the Clarets - match thread
Eh? 2 of those points is that we have our strongest defence and midfield.
Re: Man Utd v the Clarets - match thread
What’s odds on Lennon crossing the half way line?Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 7:49 pmOn the plus side. Burnley to win and Lennon to score at 50-1
Could be worth a cheeky tenner
Re: Man Utd v the Clarets - match thread
Big performances needed from Cork and Westwood today. Can't help but feel United's formation leave them weak defensively. Good press on Matic and McTominay could see us reap rewards. 4-5-1 could be the change up needed. Feeling positive. COYC.

Re: Man Utd v the Clarets - match thread
What do you mean exactly? You said 2 of my points (selecting our best defence and midfield) were a reason why the starting 11 was so weak - didn't make any sense.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 8:00 pmExactly an already weak team, weakened considerably with two further players
If anything we needed to be at full strength with a strong bench. We now have neither

Or he thinks utd are in a bad place rightnow and it's best time to play them instead of towards the end of the season where we might already be down.jedi_master wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 7:51 pmIt’s not about the PL, nor a conspiracy theory.
It’s about clubs bending the rules to suit them when key players have gotten knocks, and is not doing.
You’re quite right - if I am correct in my assessment, I am as mad at Dyche as I am at Howe and Benitez, but for the opposite. The old adage ‘if you can’t beat them, join them’ has never been more true than right now. We are on an absolute precipice (potentially of financial ruin after relegation, we will see) and I would have hoped our manager would ‘play the game’ like our rivals are clearly willing to do.
Dyche is a stubborn guy, playing this game tonight for him is something I think he will see as a badge of honour (I.e, “See, my squad is tiny - but we were never asking for this off like some would” etc). Unfortunately, IF we get tubbed, that ‘honourable’ intention will look laughable.
Just my thoughts.
Utd were very poor at Newcastle. Any sort of performance like that tonight gives us a chance with only 2 of our strongest 11 missing.
Also he might think the lads need a game before a big one on Sunday...
They are my thoughts

SD saying Lennon to play the No 10 role. Imagine Vydra's confidence right now
Re: Man Utd v the Clarets - match thread
Don't forget, SD is pretty happy with this current group of squad players, which given that we're drawing on the services of a 'has been '; and a player in Stephens that never was; and then Thomas and Norris on the bench, I find that astonishing.

Re: Man Utd v the Clarets - match thread
I am highlighting that two players taken out of an already poor team makes this starting eleven incredibly weak.
However I think United are in such a bad spot mentally, we might be able to get something here

I am with Jedi on this one-we are seeing the stubborness of SD, probably making a point about squad weaknessalboclaret wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 8:02 pmOr he thinks utd are in a bad place rightnow and it's best time to play them instead of towards the end of the season where we might already be down.

Has Dyche said anything about Cornet? Was sure he would be at least on the bench
Re: Man Utd v the Clarets - match thread
If we are going to play with a no 10 the best player for that position is surely Dwight?

Norwich v Leicester on NYD just called off.
Re: Man Utd v the Clarets - match thread
I was expecting the same. He's had and recovered from Covid, but as he wasn't in the training photos you could probably put 2 and 2 together and suggest he's not trained enough to be risked.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 8:06 pmHas Dyche said anything about Cornet? Maybe Lennon there to try and keep it tight fir 70 mins then let Vyds loose on a tiring defence....wishful, foolhardy thinking, maybe.....?SalisburyClaret wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 8:06 pmGot to have a forward to bring on - there’s no one else

If he has even the slightest chance of Leeds I’m happy to see him not out there tonight to be honest.

What will be frustrating is if Cornet isn't even on the bench against Leeds but plays for the Ivory Coast without any problems.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 8:06 pmHas Dyche said anything about Cornet? Was sure he would be at least on the bench

Re: Man Utd v the Clarets - match thread
This is what winds me up about some of our players who go on international duty. Can see him not being available for the Leeds game (after a lengthy lay off), then he gets on the plane within 24 hours to fly to the ANC, and no doubt play every game for the Ivory Coast. It happened regularly with Brady, more recently for Roberts and to some degree JBGNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 8:06 pmHas Dyche said anything about Cornet? the youths on Twitter are amazed Wood is starting since he was on with Pieface at 4am this morning
Re: Man Utd v the Clarets - match thread
I agree with that one. The best we can hope for is he makes the bench vs Leeds, as he ain't going to start a game with so little recent match time.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 8:10 pmI am just surprised we have held him back the extra days if that’s the case

Re: Man Utd v the Clarets - match thread
Yes, he said that he is closer to returning but he’s still getting used to the premier league and he’s been unlucky by getting knocks. Needs time and to be managed carefully- or something along those lines.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 8:06 pmHas Dyche said anything about Cornet? Sorry, I just don’t get the logic behind Lennon starting ahead of Vydra. Vydra must be ill or have a knock
