Absolutely, the Toshack/Keegan duo did for a hell of a lot of teams including us if I remember an Anfield game, 1974 I think, correctly.

Wasn't there a memorable goal scored for Wales following a link up between John Toshack and Brian Flynn where they passed the ball to each other 'several times (three perhaps,) before BF put it in the opposition goal ? Or am I getting JT mixed up with someone else ?

Over 2,000 people per week (averaged over the whole year) die of flu or pneumonia. More in winter, of course. It's very common - a lot of it is because it's very rare to see people die of old age according to their death certificate - they have to have a more proximate reason.

Pharmacist then told me a pneumonia vaccination was available to all over 65 year olds. I got mine immediately. One dose protects for ever. I recommend anyone who is eligible to get vaccinated to protect from pneumonia.

I got my pneumonia jab in 2003. I’d gone to the docs for my flu jab and was asked if I wanted the pneumonia jab at the same time.

My dad suffered with dementia for a good number of years but at the end he contracted pneumonia and that’s how he was the last time I saw him.

My Dad had cancer of the oesophagus but it was the pneumonia that finally caused his death as his body was too weak to fight it off.And the cause of death on his death certificate was pneumonia.

I echo the thoughts of Paul Waine that if you are eligible for a pneumonia vaccine then have it. For your own sake and also for the sake of your loved ones.

Very sad to hear that Toshack is so Ill, what a player he was. I remember day dreaming as a lad that Burnley would buy him from Cardiff. He was snapped up by Liverpool to be one of their greats.

I would also recommend that everyone gets a pneumonia jab, like many on here I was given it with a flu jab a few years back. They don’t call pneumonia ‘the old man’s fry’ for nothing.

The Toshack /Keegan partnership was always the one twin strikers benchmarked themselves on. It did create something hugely successful for other clubs possessing a big front man playing along a lively striker. Dont think anyone surpassed these two thought but we did see Heskey/ Owen, in our case Vokes/Ings that were successful too. We have had other good twin combos ie Lockhead/Irvine, Fletcher/Casper, Taylor/Blake where there was a real understanding between the pair and plenty of goals

I was nudged re an oft forgotten fact at The Bridge quiz last week. John Toshak and Swansea finished 6th in the top flight in 1982 as Liverpool were crowned Champions. An excellent achievement. An extremely good player was Toshak.

The ageing years catching up with me again. 73-74 we beat them at home on Boxing day 2-1 and it was the return at Anfield, as you quite rightly say in the Spring that they beat us 1-0 in the last minute. 74-75 we won 0-1 in Sep/Oct with Ian Brennan's goal and drew at home in March 75,1-1. Lost 2-0.at Anfield in 76 and got relegated. I must do better.
