Utd v Villa
If Utd beat Villa tonight , would/could we play Villa on Saturday the 5th of Feb ? Certainly better than travelling there midweek .

Re: Utd v Villa
Villa have a game to rearrange against Leeds as well so I suspect it will be one of us should they not progress tonight.
Re: Utd v Villa
Wasn't it mentioned that clubs have little say and it's purely down to the Premier league?

Re: Utd v Villa
Given the amount of work that goes into setting up the fixture list, taking into consideration other games and police/emergency service availablity etc, I can't see the club's being allowed to dictate who they play and when for the rearranged games.

Heaton on Utd's bench, while Ings starts for Villa.

Good game this, very open and there should be more goals all being well for the neutrals.

Re: Utd v Villa
One of the few Utd players who can justify his wages this season. What we'd give for someone of his age and quality in our midfield.

I read something the other day where he was rated Lancashire’s best current player.

Re: Utd v Villa
United look so much better without Ronaldo.
They have the makings of a very good team just need to get it right.
They have the best goalkeeper in the league in De Gea, a world class defender in Varane, Dalot is starting to get up to standard, Greenwood is technically unbelievable, Fernandes on his day is a brilliant footballer, if they can get Rashford to his best and find a system that works they will be some force.

All Villa since the goal, and at the risk of jinxing it I doubt it'll finish 1-0.

Has rashford made a 5 yard pass yet without it being short or intercepted? Serious question.

1-0 Utd at HT, but that flatters them on the balance of play Villa deserve to be level at least.

Ings levels for Villa, poor defending by United.
Disallowed after a lengthy VAR check.

Once again this ridiculous wait for the var…

Clear and obvious………….
Eh!?
Eh!?
Re: Utd v Villa
Not a chance that is getting as much scrutiny if wasn’t United.
Re: Utd v Villa
You might as well give a penalty every time there’s a corner, players are always blocking opponents off. It’s pathetic Var, get rid of the bloody thing, it’s another addition killing the game.

Re: Utd v Villa
Been saying since the linesmen stopped giving offside a player would be hurt before they looked sensibly at it… that could have been very serious for Linderlorf (sp).
VAR will cause serious injury if they persist.

Nothing at all wrong with VAR,its the clowns who are running it who are at fault.

I’d really like a Villa goal right now.

Blatant disregard for numerous fouls by Shaw and the best home blowing by Oliver

Re: Utd v Villa
3 min 36 seconds they took to disallow that Danny Ings goal, crazy that it takes so long.
And the pundits are quite correct that VAR should be used in all the ties or not at all, it's a farce that it's only available when the matches are held on a PL ground.
United won but they weren't convincing again, and I'll be shocked if they come anywhere close to winning a trophy this season.

Re: Utd v Villa
Totally agreed-getting totally disillusioned with inconsistencies now in the game. Had Chris Wood been obstructed when Burnley were defending a goal, in similar circumstances, and the opposition scored (like Ings did), the goal would 100% have stoodWoodleyclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 10, 2022 9:53 pm1-0 to the referee

Re: Utd v Villa
The expectation for United to do well makes me think they are almost impossible to manage successfully. Just shows what a great manager Fergie was, This new German manager looks like he is about to be made to sit in the electric chair. He looks terrified. Can see United going from bad to worse. A good Utd would have scored more than 6 against us the other night

Another whiff of corruption?

Re: Utd v Villa
It was farcical. If something takes nearly 4 minutes to look at how can it be a clear and obvious error? As someone said above, they were scanning the box for reasons not to give the goal. The motor mouth commentator on the supposedly neutral BBC was so biased towards Utd as well. Joke.
