We offer bluster without quality and conceded weak goals. The story of our season so far.

McNeil 6 great on the ball / awful off it
Lennon 8 did what was asked
Wood 5 - confidence blown
Stephens 6 - gave his all
Vydra - you can’t improve match sharpness feeding on 10 minute cameos here and there.
Dyche - set them up well tonight just that sloppy defence costing us dear.

Re: Manchester United v Burnley - Player Ratings
Hennessey- 8 - think he was faultless for the 3 goals and made 2 or 3 excellent saves.
Lowton - 6 - a couple of excellent deliveries in our early play, and generally pretty tidy - but over committed a few times, most obviously early in the move that led to their second.
Taylor - 7 - steady defensively and got forward ok.
Tarkowski- 7 - not at his absolute best at the back, and will be disappointed not to have scored, but solid enough.
Mee - 8 - very unlucky with the OG but otherwise very good.
Cork - 5 - tidy enough but hes just not quite as quick to the punch these days and United exploted it.
Westwood- 6 - got on the ball and generally used it well.enough without quite penetrating. Like McNeil a bit slow to react for the second goal, and might be a toyah disappointed by his attempted block for the first.
McNeil - 7 - has to react quicker and with more purpose to track Sancho for their second, but he did work hard generally, and his use of the ball was excellent, with his long passing in the first half spectacularly good - even if the right side doesnt seem to suit him.
JBG - 5 - lively first 15 minutes but pretty quiet, if diligent, thereafter.
Lennon- 8- took his goal well and ratted well, and caused some concern to United with his direct running. I'd still have preferred to see him and McNeil the other way round though.
Wood- 6 - a decent focal point but he didnt make the most of the couple of presentable chances he had.
Stephens- 7- looks a touch stocky, but he added more snap and purpose to our midfield play.
Vydra - 5 - busy but as usual lacked composure when the moments came.
Once again it's an OK performance which promised more than it delivered. We knocked the ball around nicely at times but turned over possession in bad areas, and/or were caught too high up the pitch, too often and looked vulnerable as result, whilst our midfield 2 were unable to screen the back 4 as well as they have on past visits to old Trafford. The decision to play Lennon off Wood was a surprising one but it worked in the sense that Lennon added real drive to our performance, but once again it felt as though the team overall would have benefited from McNeil's craft being more central, especially in the second half.
A huge trip to Leeds coming, and we have to hope the Covid outbreak is contained and cornet is available.

Lowton 6
Tarkowski 6 should have scored
Mee 6 should have scored
Taylor 6 not as good as recent performances
Gudmundsson 5 Hmmm messed up a few first half crosses
Cork 5
Westwood 6 a couple of trademark forward balls
McNeil 6 better on the wing
Lennon 8 added a bit of needed pace
Wood 5
Stephens 6
Vdyra should have scored
We need a couple of early January signings.

Re: Manchester United v Burnley - Player Ratings
Hennessey - 8 - made a string of excellent saves
Lowton - 6
Tarkowski - 7 - could have done more with a couple of the goals but also unlucky not to score a couple
Mee - 7 - as above
Taylor - 5 - didn't get forward anywhere near as much as usual and that hurt us
JBG - 5 - couple of decent balls in but left wanting more and that's a now regular theme.
Westwood - 6 - gallant mention for his late ball thru to Vydra which was top drawer
Cork - 6
McNeil - 6
Lennon - 8. Maybe he does have a role? What do I know? Thought he was excellent from start to finish. Well done Sir!
Wood -4 - there's been many times where he hasn't had any service. Not tonight. Plenty of deliveries in for him and he has to score first half. 3 goals this season. He won't be dropped but if there's a debate about this it's probably merited.
Glass half full for me. When I saw the teamsheet I thought we'd get battered but I thought the lads played really well. We created numerous chances (Wood, JBG, Pieters, both centre-halves) and that was most encouraging. Defensively we gave away soft goals particularly the 2nd one and that's disappointing.
Kudos to the Club as well for playing the fixture. There's several managers who should take note of this and the Premier League also. Start forcing these other teams to play with 7 on the bench if needs be.

Re: Manchester United v Burnley - Player Ratings
Hennessey 9 - the saves he pulled off were brilliant and his distribution was very good
Lowton 6 - not bad
Tarkowski 6 - again not bad
Mee 6 - as Lowton and Tarks
Taylor 6 - thought going forward he was weak but defensively ok
Gudmundsson 5 - offers nothing
Cork 5 - did Ok but the United midfield ran the show against him
Westwood 6 - thought he was better than Cork. Showed for the ball and played a few decent passes forward
McNeil 6 - looked better with the ball at his feet and in advanced positions
Lennon 8 - best he’s played for us
Wood 4 - forgot he was playing
Stephens 6 - I thought we looked better with him on the pitch.
All in all 2 mistakes have cost us against a decent team.

