Lennon 4
Rodriguez 4
Wood 3

We could do a lot worse than buying Sorba Thomas, a winger with pace, presence, and the ability to beat a man and cross a ball, something sadly lacking in our squad at the moment

Dangerous, the will and demand needs to be there first. Btw how old is he?

Bardsley 6
Tarks 5
Mee 5

Stephens 6 can actually pass a football
Westwood 5
Cork 4 slow and looked old
Brownhill 3 there’s hope for any footballer out there
Jay 6 good goal
Wood 3 completely ineffective
Lennon 6 I think he was the only player I thought gave everything today
We really should have a weekly ratings vote for posters on here for their weekly contribution to support and encouragement to the team, you my friend would be lucky to get any points...I find your witch hunt against Josh Brownhill absolutely disgusting

No - the ratings rules have been in place since we started them around 2005. No need to change them.
It is a bit odd though.

We're effectively giving marks out of 7.

Also ludicrous that somebody getting sent off in the first minute would have to be awarded a 3/10 by default.

It would be ludicrous which is why it couldn't happen

I don't follow Tony. Quite clearly a sending off in the first minute can happen. Have I misunderstood what you're trying to say?

Now then, let me think. Does the first minute come before the twentieth minute? And there's your answer.

???? I'm more confused than ever now

Ah well, needn't split hairs over something so trivial in any case.

Hope you're feeling better soon Tony.

Top line on every player rating thread reads: "Please leave ratings for all players who have played 20 mins or more."

Ah, just clicked. They have to play 20 minutes, right? In which case (playing Devils advocate) what if somebody gives the ball away 100% of the time, doesn't make a single challenge then gets sent off in the 20th?

No need to answer that. I know it's a 0/10 performance.

I think a player has to play 20 minutes to get a rating so in your example the player wouldn’t get a rating. Now someone who played 21 minutes and got sent off would score a 3 though ;)

I like the player ratings, and to be fair the 3/10 minimum probably does ensure the ratings are a bit more realistic. There's undoubtedly a very rare performance where a 3 is undeserved though.

Not sure that was today but we're getting close recently. Worrying indeed.

At least a minimum 3 score stops a certain poster giving Josh Brownhill a 1 every game

Lowton 5 -Not easy being a right footed left back..

Tarks 4 - Cheers Tarks, enjoy your move..

Mee 6

Bardsley 6 Slowing down but professional as ever

Brownhill 5 Not easy being a right footed left midfielder..

Westwood 5

Stephens 7

Lennon 6

Jayrod 7

Wood 5 - Couldn't get on the end of any of the endless long balls fired up to him..

I haven’t even given Brownhill the lowest rating. Take your claret tinted glasses and complain at them.

I’m sorry but he’s not a footballer. He’s an athlete. Gets a nose bleed anytime the ball goes near him. Made to look silly by midfielders from the league below today.

Pope 5 - Relatively untested
Barnsley 6 - Set a good standard for the rest of the team early with no nonsense approach
Tarks 4 - Can't allow for many more individual errors without being dropped
Mee 5 - Not a leader sadly. A good, solid old school defender but we need a Carlisle or Davis right now.
Lowton 5 - Square peg, round hole
Lennon 6 - Movement was good in 1st, passenger second
Stephens 6 - Passing good in 1st, bambi on ice as he tired
Westwood 5 - Assist was a hit and hope, set pieces are no longer effective
Brownhill 4 - Square peg, round hole
Wood 3 - May as well rested him
Rodriguez 6 - Some glimpses of movement and touch
Cork 3 - Pointless

Truth is we tried surviving 45 minutes, when we should have been testing and untested keeper. No ambition to play young players or excite the paying support. Another extremely forgettable cup tie. Should be free to attend going forwards.

A genius stroke playing Pope and Brownhill both not fully recovered from Covid and it showed
Jayrod was the only player I'd keep for next week .Hopefully all the missing players return along with Dodgson who looked promising in his short cameo role.

Should we also have a team and manager ratings ? I often find that my individual scores don’t always follow what I think of the team or managers performance.
I enjoy doing the ratings. It is great way to express your thoughts ( and frustrations ) and being able to mark the Manager ( which sometimes I do) and the team as a whole would improve the experience

That's a valid point, but you could equally apply that to any of our midfielders bar Westwood perhaps, and most of his assists are no doubt set plays.

Hence why we need at least one creative CM through the door in this window.

Brownhill had a decent goal ratio for Bristol City, so he clearly does have a goal in him, but he's not shown any sign of hitting the target for us in the PL.

Chris wood last 50 appearances in the league. 15 goals, 3 assists.

Brownhill last 50 appearances in the league. 1 assist.

Clearly not one less than Wood

How a Sunday national journo saw it writing for both papers
Mail on Sunday / Sunday Times

Pope. 5.
Lowton. 4
Tarkowski. 3
Mee 3
Bardsley. 3
Lennon. 5
Stephens. 4
Westwood. 4
Brownhill. 4
Rodriguez. 6
Wood. 5

Cork. 5
Dodgson. -

Embarrassing for a PL set up. Rare that 3's are awarded.
