Let's face it, our squad has needed substantial reinforcements for a few years but we've managed to survive season after season.

That can't be right, I bet the wages figures used are from when they were in the Championship.

If we are talking about newly promoted teams we benefited from parachute payments twice.
We did very well with the money, EH put a half decent squad together and SD improved it.

In their last championship season they had the 2nd highest wage bill at £78 million, I'd imagine it's grown since then but not a massive amount.
They probably are quite low down in the PL compared to everyone else

Already mentioned above. You're being very short sighted looking at only this season. They should be doing better with the money they've spent although they do have some injuries.
