Lets hope that Dyche sanctioned this move and that Mr Pace hasn't gone behind his back otherwise we could be looking for another manager shortly!!!!
Activated release clause so both powerless.

Absolute blinder played by Pace.

Selling Dyches favourite player. Pace has just shown who is the boss whilst he has financed his transfer target and put some money in the coffers.

Dyche will be rocking in his chair at home with clenched fists.

The sad thing is so are you. Name me one player (other than Trippier and Ings ) who has gone on to better things/improve after Burnley?

Been there before in selling strikers in their ‘prime’ for mega money in their own way … Conroy, Andy Gray, Gareth Taylor, Akinbiyi, Blake, Austin, Vokes, Andre Gray (and I’m sure older posters can add some more)

The club moves on and generally does the better out of the two parties.

Liven up and keep the faith!
How many players have been sold to relegation rivals?

If this is true then all we can hope for is that
Vydra, Jayrod and Barnes (when he's back) can step up to the mark.
And that we can use the money to bring in someone who turns out
to be better than Wood alongside another midfielder.

Bit of a long shot one has to feel but you never know.

No doubt if he does go to Newcastle then knowing our luck
he'll score the winner against us when we play Newcastle on the
last day of the season. And that will relegate us.

Alternatively we'll beat Newcastle and stay up whilst they go down.
Now that would be something else.
Vydra needs far too many chances to score
Bringing Jay back is the biggest transfer market mistake we have perhaps ever made and Barnes wouldn’t net 15 in the Champ these days. Grim.

Hopefully Dyche is given all that amount to spend, shop wisely and in the right places could get 2/3 good young and hungry players for that. Throw in a couple of good quality loans for the rest of this season and I’d class that as good business personally.

Can't believe Pace put a release contract in Chris Wood's contract before he even became chairman.

Absolutely NOTHING, Cornet included, has made me change my mind.
If anyone thinks they're going to bring in 3,4 or 5 players in Jan to slot straight into the first XI, then dream on.
Am I right in assuming you think this is all Paces fault?

We're weeker without him, that for sure. Output of late has been low but that can be said for the whole team.
10, 10, 14, 12. Hard to find strikers for our budget with that kind of record of the potential for it.

I except we'll spend a little, say £8million on a replacement. The rest will disappear into the finance hole as we contemplate life without TV revenue.

Hopefully we replace him with somone who has some pace. Is Gray available? Seriously Mr Pace said we are trying to recruit this window. This was before this sale was mooted I think, so now we have more funds to buy?

Gets rid of a wage, makes profit, gets rid of striker having a huff cos he can't even put a shot on target or score open goals

As for Newcastle... Everything they've done so far is wrong. I love it

Even if he doesn't play a single game for Newcastle £20M is chicken feed if it secures one of the 3 relegation places (Burnley). It will disrupt the Burnley camp, Then if Tarks leaves the moral in the dressing room will hit rock bottom. How many more will be after escaping the sinking ship hoping to secure premier league football next season or another lucrative contract.

Guess having to accept a low ball release clause was one of the compromises from our side for insisting on relegation wage reductions.
£20m is nothing for a player you sign for £15.
No ambition in that.

Even if we couldn’t get the value to increase - how about inserting a clause that it couldn’t be activated by a team in the bottom 3 in the Jan window.
Would have shown abit of imagination and considered thinking…

There was. But there was an awful lot of Burnley lads there with full tanks eager to drop him off….

Not me, I have been a fan, but NOT this season. A shadow of his usual self this season.

As long as we reinvest properly, (and we have a few weeks to get it sorted so I won’t be whinging come tomorrow) then I’m ok with it.

If he had been playing like the Wood we know he can be, I’d say it’s our loss and their gain. As it is, going off his performances so far this season, we haven’t been weakened significantly, and our relegation rival hasn’t been strengthened significantly.

The release clause was only in play from the summer, pace as done this and he's just religated us. We haven't got any striker to score 5 goals never mind enough to keep us up.

If your going to sell, sell early in the window. Give you time to replace.

Welcome back to the old days of selling our best striker in the January window.

Blake, Gray, Ade to name a few.

Could be worse, could be going on a free like Tarkowski. Get shot of Tarks and mood in the camp will improve - mark my words, he’s the disruptive influence this season.

Wood going though - Meh… not fussed even if we don’t sign a replacement as it will mean a forced change to the team which is long overdue

Surprised as didn't know what to read into the "news" about his clause.

We MUST have someone lined up.

I like Chris but he hasn't looked great this season (not exactly alone there). TBH £20m for a player of his age who may well be past his best is not bad going (I'm dreading him proving me wrong if Tripps gets his crosses in). Not good selling him to them but then which other PL team would have paid that for him?

If that's true, surely he could have pushed Newcastle for £30 million at least. Surprised at only £20 million, even with his poor form this season.
Only £5 million more than what we spent.

Not to mention Newcastle, I'm sure they are not too tight with what they are willing to throw around at the moment.
