Someone will have read this thread and shoved a few quid on it thinking they are going to do one on the bookies.
Doesn’t take much to sway odds in these markets so wouldn’t read too much into anything.

I’m not saying that he couldn’t be a decent manager, but I do think we need someone that’s not a complete beginner at it.

First premier club with a female manager! It would appeal to our media savvy owners.
Re: Name the next manager
And I would hand back my season ticket expect no refund but make a massive huge stance about women in men’s football

Hilarious. Not that this will happen, but I'd love for it to happen just to see the reaction. I want to see just how crimson a gammon's face can get before his heart pops.

Carrick?
I recall the last recently retired Utd player we appointed as manager.
He didn't have any management experience either.
It didn't last long or turn out well.

Re: Name the next manager
Can you imagine the meltdown Watford fans have every time they sack a manager if it's the same as those on here?
Common everyone, managers come and do. I love Dyche but like he will, we all move on.

Re: Name the next manager
Not sure who but would prefer a young, up and coming manager
who has the drive and ambition to develop the team.
We need a major overhaul (wherever we end up) so that would give
the new manager the chance to make his mark.
Hopefully relatively quickly especially if we 're in the Championship.
Wouldn't mind if he's an overseas manager as long as he is happy to buy into
the challenge of being a small town team that punches above its weight.
Quite like the sound of Nathan Jones at Luton. He's done well to get them
challenging for a play off place. And they play decent football.
Not sure how young/old he is?

Re: Name the next manager
Probably because Nick Pope will be gone in the summer. World Cup selection must be his aim so will go to another Prem team. Billy Mercer probably decided he will stick with Sean Dyche and go wherever he goes so is leaving Burnley, not a surprise for me.

Re: Name the next manager
I wonder who Alan Pace turned to for advice on who next given his lack of experience on picking managers. It seems David Unsworth might be the one who is looking favourite, though Carrick, Duff and Phelan could be in the frame. Ex- Burnley connections might be thought to be useful in placating fans who are venting their anger however I do think they might go for a short term manager who is known to keep teams up when in desperate situations then go for someone else in the summer. I have no particular preference at the moment but hope they go for someone who has a change in formation, a change in tactics, who is hungry, younger but with some experience at Championship level at least.

Re: Name the next manager
I for one was underwhelmed with Dyche’s appointment. It goes to show we as fans haven’t a clue.brexit wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 9:00 pmyes I know but Tony might have a link to old clarets mad topic. I think I remember the fans wanting Mick McCarthy and there were rumours of paolo di canio. What i do remember is that the other two that were interviewed were low profile and possibly scotttish.
I think there was a lot of negativity around Dyches appointment.
Might be wrong usually am

Re: Name the next manager
Pace wanted shut of Dyche in January according to an article in today’s Sunday People. As I said it’s the right decision but January would have been better timing. Unfortunately the same article suggests he wanted Steve Bruce as the replacement. Wow, I was hoping we were going to move away from dinosaurs, otherwise what’s the point of potting Dyche ?

Re: Name the next manager
Hmm, not always. Fans are naturally going to be more emotional rather than rational but you could argue they were right about the Laws appointment, for instance. You’re obviously going to weigh up a manager’s track record and considering Dyche had just been potted by Watford, it’s natural to be wary. It’s a dive into the unknown and it paid off - it wasn’t like he wasn’t supported from day one

Not read all this post but I wouldn't mind the Bodo Glimt manager who would tick a lot of boxes.
They were knocked out of Europe on Thursdday with Dyche sacked on Friday?

the correct one.

Carrick would be a big gamble - I’ve a lot of time for him though and do think he could make a good manager (not that a few interviews on TV is exactly the most rigorous of assessments to lead to that view).Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 17, 2022 10:02 amCarrick is interesting

Re: Name the next manager
We need a manager with a reputation for playing a high tempo, aggressive, attacking game based on accurate passing and good movement off the ball. I’m still convinced it will be a European manager (not British) with good experience of European players.
Nuno Santo should definitely be on the shortlist.

We should avoid anyone with zero experience like Michael Carrick. He's done absolutely nothing to suggest he'd do a good job.

Isn't Nuno just a Portuguese Dyche though? His football is pretty dull to watch.
Re: Name the next manager
The only thing he's got in his favour are his possible contacts. But as I said with regards to Emma Hayes, now isn't the time for experimenting.willsclarets wrote: ↑Sun Apr 17, 2022 10:48 amWe should avoid anyone with zero experience like Michael Carrick.
