Club Brugge are the best team and have been for a while, they won the league recently due to the bullshit league split. Union finished top of the league but didn't win it... awful format
My understanding was they're the new kid on the block in a bit of a Chelsea/City way?
Definitely agree with everyone saying it shows better thinking than Wilder, or the usual suspects waiting another turn on the merry go round. Just a shame he's not a bit more proven, but we were never likely to get that.

Ticks a lot of boxes for me. Hope
It is true. Would have been happy with the appointment even if we were in PL. Perfect job for him early in his career. Takes us back into PL and he will be in high demand. Great contacts in Belgium and at City. Knows the Pep way better than most. Just as long as we don’t become City nursery club.

If he was more experienced (and any good) he wouldn't be coming here, we've kinda gotta take a chance at the start of his managerial career. The Pro League is a hotbed for talent, he's developed some really good players at Anderlecht. Anderlecht historically are the big name, Brugge for the last 10 years have been the biggest spenders and best side. I hope he brings Zirkzee with him, 16 goals 9 assists in 38 games, 21 year old pacey striker he had on loan from Bayern, rumoured fee I saw was around 8 million euros.

It's becoming quite clear that Sky Sports News 'Sources' are quite often Twitter tick accounts like Fabrizio Romano.

I think the fact he is willing to take it even after relegation speaks well to his desire to take the job.

Worry that fee is beyond our means with our finances so would be loan only but that sounds an impressive return, might have to have a look at him on some analytics sites sounds very promising.

It's all a bit exciting isn't it? He was a top top player and City were half the side when he was out of the side.
It's a gamble but no more so than say Rooney and its a better shout than Wilder.
Starry Starry night
Vincent's here to make things new
Look out on your Claret and Blue
And see the dawning if a brand new day.

If you're Nathan Collins and Ben Mee, you're excited by the thought of playing for one of the greatest centre backs the Premier League has ever had I would think.

In 2017, Michael Keane said on signing for Everton that he was excited by the thought of playing for Ronald Koeman.

Same.. if Pace can get him to sign it’s a real signal of ambition, a new style, new brand.. also says a lot that he’s bought in to Pace’s vision and plans, not being put off by the negativity in the press about us being in free fall. I’m excited for his recruitment.

This would be absolutely fantastic news, and a real boost to everyone's confidence about the future, because if he does come, then presumably he'll have been given certain assurances regarding the availability of funds to strengthen.
However, I thought we were skint.....?

The talk about the gambles and risk... Alan Pace is hopeless at it. What risk has worked out for Burnley Football Club under this lot?
We should be going safe with an appointment who will get us back into the Premier League... what evidence suggests Vincent Kompany can do this?

Is there such a thing? Managers only get their experience and their promotions from being given a chance. Look at Dyche when he first came in.

I know the closest comparison from a Burnley perspective is probably Chris Waddle (!!!), but I cannot help but be a bit excited by this.
Ha.. same. I was just thinking it'd cause the most excitement since Waddle.

I suppose it is an exciting one, but then I was excited by Waddle arriving. Top players don’t always make top managers, and they have quite often struggled when managing players at a lower level than they played with. But he does at least have some experience now, and if it does happen, it’s certainly going to be interesting.

We could just spend all income and be filthy rich in the market and kick the debt can down the road, not the smartest decision but shows money spent this summer doesn't mean we aren't skint, just either taking on even more debt or ignoring the current debts.

Agree about top players not always top managers but ... Kompany seems to have not been too shabby with Anderlecht ... also having him might just have an influence on getting some decent signings etc

I’m not sure how his Anderlecht team have played but they finished 8th 2 years ago and are now 3rd. By all accounts the club was a car crash that he has (somewhat) brought together. He has done a decent job given the money Brugge spend and the USG success bankrolled by Tony Bloom.
Good connections.
We have defended relatively well this season so adding an ex world class centre back to that would hopefully mean we don’t loose what we are good at, whilst being a little more progressive in the final third.
As a premier league winner and PL legend he would absolutely command the respect of the players you would think.
Pretty sure he studied for some sort of business degree too so he will have no doubt scrutinised the accounts as part of the process and be okay with what’s going on behind the scenes.
