Re: Bank of Dave.
Just watched it and both thoroughly enjoyed it.
I had a smile on my face all the way through.
As has been mentioned, a lot of artistic licence etc but did not spoil it for me.
Never seen the Turf look so good

Really wanted to watch this but it's not on here USA that is.
Re: Bank of Dave.
Martin P and Claptrappers … apologies if I misunderstood. Don’t mind admitting if I had the wrong end of the stick . Hope no offence caused.
Chobulous … I quote .. ‘ If you are going to contribute to this forum, please be kind enough to do it in English ‘.
As far as I was concerned my post was perfectly understandable . However, if u would like the 0-12 months version let me know and I will send Claret Tony a pm to see if he can rewrite my post in crayon for you. However be aware that I can’t guarantee.
Btw does Chobulous have a meaning ? It doesn’t appear to translate on google and I don’t have the time nor the will to check an English dictionary for you … but admittedly it is strange considering u must be a linguist with your comment.
Clovious … I count u out. However it really wasn’t a love in.
Take care guys. UTC. 3 points tomorrow hopefully .

Re: Bank of Dave.
So in the absence of the movie on USA Netflix I just found the original series on YouTube. Ten years old! So I’m now getting the backstory for when the movie is accessible

Re: Bank of Dave.
That's a mistake NRC, two completely different things.
Better to watch the good feel film and then the truth in the series.

Re: Bank of Dave.
I watched it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Loosely based on David Fishwick's fight for a local bank it was great entertainment.
The guy (DF) has been marvellous for the area and the publicity this film will bring to the town priceless.
I described it as 30% documentary 30% biopic and 40% fantasy but 100% Burnley.

Re: Bank of Dave.
I watched it over the weekend with family. I don't know why but I thought the first 10 mins were a bit cringy, but after that I really enjoyed it. It's not going to win many awards but has a great cast and makes you smile.

You must have been making a brew. He even had a speaking part. (not much though)
Re: Bank of Dave.
I was able to watch, via my book club. Really nice, feel good movie and Dave managed to get the best out of Burnley for it. Well done him. So many mentions. He is a credit to town and team.

Me too. But I made it to Blondie in 1977 great view from the top of the Bee Hole End.Guitargeorge wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 9:38 pmKicking myself for missing the Def Leppard concert at the Turf. I thoroughly enjoyed the last two, Bob Lord bringing the Stones to our town, and Frank Teasdale bringing the double header of Alice Cooper and Petula Clark in the 80’s.

Re: Bank of Dave.
Watched it and loved it,heard nothing but positive opinions on it from my new neighbours up here in Northumberland, who lnow I'm a Burnley fan. Have had to answer a lot of questions about which bits are/aren't true.
Only thing I didn't understand was using the Duck and Drake in Leeds. It was my local as a student there in the 80s. Surely they could've used a traditional Burnley pub,eg The Angel.

Re: Bank of Dave.
I was thinking which pubs they could have used locally, with a big open area and a high ceiling that gives the best shots of the crowded pub. Hard to think of one that would fit the bill. The Palazzo would work but it's probably too posh to be Burnley!AmbleClaret wrote: ↑Tue Feb 14, 2023 3:56 pmOnly thing I didn't understand was using the Duck and Drake in Leeds. It was my local as a student there in the 80s. Re: Bank of Dave.
There is a "sequel" being planned.
Well not a sequel at all tbh. The production company have funding for another film based around fantasy football.
The same production company that did the outside production are involved and a lot of it is potentially going to be filmed in & around the rossendale valley.
