They don't need to speak to Wood, they can speak to his agent

I’ve recently been in a position like this and there’s always ways around it
Re: Chris Wood having medical at Newcastle
Is this a slow asset stripping exercise or a bona-fide rebuild, with manager approval?
I suppose we will see!

He’s not out of contract in the summer.minnieclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 8:24 pmIllegally unless they had asked our permission. Even at this stage I think he can only talk to foreign clubs as an OOC in Summer. They must have asked. £25m is a lot of money for a guy that will be bench warming in 8 weeks until Wilson gets hurt again.
From what I can gather, the two clubs have agreed the deal, Wood has agreed personal terms with Newcastle and today he’s been having his medical which these days take several hours.
It’s reported that the deal is expected to be confirmed tomorrow ahead of the deadline for him to be available this Saturday.

the other side of this transfer, the rest of our lads could be thinking "Woody reckons we are down and has jumped ship" - it could fire them up

I, unlike others, do not wish him well. I don’t think he’s acted with any decency at all over this. Eddie Howe is a little **** as well. He must still have a house in Bournemouth. The next time that I see him, I shall give him a piece of my mind.

I so hope your right.....also got to think of the main bunch of players there now, they will know that whatever they do come the end of the season they will be moved on in the main and divides will form hopefully...none of them followed Trips when he tried to get them to applaud the fans at the end of the game the other day....and Eddie Howe trying to manage a toxic dressing room wouldn't give me much confidence in the short term

If it takes that to fire up the lads, then what we've been told for the best part of 10 years has been utter nonsense.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 10:22 pmthe other side of this transfer, the rest of our lads could be thinking "Woody reckons we are down and has jumped ship" - it could fire them up

Re: Chris Wood having medical at Newcastle
Interesting comments by Martin Hardy in Wednesday's Times.
Anybody on here heard that Newcastle were looking to sign Chris Wood in November 2019?
"Newcastle have twice previously come close to signing Wood: when he was at Leeds in 2017 and in November 2019, on the recommendation of Steve Nickson, Newcastle’s long-term head of recruitment. On each occasion the manager at the time, first Rafa Benítez and then Steve Bruce, turned down the option of signing the forward.
Nickson has been given increased prominence in the January transfer window by board members Amanda Staveley and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi. Newcastle, who have already signed Kieran Trippier for £12 million, still want to sign at least one central defender and a defensive midfielder this month."

Put Sean Dyche in Wood's hotel room tonight. Wood wont ever be able to a ball again.

It's in the Mail that Tripps and Wood have the same agent, and he made Howe aware that Wood would be interested in the move when they bought Tripps. That's how it usually works.

A defensive midfielder you say? I hope Dale Stephens’ £25m release clause doesn’t become public knowledge!Paul Waine wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 12:15 amNewcastle, who have already signed Kieran Trippier for £12 million, still want to sign at least one central defender and a defensive midfielder this month."[/i]

Double your wage and finish your career with a £15-20m contract, I’m not suprised he was interested!claretandy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 6:03 amIt's in the Mail that Tripps and Wood have the same agent, and he made Howe aware that Wood would be interested in the move when they bought Tripps. Re: Chris Wood having medical at Newcastle
I don’t think anyone would think the situation ideal, but given that we were odds on to be relegated even with Wood, this gives us (a) the opportunity to try something different which might get us out of the mire (b) to really get going on the massive rebuilding job we need to do early enough to give us a better chance of a quick return should we be relegated. The other thing on the bright side is that Newcastle’s signings so far in the window don’t suggest that it is going to be plain sailing for them to pull clear of trouble.

Re: Chris Wood having medical at Newcastle
And, the club has already updated the 1st team squad details on the website. That's impressive efficiency.
Thanks for your time as a claret, Chris Wood. Good luck with your games with New Zealand.

Re: Chris Wood having medical at Newcastle
As long as he is a better PL striker than Dwight Gayle, he's an improvement on what we've got. Reports that we're not done recruiting yet as well. So we may have Wilson, Wood and another striker for the tail end of the season, which should help our push to survive.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 3:28 pmHe is an average PL striker but he's an average PL striker having a very poor season.
The likelihood is that new surroundings, a fresh challenge etc will see an improvement in his form (I really hope not) but if he continues the season as it has gone so far, you're going to be very disappointed.
Any idea what you lot are going to spend the money on?

Ooof. That bad? I know nothing about the goings on with your owners. What's the top line?

Re: Chris Wood having medical at Newcastle
Hi TheFish, some Burnley fans are a little uncertain about Burnley's new owners. They've bought the club without having a personal listing in Fortune's Billionaire 500, or something. One or two have even said that they hadn't seen them on Turf Moor before last season and didn't grow up as Burnley fans.
It's a tough gig owning a football club, I guess.
