Boxing tonight
Should be a good fight - fully expect Taylor to win with ease but hopefully will be entertaining.
On another note Boxxer have delivered an absolutely horrendous undercard again. How long till Sky ditch Boxing if it carries on like this?

I’ve just switched on but if this fight for the Irn Bru and Deep Fried Mars Bar Heavyweight title is anything to go by, the others must have been awful.Milltown1882 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 8:50 pmShould be a good fight - fully expect Taylor to win with ease but hopefully will be entertaining.

It’s livening up in the 6th but it’s two slow sluggers lacking anything in the way of speed, skill or boxing talent.

Catterall 4 rounds up so far here
Re: Boxing tonight
Tried too hard early on.
Catterall boxed very well.
Closer on the main cards, I suspect.

Obscene. Absolutely obscene.
Is there any sport that isn't corrupt to the very core.
Boxing lost tonite. The noble art is dead.
Disgusting.

Re: Boxing tonight
Well there is a turn up....not!
The commentary was very over the top throughout. I had Taylor level in several and winning some as well as losing some.
When level, they tend to award the champ.
English judges too!

Re: Boxing tonight
Nothing short of a crime that scandalous decision.
Re: Boxing tonight
Professional boxing is an absolute farce at times.
Re: Boxing tonight
Catteril was good but Taylor hit him hard too.
The TV was way out of sync. Carried away with the odd jab.
Taylor was the aggressive fighter throughout and that counts.

Re: Boxing tonight
How did you score the 10/8 round to Catterall?
The commentary was over the top yeah... I thought they were describing Roy Jones Jnr or Floyd Mayweather Jnr when they were saying how good Taylor is.
Re: Boxing tonight
10-8 Catteril. Not others though. Lots of messy rounds and challengers don't win those.
Re: Boxing tonight
Commentators and promoters getting very silly now.

Re: Boxing tonight
Pretty surprising that. I though it was just a question of how many points Catterall had won by, he landed c twice as many punches as his opponent I believe + a knockdown.
Where were the judges from?

England and Scotland. 2 English I think.

Re: Boxing tonight
Shocking decision, just look at the stats in terms of punches thrown, punches landed and % of success. Jack threw more and landed twice as many. He knocked him down. Not sure what fight the judges were watching.

Re: Boxing tonight
Well, i was watching as a neutral, fully aware of how good a boxer Taylor is, and expecting him to win.
What i saw was an `away` (not that it should matter) fighter CLEARLY winning the fight, only to be robbed by some outrageous judging.
This result simply HAS to be investigated. Something is clearly wrong here. One of them made it a 3 round win to Taylor. Having watched that fight, I can only surmise the judge opted for an easy night and filled his card in BEFORE the first bell.
This wasn't even close. With three rounds to go, Taylor needed a knockout.

Re: Boxing tonight
Catterall won more rounds, landed considerably more punches and scored a knockdown but Ian John Lewis had it 114-111 Taylor joke decision but nothing Catterall can do, I hope he doesn't take it too hard though because he's clearly some fighter with a great team and can still go on to have a stellar career.
Also, side note - how glorified personal trainer Boxercise Ben Davison ended up cornering world champions should be considered one of life's great mysteries, although I suspect it's likely because he's connected to MKT and the shady figures therein (probably explains the cards as well tbf).

Re: Boxing tonight
Absolute robbery. Good luck trying to sell PPV's after that
Re: Boxing tonight
Joke of a decision , Catterall was quicker , sharper had much more rhythm, threw more punches ,and more accurate punches , hurt Taylor a few times whilst never looking in danger himself and was just the all round better boxer , shamefull.

Re: Boxing tonight
1. Judges don’t listen to the commentary
2. When judges think rounds are level they (If acting in good faith) score it a draw
Either you are fishing for a bite or Jack Cat has had an affair with your Mrs.
Re: Boxing tonight
Two very English Judges.
Messy fight. Not a run away, as they were saying on TV. Taylor was hitting hard and hardly getting a mention on commentary. Every time Catteril landed, it was described as some wonder shot. Often just a touch.
Very close fight, as per the judges.

Re: Boxing tonight
Awful night for boxing.
Ian, what did you see?
Catterall landed 15 punches a round to Taylors 7.
Taylor had a bad cut, looking beaten up.
Taylor was the only knockdown of the fight.

Re: Boxing tonight
Taylor’s shots were mentioned. They were mentioned less than those of Catterill because there were far fewer of them.
The fight wasn’t even close to being a draw, Taylor was so obviously second best, for the majority of the fight.

Re: Boxing tonight
I'm no boxing expert, and I haven't seen the fight, but if it was even as suggested, surely the knockdown should be a key pointer for Catterall getting the nod.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 11:37 pmAwful night for boxing.

Lots of unhappy people in FB /twitter etc!
Re: Boxing tonight
Could cost catterall a few million quid that he might nit get a opportunity like that again, and if it’s a rematch I would fancy josh next time-but he was robbed the poor lad catterall. It happens too often it’s corrupt I seen Ricky Hattons son on the undercard a few month back he lost every round but judges give it him also so corrupt!

Re: Boxing tonight
All I am saying is that 3 British judges- 1 Scot and 2 English, made it narrowly a Taylor victory.
So a Scot and and English man saw it for Taylor and an English man just scored it for Catterall.
Had the ref not deducted a point from Taylor, for the after bell jab in the guts, then that judge would have had it even.
They can't all be that wrong, from where they sit....or can they?
