Anything that pushpinpussy disagrees with gets my vote. He has an amazing habit of being wrong on every issue.

Best of luck Vincent.

After hearing his name mentioned he along with Rooney and Knutsen were the standout candidates for me, young fresh up and coming coaches, with good footballing ideas and a history in developing youngsters.

I'm staying. I expect a lot of fans will stay.

Oh, players? I'd expect many will be encouraged and some may see more in staying with Burnley and seeing how the season goes. Others will continue to look at offers from other clubs.

I share a bit of concern. Farke probably has achieved the most (and in this league) of the names linked. Rooney too albeit different achievements given the environment he was in. Knutsen is in the same boat as Kompany - no experience.

What Kompany does offer is knowledge of English football, the area (so he’ll settle) and has good contacts.

No doubt he can’t match Dyche’s experience and I certainly think that is a loss to BFC but personally I couldn’t have stood the football much longer, even if it’d kept us up.

We needed a change. Time to move on.

Worked under financial restraints at Anderlecht.

Had Anderlecht playing possession football

Has a good record with younger players

He isn't wedded to one particular style, so he's adaptable.

That Josh Cullen is getting a mention as important to Kompany's style of play.

Respect to VK for taking on such a big rebuild - he must have an idea of his budget before signing, suggesting we won't just sell our best players without replacement. While I admit to be optimistic, I still believe we are one of the market leaders in the championship, and will show this here.

Covid has financially crippled lots of championship clubs for the years to come, with most clubs now opting for loan players and free transfers rather than spending big. Interestingly, for premier league clubs, the championship year on year looks easier to get out of, with Fulham, Watford, Norwich and Bournemouth all examples of this.
The way ALK have put debt on such a well run club is disgusting, which I believe is not spoken about enough - but there is suggestion to believe the finances are not as bad as we make out. Nixon reported we have to pay 25milish this year, as well as next year if we do not go up, to go towards the 65 million loan. However, parachute payments cover this (total of 80 million over 3 years), and with our sellable assets, we can fork up enough money for a suitable rebuild.
Cornet 17.5 (think he will go for his release clause)
Pope 20 (year left on contract so not sure what we would get)
Wood sale - 12 million profit unspent
That's a cash injection of potentially £50 million.

Assuming Mee and Vydra sign deals, I believe we will need 6/7 players - New GK, LB(Pieters will leave), CB , Cm, then 2 wingers (potentially 3 if Dwight leaves) and a Striker. However, a lot of positions mentioned here could be filled in by the youth academy, with Dodgson, Richardson, Costelleo, Tucker, Helm etc all showing their potential for the u23s.

With Kompanys experience and contacts, I believe a lot of young players playing abroad would want to make the switch to Burnley. I believe this will be the strategy for Pace, to bring in young player from abroad which will keep their market value, so if we do stay in the championship, we can continue to sell to buy. From reports, the scouting under ALK is highly stat based, rather than under Dyche where players were valued on experience and their mentality.

We could spend only a total of 15 million, while also bringing in youngers on loan from man city and signing players on frees, and create a solid squad for the championship. The amount of players out of contract helps with the flexibility of the rebuild.

New GK / Hennessey
Lowton/Roberts Collins/Long/Mee/Bedeau/New Cb Taylor/Dodgson/New Lb

JBG/New Rw Brownhill/Cork/(westwood)/new cm/Helm Dwight/Costelleo/New winger

Wout/Jay rod/Vydra/New Striker

If players such as Wout/Mcneil/Brownhill were to go, we could demand a high fee, which could replace these players and further increase the capital the club has.
To conclude, VK is an interesting appointment which we can all get behind.
Im not naive, and doing this is easier than it sounds - its going to take a massive summer

P.S. sorry for the length of the message, but just thought its an interesting discussion

Sure more than a few have already made that comparison, but the two men are very different. I don’t think Kompany would be the type to expect the opposition to role over just because he was in their stadium; as I get the impression Waddle/Rhoeder expected to happen.

A bit of a strange comment. Waddle wasn’t equipped to manage, too shy and too lacking in self confidence.

I think BelgianClaret who posts on here suggested him as a signing for us recent ish, funnily enough. Reckons he’d be keen on a move to England. Very quick and direct winger.

Another that falls into the bracket of someone who he wanted at Anderlecht this summer is goalkeeper James Trafford, who spent the season just gone on loan at Bolton, from Manchester City.

I think BelgianClaret who posts on here suggested him as a signing for us recent ish, funnily enough. Reckons he’d be keen on a move to England. Very quick and direct winger.
think he was at Man City and has played for Wales internationally, Swear I've seen him at Schalke when they were relegated, rapid fast, Dino Hotic the standout from Cercle Brugge tho ;)
