Jamie Hoyland interview
starts off with Sheff United stuff but plenty about his Burnley time - not for kids ears, but it's seriously funny

Chris Waddle sounds worse than I'd previously believed !

I watched that the other day, very good. If you haven’t seen the Glen Little one I recommend it, he’s hilarious.

The story about the envelopes was class. Still laughing now. About 28 minutes for those who haven’t the time.

He came across very well. Seemed to enjoy his time at Burnley pre-Waddle.
I think there's a Keith Treacy episode coming up which should be interesting...

Re: Jamie Hoyland interview
The Glen Little and Robbie Blake podcasts in this series were fantastic .... the highlight for me was after telling story after story about the idiosyncrasies of Stan Ternent's management style and Stan's mental health struggles, Glen goes all serious ..
" We'd run into players at other Clubs who'd left Burnley when we played them, and ask them how they were doing, they'd just look at you .... " I'd walk back to Burnley tomorrow to play for Stan ! " .....

Re: Jamie Hoyland interview
Even back then it was unusual to prosper once a player left Burnley. Not unheard of, of course, just as it's not unheard of now, but definitely a place where so many players seem to have found their best (happiest) years.

Nigel Gleghorn was the FA tutor on my Level 2 coaching course. It didn’t take much reading between the lines to see his opinion of Chris Waddle.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 3:08 amChris Waddle sounds worse than I'd previously believed !

Not a fan of Graham Westley is he!
Love these kind of ex-player chit chats giving insight to how clubs were. The Swanny / Winstanley bit is hilarious.

Interviewed Scott Laird who was with Westley at Stevenage (and was then signed by him for Preston) and some of the stories were insane. He loved him though.ŽižkovClaret wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 2:23 pmGenuinely don't think i've ever heard a good word about him.

Re: Jamie Hoyland interview
Scott Laird was in Westley's team all the while at Stevenage so no surprise he loved him nor that Westley took him to PNE, it was the squad players that seemed to have issues with Westley and to some extent Maamria.jedi_master wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 2:27 pmInterviewed Scott Laird who was with Westley at Stevenage (and was then signed by him for Preston) and some of the stories were insane. Much as I dislike Westley his second term at Stevenage was the clubs best era which seems to be over as they sleep walk back to Non League unless everybody's favourite Steve Evans can get a tune out of the current crop of total wasters over the remaining 9 games!!

Re: Jamie Hoyland interview
We bumped into Jamie Hoyland on a night out in Rawtenstall over the summer and got chatting to him he certainly had some interesting tales from his time at Burnley and still a big connection to the club living locally.

How can you dislike Westley, don’t you know he’s won medals.aclaretinstevenage wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 2:35 pmScott Laird was in Westley's team all the while at Stevenage so no surprise he loved him nor that Westley took him to PNE, it was the squad players that seemed to have issues with Westley and to some extent Maamria.

Did he arrive in the old mans Bentley? If he's half as arrogant as his dad he'll lose more friends than he makes!ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Mar 18, 2022 11:58 amWe need to be careful now his son is at Burnley. I wonder if he’s brought dad’s medals with him.

Enjoyed that.
Was anyone from this board at the Bristol Rovers game when he bought a fan a pie? Hadn't heard that story before.
