Defence outstanding so all deserve a better mark but after a great all round team performance the rest are all not far behind COYC

Pope 9 - outstanding save from Smith Rowe and solid with everything else
Roberts 9* - tough to give a man of the match here but on his PL debut I thought he was excellent - defensive positioning, energy and used the ball well enough. We will see more of his attacking threat in other matches.
Tarkowski 9 - committed, won everything in the air along with
Mee 9 - he must have won 40 headers
Pieters 8 - stepped in as always and dealt well generally with a tricky opponent in Saka, doesn't offer as much going forward as Taylor though
Lennon 7 - worked tirelessly
Brownhill 9 - we really benefitted from his return and extra energy in the middle
Westwood 8 - thought he was going to get sent off but kept his discipline in the second half and there was more intensity to his play today
McNeil 9 - back to near his best, kept the ball well, driving runs late on and worked hard to help Pieters with Saka
Rodriguez 8 - been down with an illness and probably wouldn't have played if there were other options, considering that he worked very hard and linked play nicely at times
Vydra 8 - we press so much better with him up there, to say he's got a hernia and just had covid - fair play

My marks are high but they are based on the fact most of them have just been out with Covid, lost our main striker, without our top scorer, both strikers having either a knock or illness, lots of negative media stuff on the finances, sunk to the bottom of the table, have played about 1 game in 5 years and of course away to a very strong top 4 opponent.

Great to see some nice passing on the deck at times too and not just trying to launch it to Wood.

Tarkowski and Mee were brilliant. Felt like a back to basics type performance, which was much needed, with those two at the heart of it complemented by the rest.

That’s the Burnley under Dyche ive been desperate to see of late. Character, graft, commitment and a horrible side winding opponents and their fan base up.

Pope 8 - one very good save, otherwise very solid.
Roberts 8 - has a great engine, not sure us quite got the delivery if Lowton but hoping his dynamism will give us something different.
Tarkowski 8 - really good performance, protected excellently through the centre by the midfielders. Exposed a couple of times when Roberts was maybe very slightly out of position.
Mee 9* - his positioning was fantastic and he won so much on the air. Excellent perforce.
Pieters 8 - struggled at times in the first half against Saka but then really got on top in the battle, Saka clearly ran out of ideas in the end.
Lennon 7 - worked hard throughout. Perhaps slightly rash at times in his pressing but did give us an edge.
Brownhill 8 - worked tremendously hard and some brilliant interceptions. Use of the ball wasn't always fantastic but was a big part in our defensive solidity.
Westwood 8 - another whos use of the ball wasn't always amazing but the amount of covering he did was a huge part in us keeping a clean sheet.
McNeil 8 - some great drives particularly in the last 10 minutes. Thought he should have clipped the first breakaway to the back post but it was a great save seemingly. Hopefully more to come this second half of the season.
Vydra 8 - his pressing was excellent and despite not being the biggest won more than his fair share in the air.
Rodriguez 7 - another who showed an excellent work rate and was neat and tidy when he could get into the game.

Gudmundson - why did he shoot rather than give it to Lennon? Looked lively, though.

That was a performance full of grit and determination. The togetherness of the team was in full evidence today and the discipline and understanding they showed was fantastic. If we are going g to stay up this resilience will need to be on show, plus that little bit more composure at times both in the final third and to kill the oppositions momentum once they start getting up a head of steam. Hopefully couple of signings in the next week or so will help with this. Lots to be positive about today though, particularly after the break and a couple.of tough games prior.

Pope 8 - one world class save.
Roberts 8 - really impressive first full start. Martinelli barely had a sniff. Would have been 9, but for a shaky five or ten minutes at the start of the second half where he looked to be tiring, but recovered superbly.
Pieters 8 - never lets us down. Tough assignment against Saka especially given his lack of football and thought he handled it well.
Mee 9 - that’s the Ben we all know and love. Threw himself in front of everything. Captain fantastic!
Tarkowski 9* - thought he’d thrown the towel in. This was confirmation that he’s very much still in the fight. Imperious.
Lennon 7 - worked tirelessly throughout.
McNeil 8 - looked a threat. Some dangerous runs and a few decent shots. Decision making could have been better in a few key moments.
Westwood 7 - worked hard. Did well to affect the game after the early booking. Passing a bit wayward.
Brownhill 7 - again, did well to stay effective despite the early booking. Full of energy.
Vydra 7 - ran his socks off. Incredible effort given he was playing with a hernia! Never really had a chance to work Ramsdale.
Rodriguez 7 - another who gave absolutely everything.

It’s that crappy ‘vote for your player of the match at any time’ feature they have which is not fit for purpose on many levels. I saw one game (not one of ours) that had a player of the match that had only been on three or four minutes

Pieters 8 had lead in his boots for the first half, grew into the game and was very very good 2nd half
Tarkowski 8 very good game, barely put a foot wrong apart from getting badly outpaced out wide 2 or 3 times.
Mee 9 didn't put a foot wrong all afternoon
Roberts 8 very good, I don't think Martinelli beat him 1 on 1 once. Some vital headers won
Lennon 7 didn't offer much going forward but ran around tackling all game
Westwood 5 thought he kept giving the ball away needlessly and putting us back under pressure, late on he was doing kick ups on the edge of our own and hoofed it instead of turning and passing to Mcneil for a counter attack.
Brownhill 7 grew into the game, defensively he works hard, finds himself out of position chasing the ball alot and needs to improve going forward.
Mcneil 8 One man attacking threat in the 2nd half, end product was pretty bad aside from the deflected cross in the first half which nearly caught out the GK.
Rodriguez 6 worked hard without any real quality
Vydra 7 ran himself into the ground while carrying an injury, played the entire game so extra point over Jrod

Roberts 8 - enjoyed his performance, he has a lot to give.
Tarkowski 8 - doubted him after Leeds; didn’t put a foot wrong.
Mee 9 - our captain. Won everything.
Pieters 8 - solid against a tricky opponent Saka. Always does a job.
Lennon 7 - works hard.
Brownhill 7 - did ok, might miss him during suspension.
Westwood 7 - sound
McNeil 9 - thought he had great energy, the time off has done him good. +1 because signs today that he could be the difference in the coming weeks which is exciting after what has come before this season.

Don’t feel either of the strikers have the edge required in this league and we need better - return of Cornet will help. But this game was more about the rest of the performances and they didn’t let us down. We live in hope.

Team performance definitely a 9 for me, a clear sum of the parts are better than the individuals, been awhile since I witnessed, "minimum requirement is maximum effort", it was back today and loved watching it.

A well earned point and a very resolute performance. But I think the ratings would have been a couple of marks lower per player had we conceded from one of Arsenal’s chances (granted we limited those to a large degree). Indeed, the general mood would be completely different.

We have put in a number of similar performances this season and we’re always good for a hard fought draw, but we desperately need to improve in the final third.
