Plenty of Russians heading for Isreal - conspiracy theorists will be all over the Russia- Isreal - America connection, in truth this is wholly in keeping with Russian evacuations in World War Two. Isreal has always opened its boarders to all Jews (famously Robert Maxwell) as a matter of principle, whatever the rest of the world thought.RingoMcCartney wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 1:13 pmDon't know if it's been mentioned previously, but according to a few sources on Talkradio, one of them has written a book about the Chelsea CEO, called , "The Billionaire from Nowhere," Abramovich, having Israeli citizenship, is now hunkered down there too. Re: Russia Invades
Glimmer of hope according to Sky.
Positive shifts': Putin offers hope on Ukraine talks ahead of Lukashenko meeting in Moscow
Russian president Vladimir Putin and Belarussian president Alexander Lukashenko appeared to shrug off the economic sanctions placed on them by Western nations earlier, as they began their meeting in Moscow.
Mr Lukashenko, who is one of Mr Putin's few remaining allies, said "people will have forgotten this has happened" in a few months, and that there is an "opportunity" to build something "better than the Soviet Union".
Meanwhile, Mr Putin claimed that in the past sanctions had only made Russia stronger.
But perhaps most notably, the Russian leader added that there had been "certain positive shifts" in the talks with Ukraine, and that those negotiations were continuing on a daily basis.
His remarks come despite nothing coming of yesterday's meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian foreign ministers.
But combined with statements earlier on a possible meeting between the Russian president and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy (see 11.12 post), there may be tentative hopes among some that this represents a change of tone from Mr Putin.

Re: Russia Invades
The above sounds to be nothing more than the usual ‘double message’ technique employed regularly by Russia. They create several avenues to the same story and wheel whichever message which seems appropriate.
I really wouldn’t read much into Putin Lukashenko love ins. This message will later be used to claim Russia is trying to sort out a peace but that the Ukrainians and the West want to destroy Russia, so the war continues. Nothing really to see here, I suspect - nice that the Murdock corporation seem to doing everything in their power to destabilise the Wests message though, how surprising (not) .

Lancaster - Has the author of that thread added anything since this morning, when it was reported that the Convoy is dispersing? When he said it wouldn't be combat effective for some time, did he say how long?Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Sun Mar 06, 2022 9:22 amThey don't have to
That equipment is useless sitting there
It might as well be destroyed
That link further up the thread explains it all
As the author says, its not going to be combat effective now for some time, and I bet the Ukrainians are targeting the rear of the convoy (the only bit that can move) so it can't move
Wheeled transport can't operate off road in Russia in March. It is completely bizarre that the actual Russian army has forgotten that.
Edit - I'm sure it wasn't as easy as the Ukrainian forces just destroying the stuck convoy, but now that it is moving one would hope the equipment is still useless

Re: Russia Invades
Er, I'll check
He said that the convoy would have to be refuelled and the batteries recharged from the back of the coloumn, and they would have to work their way down it (which would take some time). I think the convoy was reported on Day 2 of the war, and its now Day 15? (16?)
There will be some total write offs in that group, and there will be some that need more maintenance, so it's going to be a much needed reinforcement for the Russians
Now I think about it, that ambush yesterday of a completely oblivious Russian Tank Rgt might well be linked to that. If they have spent the entire war out of fuel in that jam, then they wouldn't be expecting just how good the Ukrainians are at targeting concentrations of equipment
But I think the original estimate was that Kyi'v would have fallen by now, so his tweet would have been based on that
End of the day, the only info we are getting is from the Ukrainian side, as the Russian channels continue to completely ignore anything negative, so the chances of us seeing Russian tanks and APCs being refuelled and recharged out of that jam are effectively zero

US and ‘Seven’ G7 Nations and the EU countries start process of stripping Russia of its ‘most favoured nation’ status as a result of the Ukraine attack - this would mean Russia would be no longer qualify for immunity from prosecution, privileges and concessions. Perhaps most importantly it would remove Russia’s ability to buy at lowest WTO guaranteed prices - massively feeding Russian inflation.

Unless the Russian communications are so poor that they are having to use very easily trackable devices and that its getting picked up by the various intelligence agencies who are supporting Ukraine

Re: Russia Invades
Another here appreciating the thread taking heart from the positive news , but struggling with not being able to do anything to help these brave people , it really feels like a massive turning point in history , it’s never been clearer what I stand for and what I loathe and I hope most of us feel more united than we have a for a long time, I hope we can give them as much help as possible, humanitarian, financial and yes militarily, we’ve sleepwalked into Putins land grabs and eroding our democracy through his cronies all being complicit it must stop here !

Re: Russia Invades
- part of why I’m on here so often at the moment - this stuff needs recording for tomorrows historians as well as keeping us up to date with the best sources available. I may not be able to fight for Ukraine but WE CAN make sure the truth of it is circulating at least in our little part of the world.Sottpark1 ! wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 3:41 pmAnother here appreciating the thread taking heart from the positive news , but struggling with not being able to do anything to help these brave people , it really feels like a massive turning point in history , it’s never been clearer what I stand for and what I loathe and I hope most of us feel more united than we have a for a long time, I hope we can give them as much help as possible, humanitarian, financial and yes militarily, we’ve sleepwalked into Putins land grabs and eroding our democracy through his cronies all being complicit it must stop here !
