US Masters (golf)
1st major of the season commences tomorrow, likely to be dominated by Americans following their Ryder Cup success, and yes Tiger plays.
Regarding European hopes Jon Rahm is the most likely contender to challenge the home players, and Rory yet again attempts to complete the Grand Slam.
Among all the big names a dark horse to be aware of is Scotland's Robert MacIntyre, came 12th last year on his Masters debut, and he's been in decent form.

Re: US Masters (golf)
Very much looking forward to this! One of the highlights of the sporting year.
So difficult to call as there are so many incredible golfers. Would love Rory to prevail but I can't see beyond to of the top talent from the most recent USA Ryder Cup team - Cantlay, Schauffele, Scheffler, Morikawa, Spieth, Thomas - all top golfers. Also hope Hovland does well and a sneaky bet might be on Zalatoris.
Whatever happens, always a great spectacle. Enjoy.

Looks wide open this year, and Tiger playing adds even more intrigue. I've backed Cam Smith, Scheffler and a bit of a longshot on the Scottish lad Maclyntire. Did well last year and lefty's have had a bit of success at Augusta over the years.

Steady start from Tiger, level through 12, Willett leading the British charge, and tied for the lead on -3, sad to report Fleetwood is having a mare, and already his Masters dream looks to be over for another year.
MacIntyre also going along nicely on -1 on the front 9.

Fleetwood was +5, thanks to a triple bogey on the Par4 11th, but has just birdied 13,14 & 15 to get it back to +2 with 3 to play ...tiger76 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 07, 2022 7:58 pmSteady start from Tiger, level through 12, Willett leading the British charge, and tied for the lead on -3, sad to report Fleetwood is having a mare, and already his Masters dream looks to be over for another year. Re: US Masters (golf)
Cameron Smith was my top pick a week before The Masters started. He's shown steady progress over the last 2-3 years, plus he's currently the hottest putter on tour, and he's shown nerves of steel when under pressure. A win at The Players earlier this season gave him the confidence to compete at the highest level. Today's minus 4 has done nothing to change my mind, despite doubles at first and last.
I'd love to see Rory complete the Grand Slam, alas I doubt he has another Major in him, too inconsistent.

Augusta bearing it's teeth today in the wind, but Scottie Scheffler showing why he's the new world number one, Fleetwood and Willett among those leading the British challenge, Woods in danger of drifting away after a few bogeys in his round.
Anyone around par or under is well in contention heading into the weekend, and thankfully for the neutrals nobody is threatening to run away with the Green Jacket.
As expected a strong American presence near the top of the leaderboard, Dustin Johnson in particular looks a major threat sitting at -2 safely in the clubhouse.

Scheffler - 4 stab!
Re: US Masters (golf)
Sums Rory up the last few years unfortunately. Shoots a 64 when it doesn't really matter and the pressure is off.Buxtonclaret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 10:52 pmBrilliant last round by Mcilroy.
