Re: Bielsa
The replacement doesn’t scream ‘guaranteed success’ to me. Massive gamble!
Transfer window has been and gone anyway, they’re still stuck with the laughably inept Koch, Llorente, Ayling etc in defence.

I presume he's up for "coach of the year" again?

No transfer window to work with, s**t or bust to stay up. I’d rather be in our shoes right now.

Re: Bielsa
They have to bin him to stand any chance of getting out of this free fall. It isn't a guarantee though.

Re: Bielsa
The style Leeds play under Bielsa, I think they’d really, REALLY struggle under anyone else.

Dyche to leeds
Re: Bielsa
If Marsch gets the job he also plays quite attacking pressing football, his RB Leipzig side this year were conceding quite a few so he got the chop after some poor results.

My Leeds supporting mates seem to think Bielsa is on his way....

Re: Bielsa
At present Bielsa looks a lost cause on the touchline, and his body language is not inspirational to the team. Such a shame we have already played them twice

When is Kalvin Phillips back? Their record with and without him is crazy.

Re: Bielsa
Rumours he might be back for the Villa game (10 March). he's missed their last 10 games, and during that period they've conceded 34 goals.NottsClaret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 8:05 pmWhen is Kalvin Phillips back? Their record with and without him is crazy.
His return will undoubtedly help, but how long will it take him to get up to match fitness.
Re: Bielsa
Pretty sure Bielsa said this week that his return, along with Bamford, could be delayed. And while he’s a quality player you’d have to think he’d be seriously lacking in match sharpness.

Re: Bielsa
If he and Bamford are out longer term that'll be a big blow to Leeds.
For comparison imagine Burnley without Brownhill and Weghorst, we'd seriously miss both if they weren't available.
And any new manager would have the same issue with injuries that Bielsa has faced for the past few months, so changing the guy in the hot seat is no guarantee, especially this late in the season, when Leeds needs instant results, it may work for them, but it equally could backfire on them.

Bielsa would get them up again!

Talksport saying gone by mutual consent. Imagine it’ll be a late tomorrow announcement from Leeds themselves with a replacement announced 83 seconds later.

Re: Bielsa
Looks as though it’s just a matter of sorting out all the legal stuff with Jesse Marsch set to replace Bielsa.
Re: Bielsa
Marsch flopped at Leipzig and they potted him after a few months. He had been part of the Red Bull group for years too managing NY and Salzburg so they must have had some serious misgivings to remove him and let him go.
I’m amazed anyone is surprised this is happening, Bielsa never lasts more than a few years and his last team went and won the league after he left them in the relegation zone. Total false messiah.

Re: Bielsa
He's as bad defensively as Coyle was.
Re: Bielsa
Quite an interesting one. Has never been in the PL relegation places. Seemingly has only one play of playing - when it works it’s pretty impressive but these recent games have shown it going horribly wrong. Gets lauded for getting arguably the biggest club in the Champ up and staying up one season, yet Dyche has kept us up for 6 seasons, got into Europe with a 7th placed finish and top 10 on another but doesn’t receive anywhere close to the same level of plaudits. Oh and Bielsa spent almost £100m last season and £25m on Dan James this.

The thing that irritated me was his constant use of a translator every time he appeared in an interview.

Re: Bielsa
No Plan B, i couldn't believe he was using the same ethos and tactics when he had the kids playing when the team was stuck with injuries and Covid. He’ll never work in the Premier League again.

Re: Bielsa
Anyone who saw his amazing Athletic Bilbao side know that when he has the players and they all believe, they can be one hell of a side to watch
But you saw yesterday, certainly first half, that you can't play like that against someone as good as Harry Kane, and when you've been struggling for a while
You need 100% confidence in your abilities, and Leeds have been knocked so much in games recently that they just can't do it

Re: Bielsa
So what do they do now? Bring someone in to tighten them up after playing gung ho expansive football for the last 3/4 seasons?
Also on paper not too many "easy" games left for Leeds. Norwich at home plus Brentford and Watford away against the relegation pack.
However maybe mid-table teams with nothing to play for e.g. Leicester, Southampton, Palace, Villa Brighton etc. might be easier pickings ?
What do folk reckon?

Re: Bielsa
Bielsa is stubborn with his tactics but the problem is the squad - they have looked all at sea without Phillips and I’m not sure another manager is going to solve that problem because most are Championship standard, particularly defensively.
Re: Bielsa
Sounds like Jesse Marsch is similar.....ClaretLoup wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 11:17 amSo what do they do now? Bring someone in to tighten them up after playing gung ho expansive football for the last 3/4 seasons?
