I wouldn’t mind a spell in League 1
Back to back relegations wouldn’t be the end of the world.
We would be a massive team in that league and should be winning every week, it would feel good to the best team in a league instead of one of the worst. We would feel how Man City feel now.
Lots of new grounds to visit and better away days, no silly times of Kick offs, no re-arranged fixtures a few weeks before people have booked stuff.
Affordable football and every home game would be everyone’s cup final, lots of good away followings at the Turf.
Call me stupid call me what you want but getting pumped every week in the Premierleague is horrible.
Hopefully a new manager with fresh ideas and who doesn’t play hoofball. I’d much enjoy us playing some fast attacking entertaining football even if it is against Accrington & Morcambe.
We are only in the Premierleague to make up the numbers, it’s pointless we aren’t ever going to eclipse the 7th place finish. The bigger teams are getting bigger and the gap is getting bigger.

Think you might have a shock, look how Sunderland have struggled to get out of that league.

Re: I wouldn’t mind a spell in League 1
I’d hope that with some sense we might feel that way in the championship given we’ve spent the last 6 years in the premier league. I know we look **** at the moment, but the truth is that this is a complete overreaction to a few bad results as we’ve actually been quite good this season.

Anyone of who has been there, would not recommend revisiting such places.
It would be the end for BFC.

The club wouldn't be anything like it is today because we wouldn't have a pot to pee in. Winning every week? Love to know where the money for this invincible team is going to come from.

We are sleeping walking to League One, we're a dreadful side atm, with dreadful players, overpaid players, old players and players playing without any confidence. A recipe for disaster, Sunderland will tell you that.

Champs ok
Not league 1. League 1 is where you end your relationship with BFC

Can't believe melon head wants us to drop to league 1, it was only a couple of weeks ago he threw the towel in and said enough is enough. Unbelievable statement

Any support who went through the trauma of relegation down to Div 4 and watched us down there would never want to see that again.

Timmy must be insane wanting a spell in div1
Re: I wouldn’t mind a spell in League 1
I wouldn’t. Championship football is pretty good and entertaining but I think the standard drops off considerably at League 1 levels or professional football. I’d suggest the OP watches some grass roots stuff though. Watched my lad today win a tight game and he scored a cracker. Made me completely forget about our performance yesterday. No diving, no cheating, no moaning at the ref, smiles on faces and both teams on fairly level terms.

Aye! and look at the state both those clubs have been in, and indeed are still in.
And as you correctly state both are far bigger than Burnley, or at least have the potential to be so.
And that's not even taking into account how we finance the debt, and other day to day outgoings.
Blimey! when we last dropped to the 3rd/4th tier it took over 15-20 years to finally the steady the ship, and there was plenty of up's and down's in that period of the club's history.

I just don't agree with the view that the Premier League is the be all and end all.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 09, 2022 7:48 pmAye! and look at the state both those clubs have been in, and indeed are still in.

Re: I wouldn’t mind a spell in League 1
No I understand that, but sadly in the modern game it's vital to stay at the top table, and especially when you've just taken on the debt which Burnley have.
The problem we and many other clubs have found is once you've enjoyed a couple of good seasons at the PL table, you discover you've hit the glass ceiling, we finished 7th and briefly embraced the European stage, but now what, we're never going to match that, let alone better it, so you find it's a cycle of fighting relegation, and eventually your luck runs out.
We aren't the first to experience this, and we certainly won't be the last, it's purely down to the vast amount of wealth the top clubs possess, and you can only defy gravity for so long alas.
So then we drop to the Championship and it starts all over again, I can see where the OP is coming from that we're simply making up the numbers in the PL, but that's true of roughly half the league.
The big 6 will never get relegated unless something goes seriously awry, Everton, Leicester, Villa, West Ham or Wolves aren't likely to drop anytime soon, and if Newcastle do survive they could well join the PL elite soon, so that leaves 8 battling to avoid the drop in all reality. sometimes teams overachieve, as we did a few years ago, and Brighton are doing this season, but it's unlikely to be sustained for a long period.
This is what frustrates me with our attitude to cups, at least other clubs who've gone down the leagues have some silverware to show for their stints in the PL, Birmingham, Portsmouth, Swansea and Wigan have all lifted domestic cups in the last 10 years or so, whereas we treat them as a diversion at best.

So go down to a league where we can win more games, the prize of win more games tends to be promotion.
Where's the level where you'd be happy?

I think I'd go and watch Bacup Borough should that happen.

Re: I wouldn’t mind a spell in League 1
We saw it in the 80's, unless you can keep your support it will drop off, the club would cut it cloth to that division, skeleton staff, the ground, training ground would have no money spent on it, even maintenance budget would get cut, the best players will be gone, until you become that level of a club.

Re: I wouldn’t mind a spell in League 1
What a stupid post. Last time we were in the championship we didn’t even lose for 23 games. God knows how we could possibly lose a game in league 1. Imagine playing games every week without the possibility of a loss. Far too boring. You need all 3 possible outcomes to make for an exciting spectacle.

15th in the Championship is an over achievement for Burnley, like it or not that’s the reality.
League 1 would be an absolute disaster for a club our size.

If we end up in League 1, the most likely way out of it would be League 2.
Don't even go there.

We did that painful journey back in the 1980's, and look how long it took us to recover.
In response to the OP, be careful what you wish for.
