Get Behind The Squad
Just a mention about the support that we need to have...
Yes, I know it's high and mighty to mention it after recent performances. But collective booing, chanting about relegation with Leeds and **** like that will not help.
Dyche picks the squad, he tries what he can, with the drawbacks and positives that he has. He's been brilliant for this club for nearly a decade.
Yes the investment hasn't been as fruitful for many a season. There is bare nothing we as fans can do to improve that.
The core principle that we have to do is support the squad, the management and the club! The fans can be the 12th man! I had a few comments walking back how good we can be at E.R. Trumping other fans, whether 0-0 or after scoring.
At United we committed for the full 90!
Dyche and the squad need us as an extra man. Dyche can provide the changes needed on the training pitch, in the prematch analysis etc.
No matter if we're drawing, losing or winning, we need to behind them for the full 90! Otherwise we're failing as much as the squad.
I for one will be behind them to the final kick. Not for one season, but for the all the seasons over the last God knows how many seasons. The ups, the downs, the yo-yo seasons, the European tour!
Even if it's Huddersfield, or Leicester, supporters bringing scarves, flags, their voices, their support. When the team is struggling, we need to be behind them more than ever to get them on their feet and back to grabbing points.
We've played with 15% possession with 1 shot on target, and been solid to take 3 points! With 2,500 fans aiding the win over the line. We've been beaten 5-0 at the eithad with 6500 thousand fans still chanting and banging the walls.
As ever, I'll be in the longside, shorts on, shirt on, colours on, scarf around my wrist. And I'll be behind the squad.
Bring your scarfs, flags and do the main thing we can. Support Burnley FC!
If you agree with me, or disagree, just know I'll read your comment, but I will not stop chanting my team on!

Who said anything about staying away? I might not be jumping up and down chanting and hollering but I will still be there watching them. Re: Get Behind The Squad
It's entirely possible to do both - support the team through thick and thin in person, but call out the dross on here. People come at it like it has to be one or the other, it doesn't.
Dyche has continually shown poor tactical judgment and a lack of willing to change it up, even taking into account the challenges of a small squad. Recruitment has been poor, Tarkowski thinks he is God when he isn't, Dwight is off form, some players legs have gone, there's no real fight etc etc. All of these are accurate. But I'll still support the team no matter what.

This is a forum for debate, opinions and venting your spleen, it's far better doing it on here then on the Turf. I never boo, jeer or leave early I occasionally wont clap at the end as my protest. I agree now is the time to be vocal and supportive, even if the players have fallen out with the manager and club it's vital that we show we are still there doing our bit to help.

Our away support has been brilliant this season, very supportive.
The Turf has been very quiet but there's a lot going on at the minute. It's been a while since 18k fans attended the turf.

Re: Get Behind The Squad
All I was saying is that, we need to be vocal to get the team as supported and feel as supported as possible.
The management, club and fans are as honest as you'd get in the EFL. However, we HAVE to do our part.
I'm fine if people either don't support the team, I'd just rather point out booing and chanting negative rubbish does absolutely nothing to improve the situation
The lads will be getting bigger bollockings of the gaffer and his staff

We've got alot of younger fans going on now, which is good for the future of our club, but they also don't realise where we've come from, we never want to go back to the bad old days so we need to get behind the team as much as we can.

If we get behind the squad will it stop our opponents doing it so easily?
Re: Get Behind The Squad
It won’t make it easier for the opposition, will it? You never know if we actually get behind the squad it may give them the boost and incentive that they are struggling to find at the present moment!CombatClaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 9:54 pmIf we get behind the squad will it stop our opponents doing it so easily?
Maybe it’s time for all of us to take a good look at ourselves and decide if we want to be fans or supporters

I've mentioned this numerous times but I'll mention it again - the last time there seemed to be a superb atmosphere at the Turf was the Cardiff game when everyone was given a free scarf. I'm amazed we haven't done it, it would be great to see it at the Leicester game

I applaud your positivity OP. I am right behind the team and will always be no matter what. I wouldn’t worry about the negative comments on this board. Take it with a pinch of salt. The majority of people who constantly use this board are sad old men with no lives who have nothing better to do than constantly moan and whinge about everything in life in general. You get used to it. What a miserable way it must be to live life like they do.

I suspect that the majority of fans who boo us off at half time, or jeer the manager and substitutions do not post on here. Whenever at a game I ask the fan next to me if they have ever posted on UP THE CLARETS.I dont recall anyone saying yes. With respect those boo boys are a lot sadder than posters stating their opinions on this message board

Yeah, it's been a bit overlooked due to the terrible performance on the pitch, but I thought our support at Leeds was great, back to how it used to be.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 3:24 pmOur away support has been brilliant this season, very supportive.

Re: Get Behind The Squad
It's great to see so many positive replies on this thread.
Supporters clubs and supporters could organise a match with unison support... Scarves, flags, anything! The more people we get on side, the better! Leicester maybe?
I'll even be investing in a new one (think I need a superstition based change)

Re: Get Behind The Squad
I’m sure the support at the next home league game will be massive at the start of the game. This is usually the case and it’s only when the opposition start to take a grip and Dyche fails to react that a nervousness takes over and the Cricketfield Stand go quiet.
Im not sure who we play at the Turf next but if it’s Leicester then they will be without some regulars and the perfect opposition to be playing. Especially with a new look team!
Yes Dyche , get behind the squad and let’s see the likes of Collins and Roberts on that field next up.

Could be that the fans are so loud that it spurs the squad to come out the traps like a hurricane. Seen it happen at Stamford Bridge and by HT we were 3-0 up by the 45 mark. Not to mention countless other games. We just need to stick with them, ups and downs!

Re: Get Behind The Squad
The team and the crowd were brilliant in the first half of our first home game v Brighton and with more luck we could have been 3-0 up at half time.
It’s what comes afterwards that worries me if the game starts to turn, like it did in that first home game
