Chris Wood
This could age badly in the second half but searching his name on twitter is fantastic
Newcastle fans have clearly taken well to him.

Re: Chris Wood
I do so wish you hadn't posted that until the end of the game, if he scores 2nd half you'll be entirely to blame.Milltown1882 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 3:54 pmThis could age badly in the second half but searching his name on twitter is fantastic

Well then he’s definitely outside his comfort zone, so should be delighted, after all that’s why he left. Apparently.

Some absolute pelters on twitter about Wood
He looked awful to me today (exactly how he’s been playing for us).

Re: Chris Wood
5 Live half time report said 'you wouldn't know he was on the pitch apart from a disallowed, well offside goal'
Re: Chris Wood
Of course Chris Wood is garbage if he doesn't score. He's a terrible footballer at this level but does know where the goal is if he's found a bit of form.
Re: Chris Wood
Spot on. If Wood isn't scoring fairly regularly he's going to be heavily criticised because he doesn't offer much else at all really.

I’d rather have him on the pitch and getting 3 points for my team, than laughing on message forums and sitting bottom of the league…..

No, I’m enjoying getting £25m from a relegation rival and giving them our out-of-form striker.

£25m better off... whatever happens to it.
Let that sink it.
£25m... for Wood.
People thought we won the lottery when we sold that Kyle whatever idiot or Gray,

Re: Chris Wood
He’s done ok so far. Played both games. 3 points. Gives Newcastle a different dimension. Still Getting used to a different team and formation. Always liked him. Good luck. Just needs that goal which I’m sure will come. If he score 5 goals this year it will be enough to keep them up

Re: Chris Wood
They got 3 points in spite of him today. He’s contributed nothing in either game. May come good but still looking miles off it at the moment. £25m is daylight robbery.pushpinpussy wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 5:45 pmHe’s done ok so far. Played both games. 3 points. Re: Chris Wood
I watched the game today and viewed Wood through different eyes and with a differet outlook.
He was still shockingly poor, he couldn't control his bowels - as others have said in the past, he can
trap it further than I can kick it.
Well shut and thanks for the dosh.

I don't think Wood and his bank account will give acsh1t what we and the Geordies think.

Re: Chris Wood
Depends on his aspirations. If he’s happy to sit on the bench like Hendrick (who sometimes doesn’t even make the bench) and collect his money, you’re right. Because that’s exactly where he’ll be when Wilson is back/they buy another striker.

The fee reported by his agent ( CAA Base ) was £27m. They are also the agent for A Barnes & A Lennon amongst many others.

Re: Chris Wood
I'd rather have the money and no CW... our current position wouldn't have changed had he still been here and neither would Newcastles.
If someone put on the transfer links thread that we were putting a £25m bid in for CW, people on here would be in meltdown based off what we have seen this season. No wonder their forum is going mental.

I’d seen 27 million also on his agents site.

Lots of Newcastle fans saying he had a decent game and won 15 aerial challenges bringing a new dimension to their play. A lot saying he’s rubbish too but 4 points from 2 games, he’s transformed their fortunes

Can’t find it on the agents site anywhere but just seen it on transfermarkt. Interestingly, that site lists his value at £5.4m after a supposed £27m move Probably there or thereabouts correct though.

I think Trippier has turned their fortunes around not Chris Wood.
Re: Chris Wood
And as they are looking for a centre half, what about Kevin Long?
Surely £20 million?

Agree. Some crazy comments on this site. I’m logging on less and less because of them. Accusations to the previous owners, attacks of our players and Sean. Wood has a lean season this year but overall a great signing.
Not sure what is really going on with the management and buying of players. Let’s see what tomorrow’s match brings.

Re: Chris Wood
Some absolutely ridiculous comments about Wood, even when he was playing for us, with one poster constantly calling him a donkey. 49 Premier League goals for us. I know he's had a lean spell but I wish he was in our line up tomorrow.LoveCurryPies wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 11:04 pmAgree. Some crazy comments on this site. Re: Chris Wood
I don't recall a bad miss at all at Leeds but I do recall Meslier making an excellent save to deny him on the volley and then firing just over with a first time shot from around the edge of the box. Neither were early in the game either. One was at 0-0 but the other at 0-1.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 11:12 pmI'm thinking of early opportunities (Leeds a great example) where an early miss could have changed the game.
I'll admit he's not been playing quite as well this season but he's not the only player. McNeil (0 goal, 0 assists), midfield without a single goal between them and Pope has been responsible for a number of goals this season which has not been the case in previous seasons.
Quite honestly, I think the vitriol aimed at Wood is downright pathetic.
