Good report Tony.
Difficult to put a positive spin on that. They were just too good without really getting out of second gear.
Fail to win against Everton and it's going to feel like a succession of dead rubbers between then and the end of the season, even if it's still mathematically possible. A win would at least keep things interesting!

Gloomy but a true, honest report.

Fair report and justified pessimism

Grim stuff yesterday if you are a Claret. Men against 'boys' yet again and it really does make me wonder what the future holds for us or any club of our ilk as the gap between the 'haves' and 'have nots' grows ever wider. I believe it is often referred to as 'the beautiful game' but for me at one end of the age spectrum and my grandson at the other end there was nothing of beauty on view for the whole 93 minutes. Death by a thousand passes has severed my interest and appetite for what used to be an escape.

They were dead rubbers long before yesterdays game. I see them like pre friendlies which I’m not that interested in as they are not competitive. I’m not sure what else we can learn about this team that we don’t already know though.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Sun Apr 03, 2022 3:12 pmGood report Tony.

Good report CT and you are right in what you say. We need 6 points from the next two games to have any hope of staying up.

Good report and as I saw it. Man City have a tremendous squad and manager and are streets ahead of us. But this club does seem to have a habit of pasting us, I still have nightmares about Sean Goater and how long ago is that. I do believe though that a club the size of ours, even with premier league money, can never possibly compete with the financial clout of an oil rich Arabs wallet.
Re: REPORT: Clarets suffer a fourth defeat without a goal
We did well to hold them to 0-2. They are just a different level. City apart I go with enthusiasm and shout the team on but if I’m honest I’m not really enjoying it and haven’t been for sometime. I’ll still give them as much support as I can but I can’t help thinking back to the 60s and early 70s when most teams had a chance against each other and you watched some proper tackling, perhaps I’ve been spoilt.

Re: REPORT: Clarets suffer a fourth defeat without a goal
If we are honest with ourselves, most of us turned up yesterday knowing we were going to get beat easily but hoping it wasn’t by five goals. Thankfully it wasn’t. We also knew that it would be a hard watch which it was. No surprise then that it was a “flat” kind of afternoon in terms of atmosphere. The least enjoyable match of the season in my opinion, and most of us knew it would be like this before we even dragged ourselves down to the Turf with little or no enthusiasm for the ninety minutes football ahead of us.
Let’s hope we are all enthusiastic about Wednesday and the players reciprocate by giving their all in a must win game against a poor Everton.

I was a little shocked at not scoring in 6 games, I thought it might have been a record for us.
Apparently we have not scored in 6 games on 3 occasions.
Let's hope that doesn't happen.

CT
It’s notable that in your preview to the City game you wrote
“Next week will see us play Everton and Norwich. While not being must win games, they are very definitely must not lose games”
and in the post match report you wrote,
“It really looks now as though our only hope is Everton. They will come to Burnley in three days time knowing a point will be a good result. We simply have to win, and then again at Norwich a week today if we are to have any hope of staying up.”

Dyche has morphed into Steve Cotterill and Cotterball. Obsessed with keeping clean sheets, when that fails we are awful to watch and clueless in the final third of the pitch.
Re: REPORT: Clarets suffer a fourth defeat without a goal
Just to add about how we must beat Everton, looking at the highlights of their game against WHU they looked good going forward and in fairness on another day could have scored a few more. We really will have to find something extra if we are going to beat them.

Yes, I also thought they looked quite sharp when on the offensive.beddie wrote: ↑Mon Apr 04, 2022 10:32 amJust to add about how we must beat Everton, looking at the highlights of their game against WHU they looked good going forward and in fairness on another day could have scored a few more. However, they now have injuries and suspensions in several departments, so we've got to take advantage of that and get on the front foot from the off.

Surely after the Brentford defeat we cannot shoot ourselves in the other foot can we ?

This is supposed to say 4 games at the start.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Apr 04, 2022 8:47 amI was a little shocked at not scoring in 6 games, I thought it might have been a record for us.
