Didn't he break the record of most number one singles in a calender year in 2021?
I think at one point he had 4-6 songs in the top 10.

I think he's great tbh, always comes across well on the radio, seems happy enough to help others and doesn't he sponsor Ipswich town FC?

He's in the news a lot down these parts for obvious reasons. Does seem like a genuinely good chap. He has done a lot to support his local community and doesn't shout about it. His home town of Framlingham is well worth a visit if ever in the area. BTW Woodley I think that he's more than just a sponsor, he is a squad member No.17!!

I wouldn't pay £90 to attend his gigs but I have watched him at Glastonbury, he has a good catalogue - certainly a hit maker!

You’d have to pay me £90 first & I’d get my own ears surgically extracted before listening to him, but saying that he’s the millionaire in life & I’m not so he must be doing something right & we all like different things in life such is the diversity of the planet we all live on.

Absolutely baffled at his success - just seems like every sixth form ‘poet’ with an acoustic guitar, but then again his stuff isn’t aimed at me.

Fair play to him though, him and Adele have managed to make a fortune out of releasing the same song over and over again.

From my limited knowledge he seems to have produced songs that range from slow guitar vocals to rapping. Like, leave or loath I'm unsure you can say it the same song over and over!

He has a wide range of music, like you say. I love his number 6 collaborations album which really shows off his talent. His track with Eminem and 50 Cent is particularly good IMO.

I can take or leave his music, but you have to admire a guy who can stand in front of thousands with just an acoustic guitar and entertain.

Fair play to him, he was never gonna get laid unless he became a huge star. And just a guitar and distort pedal you have to admire his balls. It’s music for millennials, safe, fuzzy ,bland undemanding and commercially huge . If the premier league was a musician it would be Sheeran.

A musician that writes and performs his own songs.
Very rarely if ever has backing singers and a band for support.

I have a very wide range of music I like to listen too, but I have to say a lot of his songs are catchy, and you find yourself tapping along to them.

You don't have multiple, music awards, number 1s, album sales and record earnings if you aren't very good.

Yes his music isn't for everyone, but it'd be like saying Ronaldo is a rubbish footballer saying he is a crap musician, performer and singer songwriter.

Oh and we got the kids tickets to see his latest tour for Christmas, they were over the moon, not sure who the support acts are though.
It was a very good show last time with Lewis Capaldi and the Darkness as support.

Never really took to Ed Sheeran before I saw him in Yesterday where he was charming and surprisingly funny.

Not the sort of music I'd buy or download, but harmless enough to listen to if it's plays on the radio, and he seems a very grounded bloke, who still wants to give back to his community, including Ipswich Town, nowt wrong with that.

He was asked on last nights show what he was hoping for in the New Year, “Ipswich Town promotion” was his answer, immediately followed by “but if you want something realistic…”. Really enjoyed his performances, and as mentioned above just look at the artists queuing up to collaborate with him. That’s a true measure of his ability.

I remember seeing this thread a while back and thought I'd add we went to his opening gig at the Etihad last night (he's doing 4 in a row) and I thought he was exceptional. And that's coming from someone who can take or leave his music.
Quite a show he put on and watching him set up his songs on his loop station is pretty cool. Undeniably a hugely talented musician.

I’m sure he can do it all on his own, but there’s a lot going on back stage at one of his concerts. I suspect much of the pedal and loop creation is for show, these days.

Trams especially around the city centre will be rammo this weekend. Sheeran, killers at OT, Alicia keys at the arena all on saturday night and it's Parklife on sat/sun.

Happy days, we got the kids tickets for Christmas , so are at the Etihad on Sunday.

We are parking at Ashton ( IKEA ) free parking and getting the tram in.

He usually puts on a cracker, so no doubt this will be too.

Went last night, it's not really my cup of tea. Was alright. We parked on official car park, left half way through last song. Was back in Colne for 11. Have to pre book car park though. Off to Emirates old trafford tomorrow for the killers which IS my cup of tea. Anyone any ideas where to park for this? I'm guessing near football stadium would be best?

That's exactly what we are doing, grabbing a bit of food from one of the chains around there, then tram it in.
They seem to be every 20 minutes or so, and I'm sure I read 200 free parking spaces, and I'm sure they'll be more withing a couple of minutes walk, that retail park is huge.

We parked in one of the multi storeys near The Lowry/BBC when we went to The Courteeners at Old Trafford in the summer. 15/20 minute walk over the bridge and past United down to the cricket ground. Got away quickly afterwards.

Just be mindful to park in the designated park and ride area. We initially parked behind Nandos but when I went back to the car I realised that area was subject to controls (not sure on the specifics though). The area for the park and ride is behind the cinema at the far end. Plenty of spaces available. Enjoy the gig. We loved it.

To stand in front of thousands with just a guitar and a loop pedal takes a LOT of guts, I’m not one to follow his music but as a working musician myself, you have to admire what he has achieved.

Thank you, I did exactly this and it was a very quick getaway albeit an expensive one but would do it again.

Parked on the free park and ride service at Ashton Moss, got the tram in and out, was home for exactly 23:10 although we left with 1 song to go, and we were extreamely lucky as the tram got there instantly as we arrive at the platform, so we literally were the definition of beat the traffic.

Will happily take that after I was hearing of people getting in at 1-2am

We had a great day and night, the kids loved it, although they are shattered this morning!

Is there parking at Ashton West? There’s definitely a free car park at Ashton Moss which is the next stop. We’ve always used that for our games at Man City.

There is indeed. It's just a big leisure park full of food outlets and a cinema. The P+R is around the back of the cinema with over 100 spaces.

Ashton West is the one we used for U23 games when we played them at Curzon Ashton