Getting difficult to defend our strikers right now. They’re paid to score goals and none of them look like they could hit a barn door at the moment…

Fair amount of 8’s and 9’s already. I must have watched a different game
Re: Manchester United v Burnley - Player Ratings
Hennessey 7
Lowton 5 a couple of poor passes back thst got us into bother
Tarkowski 7
Mee 6
Taylor 6
Gudmundsson 5 absolute bobbins, overhit crosses with bags if time, eased off the ball.
Cork 5
Westwood 6
McNeil 5 what was that cross first half? Also contributed to their 2nd ( no bonus points given here for simply being "one if our own" )
Lennon 8 MOM, always positive, ran at men, trued to play in Wood ( but he went too early obviously) really impressed. Id Start him for JBG Sunday
Wood 5 offside a few times looking right across the line, could have shot or layed it off when he got infront of Maguire, but came inside and lost it
Stephens 6.5 did ok, far more than Cork to be fair. Not sure if he can play in a 2, but looked to have forward passes that located their man in his locker, not just aimless punts into the channel
Sadly you cannot gift goals to any team in this league like we did today, they were all soft and avoidable.
At 3-0 I thought it was a case of how many but to be fair we got a goal, and kept it respectable without really causing them any real issues.
Massive game Sunday

As long as people keep voting like this we'll end up with the squad we have, led by the manager we have.

Hennessey 8 played well, not at fault for the goals
Lowton 6
Tarkowski 7
Mee 7
Taylor 6
McNeil 6
Westwood 4 didn`t really show much tonight I`m afraid
Cork 5
Guðmundsson 3 zero contribution
Lennon 8 not a fan but he had a hell of a game tonight and was causing the Utd defence problems with his pace but our wonderful manager saw fit to hook him for Vyds when maybe the him playing alongside Vyds with his pace might have been better option than leaving the totem pole on
Wood 4 If continually being offside was a positive then it would be an 8 missed a decent header, could have played the easy square ball for Lennon in space with an open goal but chose to blast into the defenders, his hold up play was abysmal, in fact a totem pole would have been a better option
Stephens 6 set off well but faded slightly

Re: Manchester United v Burnley - Player Ratings
Hennessey 8 - some good saves and did nothing wrong, no chance with the goals.
Lowton 6 - some excellent delivery but has to take some blame for the second.
Tarkowski 6 - better in the second half, should have done more with both of his headers late on.
Mee 7 - another who was better in the second half.
Taylor 5 - his attacking play was really, really poor today, his touch let him down on multiple occasions. OK defensively.
McNeil 6 - some nice switches but didn't provide enough of am outlet and his lack of tracking for the second goal was very costly indeed.
Cork 6 - worked hard but McTominay's athleticism was too much.
Westwood 7 - some nice passes but another who struggled with McTominays athleticism at times.
Gudmunson5 - wasted good position after goof position in the first half. His end product was terrible.
Wood 6 - his movement was good and he caused them problems but another who was extremely wasteful.
Lennon 8* - played well and took his goal nicely.
Stephens 6 - thought he did well.
All in all another reasonable performance but some.of our play in our defensive third and attacking third at key times left a lot to be desired. We weren't tight enough defensively and to say we didn't take advantage of some of the positions we got into qiuld be an understatement.

Re: Manchester United v Burnley - Player Ratings
Hennessey 8 - what a great back up keeper we now have
Lowton 5 - poor for Sancho’s goal I felt but wasn’t the only one
Tarkowski 6 - conceded 3 soft goals but he was probably the pick of the defence, switched off for the Ronaldo rebound though
Mee 5 - 5 own goals in the past 5 seasons
Taylor 5 - wasn’t at it offensively like we are used to
McNeil 7 - played his part in their second but for the large part it’s quite clear he’s our most talented player, some outstanding long range passing which makes me think Cornet, with his movement coming off the left, would be a huge threat
Westwood 6 - some good passing at times and think it was his excellent ball that found Vydra who should have done better
Cork 5 - liked him in recent weeks, not so much here
JBG 5 - needs taking out of the side now and replacing with Cornet v Leeds
Lennon 8* - delivered a solid performance full of running, yard of pace and took his goal well, deserves a start v Leeds
Wood 5 - again not quite at it, did some good things but also looks so clumsy at times
Stephens 7 - enjoyed his cameo, must have had a pass completion of near 100% including quite a few sharp forward passes, shame he’s been injured so often he would have done well for us
Well another result and performance that fits in well with the season so far. Plenty of good attacking play with a cutting edge, loose defending to give away sloppy goals at key moments and end up on the losing side. Big game at Leeds now.

Re: Manchester United v Burnley - Player Ratings
I can't say I was disappointed with the performance last night. We played a more expansive game and against lesser opposition we'd have got something from the game.
Hennessey 8* Did well after a nervy start.
Lowton 6 Patchy but jointly culpable for United's second goal.
Tarkowski 7 Solid as always.
Mee 7 Similar to Tarky. I'm not too sure about the positioning of the CD. At times there's too much space between them.
Taylor 5 I think he was on the periphery of the game.
Gudmundsson 5 I think JBG's got some quality in his locker but very rarely shows it IMO.
Cork 6 One of my favourite Clarets of the last decade but I feel he's coming to the end of his tenure with us.
Westwood 6 Industrious and dangerous from set pieces.
McNeil 5 Enigmatic.
Lennon 7 Surprised when he started but he had a good game and showed what we know he's been capable of given a bit of freedom.
Wood 6 Not very effective. Should have buried his early chance.
Stephens 6 If he's fit, he may be worth a stab in one of the CM positions.
