Ben Mee
Firstly, this isn’t an emotionally charged/angry post based on this first half - it’s just something that isn’t really being mentioned due to all the Tarkowski talk.
What’s going on with Ben Mee’s contract?
He’s our captain, he’s been here a decade+ and I never thought he’d leave frankly. He’s out of contract in a few months and can agree a pre-contract elsewhere in a matter of days. Is Ben Mee wanting to leave Burnley? Is he running his contract down to get a plum deal at a wealthier club? Is he waiting to see what division we are in?
I think we all know where we stand with Tarky, but this is the other lynchpin of our team that (as it stands) is leaving the building.

Re: Ben Mee
There is not much to talk about. If I were him I'd be waiting till the summer. If we are championship then he will want prem for a couple more yrs.

Re: Ben Mee
Not his luckiest ground is OT. Another OG and playing Ronaldo onside for the third.
He’ll stay if we pay him enough.

Re: Ben Mee
U wouldn't sign a contract with burnley at the minute if its got a relegation/wage cut in it would you?
Re: Ben Mee
To be honest I think we want a complete clear out.

Re: Ben Mee
Mee is probably looking at his options.
Re: Ben Mee
Most reasonable and realistic fans know that to be the case. This squad is way beyond its sell by date. Old and stale. It’s been coming down the track for a long time though.
The championship might be a better place to rebuild anyway as long as we target younger players and give them a chance.

Ours fans embarrass themselves after a beer
Re: Ben Mee
He’s easily still good enough to turn out for a Premier League side, which it’s looking increasingly unlikely that we’ll be next term.

Re: Ben Mee
At his age, he needs to think about the future of his family.
If someone offers him a three-year contract on good money, he'll be away.

Re: Ben Mee
I'll bet there isn't a queue.
As much as 'we' like him, he wouldn't get a game and/or be on the bench at every club in this division.

Some are crying out for such defensive qualities!Bin Ont Turf wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 10:36 pmHe's been here nearly 10 years, I'm not underestimating anything.
His (footballing) ability is not what other Premier League teams are looking for.

Re: Ben Mee
None play like us, so no they're not.
A different manager or style of play to stay in this division, is what they're crying out for.

Re: Ben Mee
Shame he’s doing this to us really. As our captain you’d hope he’d lead by example and sign a deal.
I think he might be off with Tarks on the face of it, so hope we’re looking at a young replacement in January.

Re: Ben Mee
If we go down he will be fine as he won't get caught out too much there with his lack of premier league pace.
We need better centre halves in the prem now along with a few more positions.
He's give his all, fair play.
