after a few months of various procedures and lots of support from family and friends Joey 13 is back , fighting fit and booked my ticket for Millwall

Guess what… after my issues last year I’ve finally been seen today to have a 24 hour ECG monitor stuck on… only taken a year…!

Thing is, my flutters stopped almost as soon as they came on and I quickly forgot all about them. That said, now diagnosed with hypertension recently (which has been since I was ill last July with an unmentionable virus) so I’m actually quite happy to have whatever tests they throw at me.

I eventually had an ablation before Christmas which has worked so far , just now need to shift some weight due to inactivity and get fitter

I noticed I was getting a bit of chest pain last year in the mornings while walking* the dog. I ignored it for a couple of weeks but the wife, who used to be a nurse noticed something was wrong and asked me about it. When I told her about the pain she gave me a right bollocking and was straight on the blower. After about 3 consecutive days of trying to get a GP appointment we finally got past the receptionist firewall and only then after going through all the symptoms with her.
Big dos and little dos I was finally referred for all sorts of echo cardio grams and angiograms and was and they found a 95% blockage in my LAD. The widowmaker apparently. Anyway a stent was fitted and I am now on a lifetime of beta blockers, blood thinners and statins.
Don’t ignore the symptoms

Mirrors my own problem in 2020, I had the same 95% with the LAD and a further problem to the rear of my heart.

I was fitted with 2 stents within a couple of hours of ringing 111 & 999.

I had been putting it off as a touch of cramp in my chest for quite a long time!

I had a heart attack 7 years ago. I returned to work a couple of years later, the office was in Canary Wharf. I spent most lunch times for the next 2 years, before retiring properly, enjoying walking around Millwall Dock - part of the Canary Wharf peninsula on the north side of the Thames. Those lunchtime walks were an important part in my recovery. I'm now playing walking football a couple of times a week.

I'll also be at The Den, south of the Thames, the other side of the river and west of Millwall Outer Dock.

I was playing 5-a-side when I felt unwell. A friend, a very good friend, drove me to A&E. Triaged straight away, told I'd had heart attack within 3 minutes of arriving. Angiogram showed RCA 100% blocked and LAD 70%. Blue lights and two stents in RCA. LAD being treated medically. Aspirin, atorvastatin and ramipril. (I had to stop beta blockers, made me fall over).

My brother has had same experience. My brother-in-law wasn't lucky, RIP.

Get yourself checked out.

I would advise anyone if you get a strange pain in your chest ( or even upper arms) get it checked out a.s.a.p. Will give peace of mind or, save your life.

Fortunately, a friend had had his own heart issues and he took me to A&E. When I was triaged I was asked how much pain I was experiencing. On a scale of 1 to 10, I scored it 2 at most. The doctor said that the low pain was in itself an indication of a heart attack. I've since learnt that 13% of all heart attacks are "silent" - the person suffering heart attack does not know it's happening.

Work sent me to hospital where they did an ecg, which was not normal.

Anyway all the tests they can do today can really find out what’s wrong.

I apparently had left brundal branch block since birth.

They did ultrasound looking for dead tissue, found none.

Did static and running ecg’s.

Like everyone has said, if you have chest pain or as the consultant told me , more like bad indigestion, get it checked out.

That was 14 years ago. I have been on every drug there is.

Been to cardiologists and they tried everything.

It’s now settled at 160/90 odd. No amount of drugs gets it lower.

Well apart from after 3 glasses of wine, just did it now. 143/76. Just wish it was low in the morning.

Problem is you cannot drink all day long.

Need the same effect in an NHS pill.

Got the all clear today after my final heart test ,it’s been a long road but hopefully that’s the end of it and I can now take in some matches (if I can get tickets )

Great news, what a relief it must be for you.

This Monday I cut the hedge. It was quite an effort as it was the first cut this year and is a big hedge and I was using one of those telescopic trimmers. It was heavy. Finished the job and went in the shower and had trouble washing my hair as I was aching across my chest and arms. I presumed that it was just muscle tiredness or strain, but it was accompanied by a shortness of breath and a bit later nausea set in.

I wasn’t going to do anything about it but my wife wanted me to call 111. I did that and they put me through to 999 where I spoke to the ambulance guys. They told me that I needed an ambulance straight away but it could be 5 hours so get someone to take you to A&E now. Got there and my wife parked a 10 minute walk away as she doesn’t like multi storey car parks - one of which was opposite A&E. obviously after the life insuranceAfter the usual tests I was told it was Atrial Fibrillation rather than a heart attack but that can lead to a stroke or heart attack so I’m glad I didn’t ignore it.

I did a 1 hour brisk walk yesterday with the dog so all seems well for now

So back in August got the all clear , follow up scan end of December revealed I have heart failure, now waiting to a see specialist , just didn’t expect this after being given the all clear , anyone else got this ? , I’ve read about it on Dr Google and frankly it doesn’t make for very good reading

My brother in law had a minor stroke a little while ago

They now think he’s got this Atrial Flutter
His blood pressure is high and his heart rate is all over the place
He’s just gone back into hospital to be monitored

He was meant to be flying to Canada next week, but I can’t see that happening

Flutter isn’t supposed to be as bad as fibrillation, they might do a cardio version on him , blood pressure can be reduced easily with meds , listen to me I’m like an expert now , he may still be able to fly but check his insurance.

They are concerned he may get fibrillation and are planning on having him wear a heart monitor
