Re: Ben Mee
He came out for the 2nd half and sat in the directors box- seemed to be moving ok.
I’d be fine with him missing this Saturday but we really need him for Brentford.

Re: Ben Mee
He’s been injured before tackling with the outside of his left foot. Certainly buckled his knee but impossible to know what damage was done.

Re: Ben Mee
On TV you could see two stud marks on the front of his leg, running from his knee down to his ankle.

Re: Ben Mee
Two unnecessary challenges from Daka probably caused the stud marks. Both happened after he'd suffered the original injury.2 Bee Holed wrote: ↑Wed Mar 02, 2022 9:37 amOn TV you could see two stud marks on the front of his leg, running from his knee down to his ankle.

Re: Ben Mee
Now the refs are letting things go more, the CFs are going to get revenge on people like Ben Mee who put themselves about a lot. He's been lucky to get away with a few bookings recently.

This is what happens when they use sanitary towels for shin pads. Their careers are based on their legs and no modern players seem bothered about protecting them.2 Bee Holed wrote: ↑Wed Mar 02, 2022 9:37 amOn TV you could see two stud marks on the front of his leg, running from his knee down to his ankle.

Can’t actually recall the foul. Was it a bad one or just an accident? Did VAR check?gawthorpe_view wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 10:53 amYou can see the stud marks clearly on this photograph.

With injuries like that, you’d think it might’ve been red card territory.

Re: Ben Mee
No foul for the injury but two poor challenges after that from Daka which will have caused the stud marks. On the basis that Kavanagh couldn't tell a throw in from a spot kick on Tuesday, nothing was ever going to be given.

Re: Ben Mee
Given Everton's indignance at this ref and getting an apology from Mike Riley (I think), would it be appropriate for Burnley to put a similar request letter of complaint in?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 11:19 amNo foul for the injury but two poor challenges after that from Daka which will have caused the stud marks. Whilst I'm not naive enough to think it'll make any difference to us, in particular, the fact that the fans and (from SDs comments) the management team were united in condemnation of Kavanagh's performance, surely more pressure should be brought to bear on this what seems to be, incompetent ref?

Re: Ben Mee
Exactly. Unfortunately we don’t have the media knowledge to make a noise like Everton did. There have also been other incidents this season when we should have been screaming from the rooftops. Does this media noise influence the refs - I think the answer is pretty obviousGoddy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 11:36 amGiven Everton's indignance at this ref and getting an apology from Mike Riley (I think), would it be appropriate for Burnley to put a similar request letter of complaint in?

Yes... that's it. It looked worse on TV. He was pulling his socks down to show the substitutes the damage.gawthorpe_view wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 10:53 amYou can see the stud marks clearly on this photograph.

It would be interesting to read what the assessors report had to say from Tuesday night although you do wonder if the “boys club” may apply.

Re: Ben Mee
Agree with CT that it was challenges after the initial treatment for an injury that caused the damage. There were one or two other 'naughty' challenges that went unpunished especially one on Charlie Taylor just before half time. All three officials on view were poor but Kavanagh ought not to have been involved after his woeful weekend.

Nominated for PL player of the month. Captains vote for me. As well as he has played James Tarkowski has been better in the month of February.

"touch and go" is usually about a month sadly!
fortunately we have very few games now in March!

Tarks missed the Brighton game - which we won 0-3.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 12:59 pmNominated for PL player of the month. Captains vote for me. As well as he has played James Tarkowski has been better in the month of February.
Ben Mee scored the only goal in the Spurs game.
So, Ben's stats are much stronger than Tarks in the month of Feb. Played more minutes, more clean sheets and a goal.
Great, of course, that Tarks is also contributing very strongly.

Would agree with this, save him for Brentford, if there's any doubt regarding the Chelsea game.Burnleyareback2 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 02, 2022 8:18 amHe came out for the 2nd half and sat in the directors box- seemed to be moving ok.

Must be bad if Ben is touch and go since he usually is fairly bulletproof.

Re: Ben Mee
I would rather Collins plays against Lukaku if I'm honest. Probably Ben Mee's worst opponent even though he's not firing at the minute.
Collins might be able to match him physically.

Agree to a point, but I do think Collins looks more comfortable alongside Mee than Tarks (who tends to concentrate on his own game).Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 1:33 pmI would rather Collins plays against Lukaku if I'm honest. This is what happens when you get older unfortunately. Even more important we have players like Long as backup.

Re: Ben Mee
On Tuesday when Ben came off I had no worries at all about Collins deputising. We would struggle to get anyone better to step in for our two regulars-and he will get better
Re: Ben Mee
As much as I have been impressed with Collins, and I think he’ll be a great player for us, I actually think he gets shrugged off the ball quite easily. There’s been a few times when he’s played that smaller forwards have given him a nudge and he’s been knocked over. He reminds me a bit of when Keane first broke into the team in that he was very tall and slim. Keane bulked up a lot in his second season, Collins will probably be similar.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 1:33 pmI would rather Collins plays against Lukaku if I'm honest. Re: Ben Mee
Yes but I just wonder would Leicester have scored their first goal had Ben Mee been there? We were pretty static as the lumped clearance went to Vardy.warksclaret wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 2:53 pmOn Tuesday when Ben came off I had no worries at all about Collins deputising. Re: Ben Mee
You can't say for sure if someone would do anything different but if you re-watch the goal.
JayRod was poor in not trying to block the keepers clearance after being favourite to get there at one point. A rebound could have been a goal for us.
The camera is slow to turn back to show if Vardy was offside but at least 3 Leicester players were and it was a bit of carnage. But the CH Tarky did the right thing forcing Vardy back (he might have took Ben Mee on for pace) but their attacking Midfielder (Maddison)was well forward of Brownhill to knock home.
He might have done better than Tarky for the 2nd as he will have more experience/practice at watching his man and the ball from the left hand side. It's a different body shape/angle.

Re: Ben Mee
Collins coming in for Mee weakens us in two positions as Tarks is far less reliable on the left. Wasn’t it his underhit left footed pass which conceded possession for Leicester’s second? (I haven’t brought myself to watch the goals back!)Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 1:33 pmI would rather Collins plays against Lukaku if I'm honest. Re: Ben Mee
We had enough players back in position to stop the 2nd. We just let Vardy run off Tarky in between Taylor. It's our style to not man mark so it will happen from time to time.
I wouldn't say Collins has weakened us so far but I agree Tarky is not at his best on the left. But that is Dyche's decision, the camera panned on him shouting to Tarky to switch at the substitution.
