Mr. Tarkowski
Mr. Tarkowski
How many times is he going to make unforced errors by thinking he's Beckenbauer. Today's cock up was so obvious and not for the first time. By waiting until the last second to try and pass out from the back he struts around like a peacock. You are a reasonable centre back Tarks but please get it out of your dumbo head that you are a ball playing, skillful and adept defender............you are not and performances like todays will not get you the ' big' move that you think you are destined for.

If there are any takers we need to sell him this month and focus on the development of Nathan Collins.

I’ve said this for years about our defence. They were very well protected by our midfield. Once the energy went from that midfield they are exposed and is showing the real talents. They’re not bad but not international quality

Re: Mr. Tarkowski
If Newcastle or West Ham want him they can have him.
I’ll drive him myself. If we mange to get anything for him that would be a bonus.
How people can try and defend players who clearly don’t care and aren’t putting in the effort I’ll never know. I would rather have a young lad playing who actually wants to be a footballer, wants the team to win, and wants to be here.

The very best can recover from the misplaced pass today, he’s really really slow and gets committed so easily 1v1.

Was it just me who spotted him spending a fair chunk of the first half arguing with Dyche?

At his best he's been brilliant for us.
Probably should have been sold in the summer and a replacement brought in then.

Nothing to do with lack of cover today and everything to do with poor effort and concentration gifting chances (except maybe the third at which point we were pushing forward for the equaliser)

I'd sell him this window and get Collins in, we already know 100% that Tarks is going and we aren't winning with him in the team and are conceding plenty. Look to the future

An excellent defender, but no Beckenbaur and definitely not big 6 material because other than doing what he's really good at (defending) he's very limited. Only he hasn't realised it yet.

Re: Mr. Tarkowski
You’ve missed my point. Seasons gone by the amount of exposure and the ball the defence have seen was very little. The midfield screened the defence very well and has very little 1v1 senecios. Now that isn’t happening. Also the defence are asked to play out more often. This will bring about more mistakes generally because they are not good enough to do that.BabylonClaret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 5:59 pmNothing to do with lack of cover today and everything to do with poor effort and concentration gifting chances (except maybe the third at which point we were pushing forward for the equaliser)

Hes been terrific but like us supporters looks like hes seen the light. That is no investment, no midfield to speak of, defence under permament pressure and usually in a relegation battle. So hes lost motivation and will go.

Tarks is a massive part of the problem, sell him and replace him.
With a defender fighting to stay up it might just happen.
He has become a liability.

I've noticed this before with him, if he gets an early yellow card it seems to really hinder his game. There were about 8 others today though who were far from blameless.
Re: Mr. Tarkowski
Why would he give 2 sh1ts?
He's doubling his salary and playing Premier league football next season regardless.

Apart from the thick end of £40m in 2018, which brought us :
Hart, nuff said
Gibson, Oops
Vydra, not a PL striker
Pieters,
Rodriguez, he's one of our own
Crouch.
There's the problem in a nutshell.
If you invest you expect something back.

First goal comes from a hopeful punt forward (Leeds hit that a lot). Tarks has it easily covered but tries a qui k ball out wide which he hits rather lazily and Harrison is through. Tarks struggles to shut him out, he gets the shot off which Hennessey does a decent job to save but Tarks is struggling to keep the rebound away.
Second goal we react slowly to a short corner but even though it's not played centrally very quickly we fail to cover Dallas by slowly moving out.
Our centre backs were both a yard off the pace today and whilst the midfield didn't play well Leeds weren't really passing through us that way. They hit a lot of long passes

Re: Mr. Tarkowski
I posted on another thread recently that according to the stats the only better CB in the PL is VVD.
He is an excellent defender but as the OP says he does tend to think he is Beckenbauer.
Stick to what you know, James.

Good point. There was some money spent, but then a couple of years of nothing. The problem lies that not only was there a lack of investment, but a lot of the most recent investment was absolutely ******* terrible. Gibson, fair enough he was supposed to be good and we got some back. Hart was a disgrace, Vydra was a mistake (obviously not dyche’s 1st choice) and jay rod has turned out to be a waste of money. For £10 million you can buy a decent player - maxwel was only £13!

Re: Mr. Tarkowski
Just watched the goal back. Worse than it looked to me live because I thought Harrison was closer to Tarks from the stands. Such an easy one to deal with, either by clearing it long or, preferably, cutting inside.
Thought he’d then done enough but on the replays he stood off him a lot and didn’t get the block in.
Also the man closing down Dallas’ shot but think it’s harsh to criticise for that.

I remember him once saying any centre back can receive a square pass, put on a foot on it then give it back....but it seems not.

Tossing it off imo.
He ain't staying with Wet Spam and Leicester being his preferences
I'd rather play Collins and bed him for the championship campaign

Re: Mr. Tarkowski
I would expect, no demand, that anybody on his salary gives a **** as the absolute bloody minimum. There lies the problem with the pile of crap that the PL has become.
Re: Mr. Tarkowski
Correct
The majority of players don't care for the badge on the shirt, more about the amount of zeros in their pay packet.
We were apparently a hard working team full of good characters.
"Minimum requirement is maximum effort" I believe the phrase was/is...
That clearly isn't the case of late

Re: Mr. Tarkowski
his agent will know what he's likely to get as a wage. My guess would be 80-100K maximum. Newcastle could offer him 140k a week (thus nullifying the signing on fee he would miss out on) plus whatever else they want to add and he would go.Lowbankclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 6:19 pmAnd probably why if we accepted a bid he would just not agree personal terms.

Still not convinced he’s phoning it it.
He’s always made these stupid mistakes, it’s not always he gets punished though.
He’s been brilliant for us, however If Dyche has a hint him giving less he needs to swap him out.

Re: Mr. Tarkowski
Definitely sell Tarks and McNeil in this window if we get anything resembling decent offers and get some players in that want to play for the shirt.
Mee also very poor today, Collins deserves to start next game for either of those two hard to choose between who to drop.

Re: Mr. Tarkowski
Time to give Collins a go at the back. Our setup has been allowed to become far too comfortable, most of our team know that they're going to play every week no matter what. Neither Mee or Tarks could have any complaints if they were dropped.

Tarks is our best defender, without a doubt. He made a mistake yesterday, but he is normally so consistently good defensively (his passing aside).
I would prefer he stayed with us, but it's looking increasingly unlikely. He has done a superb job for us over the years and will leave some big boots to fill.

Re: Mr. Tarkowski
Hart Given our injury situation on the day of purchase, probably a smart move
Gibson What was the backroom issue never talked about? He's developed into a decent player and it might've been for us had
we allowed him more opportunity
Vydra I'd agree, he's not a PL striker, but he does a brilliant job of flattering to deceive; it's taken me until this season to accept it, fortunately SD spotted his shortcomings earlier
Pieters I think with our small/thin squad, Pieters has been a bargain; perhaps never a 'star' but covered our arses all over the field.
Rodriguez 'He's one of our own' which is why I suspect he was bought - to pander to the fans - and he's shown why you should run a
business with your head, not your heart. BFC would never have paid that sort of fee and salary for anyone other than Jay-Rod
and unlike Peters, he's not offered much bang for our buck.
Crouch Desperation and/or a desire to offload Sam Vokes - which it seems we did at the right moment - he stole a wage, but not for
very long and as far as I'm aware no fee.
