Is this a well disguised hint that Nigel Pearson is about to take over.

If so, absolutely fair play! Perhaps says a bit about Cork, Brownhill and Westwood but fair play!
Yes I remember seeing the stat at some point.

I think regardless in this system he wouldn’t really be tasked with tracking back and tackling as much as he would in Dyches. I think he would very much be given the license to get forward and attack. Leaving Cullen to tidy up at the back

Tbh I doubt he will come. More just a player I like that I think would fit the system. Swap him out for someone else I think that’s how we will line up.
Liam Delap on loan from them instead will do. More of a chance of that one too I’d say. He needs first team football.

As for McNeil, if he stays, which I don’t think he will, I’d say he’s perfect for the inside wide positions VK looks to use. In centre mid, with the off the ball shape being 4-4-2, you need the positional defensive discipline a natural CM gives you. I’m expecting Brownhill to step up in the Champ and deliver.

McAtee / Doyle on loan from City too would be great as inside wingers.

Yeah, and having one player to do the tidying is asking a lot.

For tackles -
McNeil was first with 78
Brownhill was 2nd with 73
Tarks was 3rd over all with 65

Westwood and Cork were way down with 21 & 20 respectively

I can't see a distance covered yet.

I believe last season Mcneil made the most tackles and covered the most ground of our entire midfield
Not just our midfield, he made more tackles than all but 4 midfielders in the PL

Saw this too. Depends how much they want to help VK out! But other factors are the likelyhood of guaranteed football here & not having to move to the other end of the country.

Man city just brought two forwards, pretty well publicised, and scored 99 prem goals last season. Very few of those goals came from their youngsters, so if we get Kompany, you'd expect the relationship with City, and the proximity, to allow us some good loans.

How many loans can we have from Man City/ the same club at once, different rules in the Champ to the Prem?

4

Few that we may be keen on:

Tommy Doyle spent the second half of the season at Cardiff and impressed, just got called up to the England u21 set up.

James Trafford (keeper) spent the season on loan at Bolton and it was rumoured Kompany wanted him this summer.

City also seem willing to loan out James McAtee this season who reminds me of David Silva in the way he plays.

What makes people think we will have Players from Manchester City?

At the moment we are Managerless so until we know who the Manager will be there is no point speculating!

Has anybody seen any evidence at all that Kompany is interested in the BURNLEY job? A lot of press and media talk, but heard nothing from him, his agent, the club etc.
Has he been seen anywhere near Alan Pace or the Turf at all?
When Fabrizio Romano and Nichola Schira tweet it it means barring some sort of last minute disagreement it's happening - they both tweeted two days ago and nothing since so I would suggest it's more than likely.

Managers tend to try and loan from their former club where possible.
Lampard did it at Derby, not impossible that Kompany will talk to City, especially if he's going to be playing a progressive style etc.

He's still held in high regard there let's not forget.

I think this depends where you get your stats from. He was a fair bit further down (but still reasonably high) on FBRef.
https://fbref.com/en/comps/9/defense/Pr ... defense::8

Very high on pressures which doesn't tally with the lazy tag that some seem to have decided he deserves.

I got them from the PL site, which appears to give him 10 more tackles than FBRef.

I’ve commented previously but there’s always uncertainty when a new manager comes in and excitement too. Kompany will, like every other manager, get my support but time will tell how successful he might be.

Nixon saying we have won the race for Kompany and offered him same terms that were agreed for if we stayed up (2.5m a year) making him the highest paid manager in the Champ

Yes potentially, I suspect it just shows that we have refinanced and potentially got a few out goings already sorted.

Either way it’s good news it’s sorted so early. Only three weeks till pre season Kompany needs to get things rolling.

I can imagine Pace has told VK to use his contacts at City to secure several, even the max amount, of loans. Saves him some money that way and would make paying him that salary worth it.

It’s good he’s in this early. Like you said he could get loans in for pre season and build the team he wants.

I really hope we do transfer business early so that We have an effective pre season. Would like to think Cullen joins shortly after.

If you’re paying the top manager wages in the Championship * it’s right to expect the best manager in the Championship!

No pressure there then, Vincent!

* Assuming that’s correct of course

Happy with this appointment when it finally becomes official, but that is a lot of money for a manager in the second tier.

Let’s hope Kompany and Pace have a master plan for next season.

He’s a cm for Anderlecht (been a constant figure in kompanys starting eleven.

I don’t really think we have a CM at the club with his passing range so it would be a no brainer move for me.

He’s a cm for Anderlecht (been a constant figure in kompanys starting eleven.

I don’t really think we have a CM at the club with his passing range so it would be a no brainer move for me.
We certainly need a CM who can find a striker, that's for sure.

Just be glad it's the right Vinny. It could have been Jones.

He wouldn’t last long - he’d be gone in
