Big test for Lancs this week as last season's top 2 clash. I'm sure Alex Davies will receive a warm reception on his OT return.

Glad Parkinson is back, and given their likely England commitments it makes sense to rest Anderson and Mahmood.

Warks win toss and bat 1st unsurprisingly.

Lamb also misses out.

And I bet he got a very warm reception on his way back - he'll always be a b******.

273-7 at stumps, and those 3 late wickets give Lancs the slight edge heading into day 2, an unbeaten century for Sibley, 3 wickets for Bailey, 2 for Parky, and 1 each for Ali and Wood.

Burns and Cook also made tons today for their respective counties

Yorkshire toiling in the field, Essex 321-4 at lunch, Paul Walter nearing his 150. not a name that I'm familiar with I have to say.

Ben Stokes hit 34 off an over earlier. 17 6s in his innings of 161 off 88 balls. In the County Championship.

Ridiculously talented player.

Lancs tootling along at 3 per over; 127-0.
Match delayed at the mo though. is their rain up north? Grand down in Hampshire (and Hants are taking advantage- they have Glos 134-9 replying to 342).

Good reply by Lancs thanks to Jennings and Wells.

Yorkshire facing an uphill battle after a good 10th wicket Essex stand, and 3 down already, however they do still have Root, Malan and Brook to bat, so could be plenty of runs in that trio.

Looks like the Saffer is taking up the crasher Hameed role, good job Balok is putting bat to ball a bit.

Lancs will have to bat very well tomorrow so they only have to bat once.
Try and set them 260 and try and bowl them out on the last day.

Voldemort in good form again I see... out for 10 on a batters paradise, to go with his 7, 2 and 4..... any chance that Joe or Dawid fancy a bat at any stage? Or are they going to sit in whilst it flattens out a bit more?

Quality opening bat Lyth, proved it over a number of seasons unlike fly by nighters like Hameed and that Roverrrrrs fan who jumped ship last season.

It will be a long while before Balok gets a mention on the Eastbourne hop on hop off bus I can assure you.

Lancs ticking along nicely, 222-1 at lunch, Jennings on the verge of his century, Wells out for 80. Bat the rest of the day, then stick them in late tonight and let Parky work his magic.

5 wickets for Ollie Robinson, good to see him back in action again.

Lancs now in the lead, but only 4 wickets left, 330-6, Vilas going well in the 40's.

361 AO, a slender lead of 46, Warks 4-0, and now they've gone off for bad light that's probably it for the day.

Another 100 for Harry Brook. if this lad isn't at least being considered by England I'll be amazed.

Harry Brook has to be in at 5 at the start of June for England. He will take time to adapt but there’s a proper player there for Test cricket.

85-1 at lunch, lead of 39, Sibley and Yates coasting along.

Parky picks up the wicket of Sibley, Warks 100-2 lead of over 50 though, so little chance of forcing a result for either side.

50 for Cook at Chelmsford.

Cook's 100, and a stat that amazed me is he's never notched two separate centuries in the same first-class game.

That's staggering given the sheer amount of innings and runs he's scored over the years.

Yet another milestone ticked off for the great man today.

Hello a flurry of wickets at OT, Warks 177-6 and only 131 ahead, can Lancs make a late push for an unlikely victory.

Parky doing the damage, but the 7th wicket proving obstinate unfortunately.

They've shaken hands on a draw at OT, Warks 184-6 in the end, Lancs probably with the morale victory overall against the defending champions.

Draw also at Chelmsford, where Browne and Cook both finished unbeaten 2nd dig. Cook's batting average will have been bolstered, 209 runs in the match, and only dismissed once.

I had that signed off as a draw completely when I last looked at the scores. Outstanding effort against Sussex under 9s.

Look at the score board, nearly 300 already with only 3 down, and the likes of Phil Salt to come in and up the tempo tomorrow,

Great call by Yorkshire to field first, and you do know you're supposed to catch the catches, not keep dropping them, Jennings now on his 3rd life no wonder he's 150 unbeaten when your lot can't catch a cold. :)

Century for Hameed, and runs for Foakes, Pope and Stokes, so plenty for the England selectors to ponder with the 1st test against NZ around the corner.

Enjoy your day, ideally Lancs rack up 450-500, then stick Yorks in for a tricky session post-tea, and nip a few out cheaply.

The way day 1 has progressed you'd imagine a high scoring draw is the most likely result, unless the pitch deteriorates, but Lancashire do have the bowling attack capable of taking 20 wickets whatever the conditions, especially with the luxury of runs on the board.
