Positives from tonight
Hennessey- kept the score respectable
Lennon- excellent goal to cap a live wire performance
Stephens- got a run out after his lengthy absence.
We created loads of chances
And it's worth remembering we had several regulars missing this evening.

Who would have thought Those 3 getting their names chanted by the crowd (in the same match!!)
Re: Positives from tonight
Agreed Tiger. We were fluent, kept going, had chances and could have been a better result.
Re: Positives from tonight
Fully agree but up front we are useless. We either need to spend a lot of money due to our ageing squad or drop a division and start a fresh for 12 months as we have run out of ideas. We generally lack pace and commitment.

I was fearful at 3-0 that we could be in for a real thumping, lads scored and stood firm. Goal difference may be vital

Re: Positives from tonight
We may all joke about individual players like Stephens but the reality is we now have 22 good players with plenty of decent backup.
Martinez very confident on Amazon we will stay up, I’m nervous but can see that logic. Just got to tighten up at both ends.

The law of averages says if we keep showing the effort and get a bit of luck we should turn this round.......great to hear the support tonight, the players will really appreciate that....hope the Leeds game goes ahead

I know they will be full of the mighty Red Devils…but there were 2 teams playing tonight
…it’s 10:40pm and I’m still waiting for them to play our goal!

We created enough of chances to win ,we just need to score them, we can and will .

Re: Positives from tonight
Plenty of positives in the performance and attitude of the players tonight. All in a makeshift patchwork side.
Need to pick up points though. Games against our peer group getting more and more important.

Disagree-our finishing is woeful, and disappointed as I am,but I thought it was a good performance. Yes we lack quality in many areas but a number of our team, in particular Hennessy, Lowton, McNeil, Lennon, Mee and Tarkowski played well, against a phenomenal group of players

Come on lowbank it’s not that bad. Cut the mistakes out and we’ll be ok. We do need new faces in January. Midfield is vital

Re: Positives from tonight
Really, we were really really poor. Same as we were at Newcastle.
If you don’t realise we are heading for the championship, that’s your call, but it becoming more of a fact with each game.
Re: Positives from tonight
Our season is never defined by these type of games, any result away at OT would always be a bonus.
Can't help but think Dyche saw this as a match sharpness game in prep for Sunday which is far the more important.
Cornet back would be a big boost and take some pressure off Dwight who seems to be suffering.

Re: Positives from tonight
Why is low bank a bell end. We was crap no matter how much you love Burnley. We have been crap especially going forward this season. Too many players who have no pace and little ability. Lack of investment by previous owners has caught up with us.

Lennon and Cornet up front could be interesting
Re: Positives from tonight
We were poor, albeit as Dyche said post match, a few blocks and we make it a lot harder evening for them. Newcastle was more disappointing than this evening, albeit even there we'd have gained a point if Pope hadn't dropped it.Lowbankclaret wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 10:43 pmReally, we were really really poor. We are more than capable of getting a few wins on the bounce and the picture and feel completely changes.

Re: Positives from tonight
I’m coming away wondering how on earth we’ve lost that tonight. I know they scored three and us only one but the performance was far better than the result.
We can’t keep saying that though. We have to start winning games.

Re: Positives from tonight
Hennessy's saves and his kicking
Our pressing was good
We are learning from each game who NOT to offer new contracts too-not JBG,Cork, Stephens,JBG,Barnes,Rodriguez,Vydra
We generally defended well
We passed it around better than we normally do
We did not get hammered
McNeil at times looked as good as anyone on the pitch

Row Z I appreciate the sentiment, but our record of 2 wins in our last 26 suggests we are not capable of getting a few wins in the bounce.Row Z wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 10:45 pmWe were poor, albeit as Dyche said post match, a few blocks and we make it a lot harder evening for them. There were some positives especially second half but it is unlikely our form is going to change dramatically.

Re: Positives from tonight
Well we had that before tonight.
From tonight’s game I’m not sure what we can take.
I genuinely thought United, for all their talent, were poor. I’m not too bothered about the defeat as I expect it at the money clubs.
We were so soft at the back and toothless going forward. As we have all season.
Hopes seem to be landing on a new position being found for a 34 year old that’s been signed because he’s a decent lad.
Re: Positives from tonight
I seriously think we have been unlucky and we deserve to be a lot better off points wise.Newcastle we was crap the worst I’ve seen is this season. But I’ve seen no reason why we will not stay up in quite comfortable with our 3 home games in hand.Just don’t get you repeating the same thing really get behind the bloody team, and remember who we are.We will not go down get behind the lads.Lowbankclaret wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 10:43 pmReally, we were really really poor. With the exception of Cork who only made 15 passes we kept the ball well and passed it well, creating several dangerous moments that if Cornet were playing could have been interesting.
Just got to break that habit of not beating lower sides when dominant.

I thought we played well. It’s fine margins. Had Ben not got a touch and Hennessy tipped it around the post, it’d have been a very different result.

Re: Positives from tonight
but you were hammering Brentford when they had 6 of their first 11 missing?
How long are we gonna continue with these excuses? Why are we making up positives after losing a game inside 30 minutes?

Re: Positives from tonight
How many times can we keep on saying that though?
We're a club of ifs and buts at the moment.
Aren't we playing well, my god the referee, VAR, cheated, we were in the UEFA Cup once, fine margins, details, when Cornet comes back, fans were great.... if Wood, Vydra, Pieters had scored.
But what if they did?

Re: Positives from tonight
We start putting away some of our chances.
Four really, really good ones missed tonight, plus three or four half chances.
Is it me or, do we seem to be making more of them this season?
Either way, when things ain't going your way, it's those missed chances that are killing us, even with the uncharacteristic individual cock ups.

Cork is anonymous.Every time he gets the ball he passes it backwards, and he can’t keep up with the pace.He might run a lot, but he is nowhere near good enoughCrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 10:50 pmWith the exception of Cork who only made 15 passes we kept the ball well and passed it well, creating several dangerous moments that if Cornet were playing could have been interesting.

Lennon and surprisingly. A different position and well played him.
When we go 2 down even after 20 mins it’s usually game over. We just don’t look like winning matches. Need to recruit this window or we will probably drop.

It’s not like he is a young lad who might push on.

Re: Positives from tonight
Missing Pope, Brownhill, JayRod and Cornet left me thinking
we could well be in for a tonking but we started reasonably well
and could, possibly should have taken the lead when Wood sent
a header wide from a good cross by Lowton.
So a good start which sadly soon petered out.
Lennon's performance and goal was probably the most positive from tonight.
At least he ran at their defence when he got the opportunity. Good goal too.
Henessey was also a positive.
And I suppose the fact that we didn't get tonked by 4 or 5 or more when it looked
as if we would do when we went 3-0 down can also be seen as a positive.

Re: Positives from tonight
After we play Leeds on Sunday we will have only played 17 games. But maybe more importantly we will have only played 7 at home. But based on winning only 2 home games in the whole of 2021 it might be a bad thing
